Why is this church potentially important? Our True Mother has a vision for the HJ CheonWon that would develop this small area in Korea as a model of Cheon Il Guk. The church here needs to be part of the lifeblood of the community for the foreseeable future. Can it also be a useful model for other churches? Mother hopes so.
During an October 2019 rededication of the church, Mother said the following:
“[I]n this era of Cheon Il Guk, to firmly establish Cheon Il Guk, the Cheonwon Church of Cheon Won Gung will be a model. From now on, I will make sure that all the events proceed concretely with a clear tradition. So, both America and Japan should contribute, work together and advance with one system. That is my request to you.

The Cheonwon Church, therefore, in unity with the Cheon Won Gung headquarters, will march forward for the sake of national restoration and world restoration. It is standing in the central position to attend God. It will be the internal church. Since all nations of the world have leaders, these political leaders need to properly rule and govern their nations. These leaders need to understand God’s will regarding good governance. Through the Cheonwon Church, they should be able to learn how to become leaders who love their nation and their people.”
The vision is grand but the implementation is also happening (little by little), with lots of discussion on what makes good church.
Cheon Won Church has special children-oriented services which are called “Hyojeong Nuri” (though so far it has been challenging at times to interpret them into natural enough English that children outside of Korea would be drawn to spend the time). There are also the occasional “Peace Festivals” – a service based more on culture and entertainment.
The regular church services also continue. This section of our website includes some English translations of sermons and testimonies that formed core aspects of recent services. These may be of interest to anyone seeking to understand the style and approach of the pastors here in HJ CheonWon (Seorak), Korea. They may even be useful if you are a pastor yourself and need an idea for your next sermon.
CheonWon Church’s role as the central church of our movement is so far more symbolic than actual. Yet with the Korean Church Headquarters merging with the International Headquarters, the running of the CheonWon Church is now naturally divided between the church leadership and the IHQ leadership. Though this may seem like a top-heavy way to organize church services, etc., it should provide openings for creative input and development as there are many young and enthusiastic members in the locality.
True Mother hosted a rededication of the Cheonwon Church on October 13, 2019, and about a year later the Cheonwon Church moved to the Heaven and Earth Cheonbo Training Center, where it enjoys the lovely surroundings of Cheongpyeong Lake and the facilities (such as the Lakeside coffee shop and tea house) that are being developed to welcome non-members.
May God bless these efforts to bear good fruits of the spirit.

Hello, I have recently been coming into church and have been seeing this black man who looks quite young, he was trying to convince me not to come into any services and that the children are being falsely indoctrinated and they should no longer attend the Hyojeong nuri. please be aware of him. he only recently started coming here, i think from Australia. please be cautious who we are bringing our children around. true mother may not be aware and we should bring this to attention.
