Beyond Confusion, Toward the Future

Many of you shared that, during the long Chuseok holiday, your hearts were filled with sorrow and deeply apologetic feelings toward True Mother. Carrying such heartache, you continued to visit the Seoul Detention Center despite the Chuseok harvest holiday. Your prayers did not waver, even on rainy days, and in colder weather you prayed with greater fervor, concerned for True Mother being able to sleep comfortably. Countless members have also gathered at Cheongpyeong for the night prayer vigils, offering devotions through tears. The Korean Family Federation Headquarters extends its deepest gratitude to all members worldwide for their heartfelt dedication. We are continuing to hold peaceful prayer gatherings in front of the Seoul Detention Center, organized by each local church community.

Let us make True Mother known to the world

Despite the heartfelt devotion and prayers of our members, True Mother was indicted on October 10, and legal proceedings are scheduled to follow. During this time, we must unite in faith and sincere devotion to ensure that True Mother is completely acquitted and released.

Now it is all of our responsibility to bring the world to properly understand True Mother, who has devoted her entire life to promoting peace and harmony for all humanity. Her commitment and legacy—leading global initiatives in education, welfare, peacebuilding, environmental stewardship, and women’s empowerment—should be made known to the world. And as we uphold our positions and our calling, demonstrating lives of true love within our families, churches, and communities, we will become a source of strength for True Mother.

Now is the time for unity

Since the day True Mother was incarcerated, many members have expressed their deep concern and shared various ideas on how to overcome the present situation. However, in the process, certain misunderstandings have arisen, leading some media outlets to publish inaccurate reports—such as the alleged “launch of an Emergency Response Committee.” Although no official document has been adopted or announced, some informal meetings were portrayed as if an organization had been formally established, thereby causing unnecessary confusion and misunderstanding within our community.

In reality, two informal gatherings were held, centering on former national leaders, heads of providential organizations, and senior members. On this foundation, the Blessed Family Leaders Council for True Mother’s Wellbeing (provisional title, hereinafter “the Council”) began pooling devotions and wisdom. In the process, however, individual documents circulated as if in connection with this, causing unnecessary confusion to arise.

As controversy continued, the Council issued a statement of deep regret, clarifying that, going forward, it will continue its meetings centered on the Korea Headquarters, in a way that contributes constructively to the future of the movement.

To prevent further distrust, we would like to briefly clarify the following: Legal representation for True Mother and former Vice Chair Won-ju Jeong McDevitt, as well as for the Family Federation as a whole, has been handled jointly by Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (Law Firm Taepyeongyang) and other legal advisors. However, the law firm is currently in the process of withdrawing from the work of representing former Vice Chair Won-ju Jeong. We sincerely ask that baseless speculation or distorted interpretations regarding this matter not continue to spread.

Let us prepare for the future with calm reflection

Beloved members, now is a time to reflect calmly and prepare for the future. Heavenly Korea Family Federation President Dr. Song Yong-cheon has emphasized that this current situation should not be seen merely as a problem of an external nature, but as an opportunity to reexamine the internal, structural challenges within our organization. Following this guidance, the Korea Headquarters is working to fundamentally reform the organizational management system and accountability structure that failed to prevent the individual deviation of one person in whom authority was concentrated.

Preparation for the future cannot be accomplished overnight. We must move forward one step at a time–not with impatience and anger, but with patience and faith. We firmly believe that our Heavenly Parent and True Parents will use this process to newly raise and strengthen us all. Now is the time for us to become one and open the path for True Mother’s return. I pray that all members may rise above confusion and anxiety, and advance together toward the future with steadfast faith and devotion.

혼란을 넘어 미래로 나아가자
  사랑하는 식구님,
  많은 식구님들이 긴 추석연휴 동안 마음 한켠에 참어머님을 향한 슬픔과 죄송함이 자리하고 있었다고 인사를 보내오셨습니다. 그런 안타까움을 안고 추석 연휴에도 서울구치소를 향한 식구님들의 발걸음은 멈추지 않았습니다. 비가 오는 날에는 비를 맞으면서, 기온이 떨어진 날에는 어머님의 잠자리를 걱정하며 기도를 더해주셨습니다. 청평 철야정성에도 수많은 식구님들이 함께하며 눈물의 정성을 모으고 있습니다. 정성을 모아주신 전 세계 식구님들께 깊이 감사드리며, 한국협회는 교회 단위로 서울구치소 앞 평화기도회를 지속적으로 이어갈 예정입니다.

  참어머님을 세상에 알리자
  식구님들의 정성과 기도에도 불구하고 참어머님께서는 10월 10일 기소되셨습니다. 이제 법 절차에 따라 재판이 진행될 예정입니다. 우리는 이 기간 동안 참어머님께서 반드시 무죄 석방되실 수 있도록 믿음과 정성을 모아야 하겠습니다.
  이제 우리 모두가 해야 할 일은 참어머님을 세상에 바르게 알리는 것입니다. 참어머님은 평생을 인류 평화와 화합을 위해 헌신하신 분이십니다. 세계 각국에서 교육, 복지, 평화, 환경, 여성운동을 이끌어오신 참어머님의 업적과 진정성을 세상에 알려야 합니다. 또한 우리가 본연의 자리를 지키며, 가정과 교회, 사회 속에서 참사랑의 삶을 보여줄 때, 참어머님께서도 큰 힘을 얻으실 것입니다.

  지금은 하나됨이 필요할 때
  참어머님의 구속 이후, 여러 식구님들께서 깊은 안타까움 속에서 현 상황을 타개하기 위한 다양한 의견을 보내주셨습니다. 그러나 그 과정에서 일부 오해가 발생하여, 몇몇 언론에서 ‘비상대책위원회 출범’ 등 사실과 다른 내용이 보도되는 일이 있었습니다. 공식적으로 어떤 문서도 채택하거나 발표하지 않았음에도 불구하고, 일부 모임이 마치 결의를 통해 조직을 구성한 것처럼 비춰져 내부에 혼란과 오해가 확산된 것입니다.
  실제 상황은 전직 협회장, 기관장, 그리고 원로 식구님들을 중심으로 두 차례의 간담회가 있었고, 이를 계기로 ‘참어머님의 안위를 위한 축복가정지도자협의회’(가칭, 이하 ‘협의회’)가 정성과 지혜를 모아가는 과정이었습니다. 그러나 특정 개인의 문건이 관련된 것처럼 유포되면서 불필요한 혼란이 빚어졌습니다.
  이와 관련한 논란이 이어지자, 협의회는 깊은 유감을 표명하며 앞으로는 한국협회를 중심으로 교단의 미래에 기여하는 방향으로 모임을 이어갈 것임을 밝히는 입장문을 발표하였습니다.
  아울러, 불신이 더 깊어지는 것을 방지하기 위해 다음 사항을 간략히 안내드립니다. 참어머님과 정원주 전 부원장 등 가정연합 전반에 대한 변호는 법무법인 태평양 등이 함께 담당해 왔습니다. 그러나 법무법인 태평양은 정원주 전 부원장에 대한 법률대리에서 사임하는 절차가 진행중입니다. 이에 대해 근거 없는 추측이나 왜곡된 해석이 더 이상 확산되지 않기를 당부드립니다.

  차분한 성찰로 미래를 준비하자
  사랑하는 식구님, 지금은 차분한 마음으로 우리 자신을 성찰하며 미래를 준비해야 할 때입니다. 송용천 한국 협회장께서는 이번 사태를 단지 외부의 문제가 아니라, 우리 내부의 구조적 문제를 되돌아보게 하는 계기로 삼고자 하셨습니다. 이러한 지침을 중심으로 한국협회는 권한이 집중된 한 개인적인 일탈을 막지 못했던 조직의 관리체계와 책임 구조를 근본적으로 쇄신하고자 노력하고 있습니다.
  미래를 위한 준비는 하루아침에 이루어지지 않습니다. 조급함이나 분노보다 인내와 믿음으로 한 걸음씩 나아가야 합니다. 하늘부모님과 참부모님께서 이 과정을 통해 우리 모두를 새롭게 세워주시리라 믿습니다. 지금은 우리 모두 하나 되어 참어머님께서 돌아오실 길을 함께 열어가야 할 때입니다. 식구님들 모두 혼란과 불안을 넘어 믿음과 정성으로 함께 미래를 향해 나아갈 수 있기를 기도드립니다.
