On January 31, 2024, UPF Taiwan organized a seminar in Taipei as part of the United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week. From 21 religious groups and 22 NGOs, 140 participants, came together. The religious community expressed profound concern over the conflict in the Middle East, lasting over four months and resulting in a surge of 1.4 million new refugees.
The conference focused on “Exploring Paths for Religious Involvement in the Peaceful Development in the Middle East,” with religious leaders unanimously urging, “Immediate and unconditional ceasefire, an end to racial segregation, a halt to ethnic massacres, and a cessation of political manipulation”.
During the event, the Vice Chairman of UPF Taiwan, Chen Tuo Huan, presented True Parents’ proposal for restructuring the United Nations. This topic sparked fervent discussions among religious leaders. There were Muslim leaders, Buddhist leaders, Catholic leaders, FFWPU, and leaders of emerging Eastern sects like I-Kuan Tao and Weixin Shengjiao, etc.
In the end, they jointly launched the “IAPD NEWSLETTER” as a significant step forward for IAPD in Taiwan, marking a tangible progression in their endeavors.
