True Mother’s Message to ACLC Christian Leaders, on Saturday, October 7, 2023, in Las Vegas, USA
I wanted to see you, and longed to meet you. Today I will speak on the topic, “6,000 Years of Human History and the Present Time, Seen from the Viewpoint of God’s Providence.” The Creator wanted to become the Parent of humankind. God created all things in pairs in the divine image, from the mineral world to the plant world to the animal world. Finally, God created a man and woman, known in the Bible as Adam and Eve, who were to become our first ancestors. God gave people a period in which they should grow, then waited for them to perfect their character by their own effort.
Unfortunately, however, the man and woman created to become the first human ancestors failed to fulfill their responsibility and fell. That is our history as it stands in the present time. God is almighty and all-knowing, the Alpha and Omega. In other words, whatever God begins, he must see the fruits of it. However, the important thing here is that since human beings have a portion of responsibility, Heaven had no choice but to carry out restoration through indemnity, the providence of salvation.
Since you are all members of the clergy, you must know the Old Testament well. There was the providence of choosing the Israelites as the chosen people, establishing central figures, and carrying out the providence of restoration and salvation through indemnity. How difficult that has been! Although it took 4,000 years to bring Jesus Christ—the only begotten Son, whom God could call “My son”—into this world, neither Mary who gave birth to him, nor Zachariah’s family, nor the religious leaders, nor the people understood Jesus.
When God chose central figures and gave them responsibilities, if they failed to fulfill that responsibility—when there was a single mistake—things could not move forward without an indemnity offering. This is why it took 4,000 years.
But even after God had sent the long-awaited Messiah, how could they fail to recognize him? Ultimately, Jesus was driven to the cross. Since Jesus had a responsibility to fulfill, even though his earthly life ended on the cross, he said that he would come again; that he would return.
Christianity began with the apostles who experienced resurrection through the Holy Spirit and who were waiting for Jesus’ promised return. Yet as you know, they received a lot of persecution in those early days. During 2,000 years of the Christian providence people eagerly awaited the coming of Jesus, even though they did not understand his original essence. Moreover, they did not know the original essence of the Creator.
When people tried to attend God in a human-centered manner, they created many problems. How could communism, which says that there is no God, that God is dead, arise from the Christian realm where people believed in God? That is why the Reformation had been inevitable. The Reformation!
Heaven’s providence is mysterious and beyond human comprehension. Martin Luther initiated the Reformation, but it was John Calvin that established it more fully. You all know about this. He made it clear in around 1543.[1] Thus came the beginnings of Puritanism and Protestantism. With the Catholic Church, it was between the priests and believers, but in Protestantism, pastors, elders, deacons, deaconesses, and believers united to attend and serve God together. One example of this is the United States democracy, where people can freely worship God—which came about through the Puritans.
Heaven chose America as a nation that could create a supportive environment for the returning Messiah to complete the providence. The reality is that today’s powerful nations prioritize their own interests and cannot unite with each other. It is the same with religions. And to this day inter-ethnic conflicts are still leading lead to war.
In such a reality, how can we realize the kingdom of heaven on earth that our Creator desires to see? Can we become one human family, people that attend Heaven while embodying the free equality, peace, and unity that our Creator and all of humankind hope to see?
Now is the time when you must reveal the truth of the providence. As fallen people, we cannot come directly in front of our Creator, our Heavenly Parent. There was a man and a woman who should have become the first human ancestors. Two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son, was born. Yet the only begotten Son alone is not enough. Only with the only begotten Daughter can we see the completion of the providence.
Human history up until now has been the history of religion. It has been dominated by men. This is incomplete. In order to resolve the problems that are currently causing conflict between ethnic groups and between religions, the central figures—the True Parents—must appear. Two thousand years ago, Jesus strove to accomplish his responsibility as the True Father, but because there was no True Mother, he could not complete it.
That is why Jesus said he would come again and hold the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. The Feast of the Lamb. Jesus’ purpose in coming again is to establish the True Parents. True Parents. True Parents who can realize humanity’s dream. Fallen people cannot come in front of the Creator, Heavenly Parent, unless they tread the historical path of rebirth through the True Parents.
So, although Christians have surely waited for the Messiah throughout the 2,000-year history of Christianity, their first responsibility and mission is to find out where the only begotten Daughter, the one who will become the True Mother, was born and where she appeared. However, Christians today do not understand the essence. Some think that if you just believe, you will go to heaven. They do not know about indemnity. The truth is that people, whose parents are also fallen human beings, cannot stand in front of God without going through indemnity. It is the True Parents who are the saviors of fallen humankind. When you are born again through True Parents’ Blessing, you become a son or daughter of the Heavenly Parent. In Heaven’s profound and mysterious providence it took 6,000 years, until 1943, for the only begotten Daughter to be born on the Korean Peninsula.
Four hundred years after the Reformation under Calvin, the only begotten Daughter could not be born to the people of Israel because indemnity remained. Thus, Heaven selected a new chosen people and brought the only begotten Daughter to be born in 1943. This only begotten Daughter had to be born on a foundation of Christianity. A Christian foundation. Since Christianity came about through Jesus, it is correct to say that the person who will come again and hold the Marriage Supper of the Lamb must be born into a Christian environment. Is that correct?
At that time, Korea was in the situation of seeking its independence. World War II ended in 1945, but Korea was divided into North and South, one communist, the other a democracy. It was a time when Korean Christianity was centered around Pyongyang, and when American Protestant Christians there were actively spreading a Holy-Spirit-led movement. At that time, well-known pastors received revelations. They prophesied about my birth. And at that time, when people believed that the Messiah would come to Pyongyang, when Korea was divided into North and South in 1945 and North Korea was actively advancing with its communist system, we received the news that my maternal uncle had completed his studies in Japan but had not returned to his hometown (in North Korea). Instead, he had joined the South Korean army. In this situation, our family could not remain in North Korea. Heaven could not leave me in Pyongyang. That is why God opened the way for us to go to South Korea.
However, when we consider God’s principles of creation, God gives the people chosen a period in which to grow. He desires that they reach the position of having perfected their character on their own. I was six years old at that time. Even though I was born as the only begotten Daughter, a six-year-old cannot carry out God’s providence. God had to give me time to mature. That is why Heaven did something quite miraculous. At that time, Korea was a country unknown to the world. How was it possible that sixteen UN member states participated in the Korean War and that many young people, who might have become good leaders in the future, shed their blood here? Their blood was not shed in vain. Even though I was young, since I knew Heaven’s providence, I knew that God could not wait any longer. I therefore declared that I would assume the position of True Parent.
The only begotten Daughter cannot complete the providence by herself. She needs her counterpart. Yet how many painful situations must our Heavenly Parent have experienced in 6,000 long years of looking at fallen humanity? God can no longer just sit still and observe people living in such misery. God wants to embrace everyone as soon as possible. It is only through True Parents that fallen humankind can be saved, and as I knew this, in 1960 I took the position of True Parent.
Yet 60 years have passed. Through True Parents we have welcomed the new historical era called Cheon Il Guk, a new era, a new history and providence by which we can attend Heavenly Parent on this earth. As the only begotten Daughter, the True Mother, I am no longer leading humankind wandering in the wilderness era. I have come forward today because it is time for members of the Christian clergy, who must play a central role in guiding humanity, to take responsibility. Do you understand?
As Christian leaders you must not limit yourselves to being members of the clergy. As sons and daughters of the Creator, the Heavenly Parent, you need to realize that it is time to stretch your circumstances so that you can serve our Heavenly Parent together with True Parents on earth. To do so, you must reveal who I am. You must reveal the truth of Heaven, the original essence of the Creator, and the fundamental nature of Jesus. And you should reveal that your essential nature as religious leaders is that of True Parents’ sons and daughters.
You are not just my spiritual children. At this time when you are living and breathing together with me, we are like parent and children. I hope that in the church and environment where you work, you can come to attend True Parents, attend our Heavenly Parent, and expand the scope of your life in God’s earthly kingdom.
Well, the more we think about it, we human beings have been endlessly unfilial to our Heavenly Parent. We have failed to recognize our Parent and we have not known that our Parent’s dreams were our dreams and wishes. Now, you must stand in the center and not let this country, the United States, be the only prosperous country. Heaven has blessed America with the responsibility to embrace its brother and sister nations around the world. America must surely fulfill that blessed task. Will you take the lead in this?
Please be proud in front of the world. Proudly say, “I am True Parents’ most beloved son/daughter.” I hope you will all build a world of peace and freedom without war or conflict, one family under God that attends our Heavenly Parent. This is what both Heaven and humankind desire.
[1] In 1543, in an open letter, Calvin called on Charles V, the Holy Roman Emperor, to convene a meeting of Protestant and Catholic leaders aimed at unifying the reformation. The Pope scolded Charles for considering a church council without consulting him, rejected Calvin’s call, and convened the Council of Trent in 1544, with no Protestant participation.
