We held a “FORUM FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY” in coordination with the Committee on Human Rights and Equal Opportunities of the Chamber of Deputies, with the purpose of establishing ties with various organizations by promoting inter-institutional relations. The event had the participation of the Deputies: Betty Yañiquez Lozano, Bertha Acarapi, Sabina Condori, Juan José Torrez Flores.

At the beginning of the event, the National Anthem was sung accompanied by the National Police Band.

The welcoming words were given by the host Deputy Dr. Betty Yañiquez Lozano. Who emphasized the importance of commemorating International Women’s Day, honoring the sacrifice made by brave women who died in the fight for a 10-hour work schedule.

With the participation of religious leaders, the INTERCONFESSIONAL CEREMONY was held, all religious representatives offered prayers for world peace, the unity of the country, respect between all people without distinction of race, nationality, religion.

Three presentations were presented at the forum:

  • Human Rights, Female Empowerment, presented by Mr. Gustavo Mejía, Director of the Parent School
  • Female leadership, complementarity for a world of peace, by Dr. Melva Gamarra, lawyer specialized in Adolescent Criminal Law and family violence.
  • Women Leaders: Their role in building a world of freedom, peace and happiness, presented by Stria. UPF Gen.

The “Woman, Builder of Peace” recognition was given to women leaders in the political, religious, volunteer fields, and representatives of social organizations. 6 new Peace Ambassadors were appointed, who become part of the Global Network of Peace Ambassadors:

  1. Benedicta Copana Ramos, Union Leader
  2. Esperanza Torrez Betancourt, President of the “Origen” Organization, FEJUVE
  3. Alejandra Mamani Segales, President of the Union Council
  4. Remberto Cruz Pusarico, Vice President of the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights
  5. Francy Fabiola Pacheco Quisbert, Director of the Methodist Hospital
  6. Asunta Quispe, Executive of “Bartolina Sisa”

On the occasion, UPF-Bolivia received a Recognition from the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia for its contribution to the construction of a world of Peace that guarantees the full exercise of Human Rights.

Many participants expressed that the forum highlighted the importance of complementarity between men and women, that women are creators of great men in history, that equality is decreed from the very moment of human existence and rights are given by nature.
