The project to serve the community affected by the recent floods in Kenya slums was initiated by the blue dragon mothers of FFWPU Kenya who felt the urgent need to respond to our beloved True Mother’s calling of going out to the communities and serve humanity with a motherly heart. The mothers fundraised amongst themselves and raised some funds to buy foodstuffs for the desperate families in dire need. Together with other Affiliated organizations and partners, they planned to visit the Korogocho slums where many families had been adversely affected by the recent floods.
On May 18, 2024, they visited the affected area, and the whole program was organized by one of the partners who is also the Founder of the Children`s Sports and Learning Center in the slums Pastor Frederick Onyango, and his spouse.
50 of the most affected families were gathered in the center and that’s where everyone met for the program. The feeding program of food donated by one of the partners Hare Krishna was shared with 250 people.
During the program, some representative families gave testimonies of how they escaped the tragedy and even some of them lost their loved ones. The FFWPU Kenya’s Mothers led by Mrs Albina Tanui the National Samonim comforted the families and expressed our True Mother`s love for the families. Each speaker gave them words of comfort and hope. A resolution was made to schedule other seminars and workshops for the women to be taught family values and also character education to the youths.
They each received food donations for their families and were very grateful to the FFWPU Kenya mothers for remembering in this time of great need.
The program ended with prayers for the families and a visit to some of the affected homes.
Despite the difficulties, the families were comforted by the visits and the prayers and felt more hope for better days for their families. The mothers will continue visiting the families and guide them toward our Beloved True Parents.
