FFWPU Kenya together with the Eastern Africa Cheon Shim Won (CSW) Branch, successfully hosted the 8-Day East Africa Spirituality Workshop in Nairobi, expanding what was initially planned as the 2nd National Spirituality Workshop into a wider regional program. Held from 15–22 August 2026 at Sasamoto Training Centre, FFWPU Kenya Headquarters, the program was followed by the ChanYang Yeoksa Session and Ancestor Liberation Ceremony on 23 August.
The workshop registered 83 participants, while approximately 100 people joined at different points, exceeding the target of 70. Participants came from at least seven nations: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda and Zambia. Tanzania had the largest delegation outside Kenya, with eight participants. The workshop was led by CSW East Branch Director Rev. Hwang and FFWPU Region East Director Rev. Phiri, with support from continental and national leaders.
Opening & Spiritual Foundation
The workshop opened on 15 August with welcoming remarks from the Kenya National Leader and Rev. Phiri, followed by a message from Rev. Hwang and an Eog Mansei led by Rev. Kililo. Sister HaJung Fanisi then gave the orientation and guided participants in setting personal and team goals. The first two days concluded with two-hour prayer sessions featuring Hyojeong praise and 120 bows, creating a strong foundation of devotion and spiritual unity.
Education & Spiritual Practice
The following days featured education on True Parents Theology, the Life Course of True Parents, the Epic History of the Chosen Han People, Cheon Shim Won and spirituality. Participants responded positively, with several requesting copies of the materials for further study. Sister HaJung’s teachings on prayer and praise encouraged participants to communicate with Heavenly Parent through song and dance. Rev. Hwang provided practical guidance on ChanYang, including clapping, body striking and Ansu, helping participants gain confidence and experience greater spiritual energy during the sessions.
Daily HoonDokHae, prayer devotion and connection to the Korea CSW Vigil sustained the spiritual atmosphere. Several participants continued half-day or full-day fasting as part of the 40-Day devotion for True Mother. A Friday letter-writing session allowed participants to express their hearts to True Mother, followed by testimonies about prayer and Cheon Shim Won experiences. On the final day, young participants presented JaeWang Nabi (Monarch Butterfly) as an offering to True Mother. Tug-of-war, team-building activities and soccer further strengthened friendship and unity.
ChanYang Yeoksa & Graduation
On 23 August, additional members joined the ChanYang Yeoksa Session and Ancestor Liberation Ceremony, bringing total participation to approximately 125 people. Rev. Hwang gave guidance on the Current Providence, Cheon Shim Won and True Mother’s situation. The graduation ceremony recognized 89 participants who fully completed the workshop, together with the CSW Branch President, bringing the total recognized to 90. The program concluded with a benediction and encouragement to preserve the grace received, remain healthy and continue moving forward.
Regional Impact
The workshop provided a meaningful opportunity for members from across East Africa to deepen their spiritual lives, strengthen unity and renew their devotion to Heaven and True Parents. The reflection of the Sudan National Leader, who travelled from Korea, was especially significant: he observed that Africa has a distinctive spirituality that can contribute something beyond the written texts of truth. The workshop therefore demonstrated the growing spiritual strength and providential potential of East Africa.
