On March 12, 2024, the 16th Pacific Christian Leadership Conference (PCLC) unfolded with an online fellowship under the theme “Empowering Youth for Compassionate Service,” echoing the words from Matthew 25:40, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

This virtual gathering brought together participants from nations, denominations, and walks of life to explore the intersection of faith, compassion, and service. It drew participation from 25 nations from across the Asia Pacific region including USA, Japan, Korea, and Nigeria, and attended by 673 online participants including the 22 Pastors who joined as actual attendees in the different nations.

Reverend Masaichi Hori, Chairman of the PCLC Executive Committee, then shared insightful opening remarks, emphasizing significance of empowering youth and fostering compassionate service within the global Christian community.

The first speaker, Reverend Daniel Meadows, Pastor of FFWPU in Victoria, Australia, took the virtual stage, delivering a stirring message on the role of the youth in shaping a compassionate and just world. In his message, he stressed that we could empower the youth with truth and bring them to compassionate service. He added that we must invest in the ones who will take position in society as the young people that we teach the truth to now will lead the nation tomorrow.

The second speaker was Bishop Dr. Joharni Bendoy of the Evangelical Bishops Conference of the Philippines who shared his wisdom, urging the youth to take an active role in promoting compassion and understanding. He said that empowering the youth to compassionate service starts with recognizing the divine in service, cultivating compassionate hearts among the youth, encouraging their active engagement, and inspiring lasting impact.

The 16th PCLC Online Fellowship was a testament to the power of unity, compassion, and the global reach of spiritual leaders and youth committed to making a positive impact on the world. As the virtual gathering concluded, participants were left with a renewed sense of purpose and a shared commitment to empower youth for compassionate service in their respective communities
