Ambassadors for Peace and friends of UPF gathered in Montreal on April 22, 2023. Fifty religious, political, civic, academic and other volunteers were among the participants.
Roman Catholic Priests, Protestant clergy, Muslim Scholars, sitting members of provincial parliament, the mayor of St. Laurent, City Councillors, scholars and academics and other friends that have been collaborating with UPF over many years came together for the first time since the pandemic.
The meeting began with a water ceremony to bring peace and unity among religions. The representatives of Indigenous, Catholic, Protestant, Muslim and Unificationist led the ceremony in a prayerful and peaceful atmosphere.
Eveline Stewart as the master of the ceremonies led the event and prepared the floor for a presentation by Dr. Franco Famularo, UPF President on the core values and principles of UPF.
A veteran UPF supporter and AFP, Professor Daniel Picot, then spoke on what it means to be an Ambassador for Peace.
We then had Mrs. Paule Robitaille, a former member of the Quebec National Assembly from 2018 to 2022 and well known Quebec journalist who spoke about her experiences working in Russia and her recent visits to Ukraine during the war and the quest for peaceful engagement.
We commissioned several Ambassadors for Peace and concluded with a presentation by Mr. Robert Duffy, Secretary General of UPF who spoke on the UPF Global Pillars and the activities of UPF in Canada.
The program was interactive as there was time for Questions, Answers and discussions.
