Commemoration of the International Day of the African Child 2022

June 16th every year is the commemoration of the International Day of the African Child which honors the memories of students who were massacred in Soweto, South Africa in 1976 for protecting against injustice and inequality in the apartheid regime and the Women`s Federation for Word Peace Kenya Chapter organized a program to celebrate the day.

The Theme of the event was: Eliminating Harmful Practices affecting children: Progress on Policy and Practice since 2013. The Program was held at the Jukumu Letu children`s Center in Ngong, Kenya which takes care of 100 children from the surrounding slum area and also serves as a daycare for working mothers who drop their children in the morning and picks them in the late afternoon.

The program involved feeding the babies and sharing True Mother`s love with them and also gave donations of foodstuff to the children`s center.

The WFWP Kenya officials also introduced the Vision and mission of the Founders of the WFWP and also explained the significance of the day to the staff members. This was followed by character Education for the older children and an introduction of Tongil Moo Do Martial Arts which the children really enjoyed.

The program ended with Poems, song and dance which all the children participated in with enthusiasm. It was a happy and enjoyable event for the whole of the community. The director of the institution thanked WFWP Kenya for their outreach visit and donations.
