Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental Disability caused by Differences in the brain. People with ASD often have problems with social communication and interaction and restricted or repetitive behaviors or interests. People with ASD may also have different ways of learning, moving, or paying attention.
This year, to mark the WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY, a seven-member team of women’s Federation Ghana visited the AUTISM AWARENESS CARE AND TRAINING CENTRE, located in Haatso, a suburb of Accra. The Centre has currently thirty students who are been supported by thirty teachers.
The students go through individual training related to their specific case but in general, the students are supported to develop vocational skills such as tailoring, hairdressing, bead making, weaving etc.
Our team was welcomed to the center in the morning of Friday, 14th April 2023 with a welcome Choreography performed by some autist students and their teachers. This was after, our team joined them in their morning routine exercise made of singing, dancing, clapping, and jumping.
Then, The Administrator of the Centre educated the WF team about the condition of Autist children and then made us visit the various classrooms. After the visit, our team presented a donation of Toiletries, snacks, and drinks to the Headmistress of the Centre in the Presence of the Founder of the Centre.
As mothers of women’s federation Ghana, we visited the Centre this year to share our True Mother’s heart with these children born with challenges and who must go through very special training to be able to make it in life. Our visit was well appreciated by the entire staff of the Centre.
