The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification Korea Headquarters (hereafter “Family Federation Korea”) reaffirms that the Family Federation is a faith-based community that has been operating under the principles of religious freedom guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, and in accordance with the rule of law. We hereby express our position as follows:
Regarding Dr. Han Hak-ja’s Court Appearance
Although Dr. Han Hak-ja had no legal obligation to attend the preparatory trial proceedings, she appeared today to show respect for the court’s procedures and her determination to actively clarify the truth. This represents a genuine expression of Dr. Han’s sincere commitment to faithfully participate in the judicial process despite various health constraints and difficulties. We hope for understanding and consideration from humanitarian and medical perspectives.
Regarding the allegations currently raised, both Dr. Han and the organization have consistently stated that they are not involved in politics and have never instructed any illegal activities. Family Federation Korea humbly accepts the court’s procedures and believes that the full truth will be clearly revealed through a fair trial.
The activities of the Family Federation are conducted globally with a focus on faith, education, culture, and peace initiatives. Therefore, we sincerely hope that the ongoing investigation and trial do not lead to premature generalizations or misunderstandings about our religious order as a whole. We request that the misconduct of certain former Family Federation leaders not result in the unjust stigmatization of the many citizens, religious figures, civil leaders, and sincere believers who are participating in peace efforts.
The members of our organization will use this occasion as an opportunity to adopt an even more responsible posture, continuing to uphold the dignity and moral standards of our faith community. We ask all our members and faith leaders to respond calmly and consistently, grounded in spiritual solidarity and love for our community.
We sincerely ask for your deep understanding and cooperation, and pray that we will continue together on the path toward peace and mutual prosperity.
