On March 11, 2023, Women Federation for World Peace in Dominican Republic held its annual assembly in conjunction with the celebration of Women’s Day.
The event was held at the FFWPU headquarters with 100 participants (70 guests and 30 staff). The event began at 3:00 pm with opening remarks by Ms. Carmen Belliard, Director of the Department of Blessing in the Dominican Republic.
Mrs. Diana Contreras, who was the President of the WFWP Dominican Republic in the past, gave the welcoming remarks. She mentioned that as a active member of the WFWP in the past, whenever she attended the event and heard many times about the ideology of the movement, she received something new, and learned something more.
The event was attended by leaders of different social status of the Dominican Republic. The participation of a congresswoman, several pastors and also a candidate for the presidency of the republic Dr. Soraya Aquino, community leaders, professors of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD). In this assembly the regional director Mr. Leonidas Belliard gave words of greeting as did the representative of the Ministry of Women Mr. Francisco Suero.
The main talk was given by Mr. Cesar Regalado, secretary general of the UPF Dominican Republic. She explained and praised the role of values in highlighting the leadership of women. in this ordinary assembly of the federation of women was proclaimed the new board headed by the president Belgica Ramirez who was determined to work hard to develop the work of the Federation of women in the Dominican Republic.
At the end of the assembly, the work plan for 2023 was presented and all the board of directors committed themselves to successfully develop this program.
