Father’s speech on July 31, 1994 at East Garden, Irvington, New York
My family is not just one family, but the representative family of all other families and central family representing heaven and earth. [In English: “Top Gun place.”] Unification Church members must realize this fully or you cannot connect to the ideal world.
August 1 (lunar calendar) of this year marks a new direction on the worldwide scale. We have reached the pinnacle of the hill and are ready to cross over to the other side. The satanic world will cease to fight us.
Your mind and your body have been fighting. Your couple has been fighting. Your children and relatives have been fighting. Your nation has been fighting. Heaven and earth have been fighting, too. All this fighting must stop in this year. The world will change drastically.
Starting in 1991, I established the Federation for World Peace, the Inter-Religious Federation for World Peace, the Women’s Federation for World Peace, the Student Federation for World Peace, and the Youth Federation for World Peace. These organizations relate as mind and body. On the body side is the political realm, centering on the United Nations. On the mind side is the religious realm, a religious United Nations, so to speak. The outer UN and inner UN will get together. Instead of the mind and body continuing to fight, they will make peace and live in harmony.
UNDERSTAND NATIONAL ROLES
The political realm has always had a strong influence over the religious realm, attacking it just as the body attacks the mind. On the body side was imperialism, including communism, while on the mind side was democracy. On the body side were the Axis powers, while on the mind side were the Allied powers. During World War II, England, America and France represented the heavenly side, while Japan, Germany and Italy represented the satanic side. The two sides struggled just like the mind and body.
England represented the Eve nation. An island country always represents Eve. France represented Cain, and the United States represented Abel. In the satanic world, Japan was in the position of Eve, Germany represented the satanic-side Abel, and Italy represented Cain.
After World War II, there was unity in the Christian world, representing the unity between Eve, Cain and Abel, centered on Christianity and the United Nations. This symbolized the restoration of the lost positions of Eve, Cain and Abel, rearranged and prepared for the Second Coming.
At the time of Jesus, no national base could be laid. This time, victory was gained on a worldwide base. Upon that foundation came the Second Coming. True Adam’s perfection means the Second Advent Messiah. At the fall, Eve embraced Satan and fallen Adam, and they went to hell. At this time Eve and Abel united on the worldwide base, and on that foundation they embraced true Adam, turning in the opposite direction, heading toward heaven. Satan’s side and heaven’s side are 180 degrees opposite. The family base at the time of Jesus expanded to the worldwide base. After World War II, the Christian world was prepared as the bride foundation, embracing both Cain and Abel countries.
American women act like queens, don’t they? Here women are in a superior position, and men have become almost their servants. Thus, America represents the position of the bride for the coming Second Advent. England, America and France will literally bow down to Reverend Moon. Is it possible? Is it easy to gain the position of king of kings? How can the Catholic and Protestant worlds dedicate themselves to Reverend Moon? How difficult is it for them? It is like dying. Those countries are based on the superiority of white people. They have never respected Eastern countries. If anything, they despise them, but they have been strong.
It is the archangel’s mission to protect the young Adam, and that is why America has been protecting Korea all along. In spite of all sorts of headaches, America could not let Korea go. If America was to abandon Korea, it would be doomed; so without their knowing, America had to continue protecting Korea. After World War II, America gave economic aid to many foreign countries, but none succeeded as much as Korea. Korea got on its own two feet. In contrast, one-third of the countries in Asia became communist.
Truly, the war that started between the mind and body of individuals has expanded to worldwide fighting. That is the meaning of history. Even today, we sometimes feel a fierce conflict between our mind and body. Our mission is to bring them together in unity.
Satan is now being chased out of all the activities in which he had participated. When our mind and body become one, Satan loses his foundation. When Satan no longer exists, that is the Kingdom of Heaven. This will be accomplished on the worldwide scale by the Inter-Religious Federation for World Peace and the other federations for world peace.
[Father spoke in English about how divisions and fighting resulted from the fall. He established the various federations for world peace to create a unified world base. Without a center, Cain and Abel always fight. Without a vertical center, people cannot orient themselves, focus on a goal or make a settlement. Father has been setting one unified direction for the world.]
UNDERSTAND MY MISSION
This is what was supposed to happen when World War II ended, but it did not happen. America has destroyed itself. I came to America to restore it to the position it held right after World War II. American Christianity must follow me. They are ready to follow me now.
The democratic world represents the thief on Jesus’ right hand at the crucifixion. The communist world represents the thief on the left. In Adam’s family, Cain represented the left wing while Abel represented the right wing. This fighting expanded to the worldwide level, centering on True Father. At Jesus’ time, the Israelites represented the Cain side, and Judaism represented the Abel side. If Cain and Abel had unified, the mother could have appeared as Jesus’ bride. The unity between Eve, Abel and Cain forms the national base, the starting point for the ideal nation. However, with his death on the cross, Jesus’ mission was defeated. Cain and Abel were represented by the thief on the left and the thief on the right.
At the Second Advent, those separate, warring sides will be unified through the Messiah. The Cain-type world and the Abel-type world must unite centering on the Eve nation, which should unite with the bridegroom, who is connected to God.
God chased the real husband, the real owner, out of the Garden of Eden. Now the Eve realm has united with Cain, Abel and Eve and planted a seed that will bear fruit in those countries. Centering on Eve’s position, God and the Second Advent can connect with the Christian world and form Eden on the worldwide level. This is a possibility.
RESTORE THE FOUNDATION OF VALUE
After World War II, Satan completely occupied the Christian world. Christians helped even the communist student demonstrators. When the Lord of the Second Advent was rejected, the American family broke down. Family values broke down. There was no emphasis on the value of the grandfather, parents and brothers. The foundation for value was lost, and people turned to drugs and homosexuality. This was never God’s desire. It is the fulfillment of Satan’s desire, the expansion of hell on earth. You cannot deny that.
American people do not have hope. Women have given up hope of finding real men. Real parents and real families do not exist. If America continues to decline, it will perish. This is not just a concept, but the actual situation. American people cannot deny their situation. The free world has been following America’s example.
Heaven on earth could have been realized between 1945 and 1952, when the world was prepared to unite with the Lord of the Second Advent. During these seven years God intended the world to be unified. During the forty years from 1952 until 1992, the Lord of the Second Advent had to restore this broken foundation, fighting on each level from the individual to the worldwide scale. It took 4,000 years to establish a foundation. During these past forty years I had to indemnify and rebuild the same foundation. From the central four position foundation, the family, clan, race and nation have expanded.
Four thousand years of history and 400 years of history could be fulfilled in forty years. Because of the fall, the number four, representing the four position foundation, was lost. I cannot live 400 years. No one can live 400 years, let alone 4,000. During these forty years my mission was to lay all the indemnity conditions. All humankind and all of the satanic world united against me. Satan attacked me on the individual and family levels. People accused me of cheating old women. Some women left their husbands and children to follow me. Their children and husbands united against me. The world opposed me and called me a swindler.
CHANGE THE WORLD
Centering upon me, restoration expanded to the family, tribe, nation, world and cosmos. After the fall, people were separated from God. God could not enter the fallen atmosphere in which people lived. God cannot live in the realm of conflict. World history until now has been filled with conflict. Many countries have a history of fighting. This world is a bad world. America is a bad country. Your body itself is a battlefield, isn’t it? Religions aim for a peaceful world without conflict.
No matter how difficult the situation, we have to cleanse and change this world, otherwise we cannot realize the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. All religions are concentrating on this same point.
There are many varieties of boundaries in the world. We have to tear down every boundary and make one interconnected world. I won the victory against Satan on the individual base, the family base, the national base, the worldwide base and the cosmic base. No matter how much God longed to be close to an individual, endless boundaries, walls and fences separated them. However, I knocked them all down.
Adam and Eve lost the family base. This lost family base is being re-created by blessed couples. Blessed couples overcome all barriers, including race. Centering on True Parents and True Parents’ children, the original brotherhood can be created and expanded to families and relatives and nations.
THE ROLES OF KOREA AND JAPAN
North and South Korea represent the free world and the communist world. One world denies God, while the other recognizes God. The center of fighting in the whole universe is the Korean peninsula. Satan’s second advent occurred in the form of Kim Il Sung, the worst parent. In the Christian world, True Parents appeared, but the Christian world chased out the king of kings. Kim Il Sung held power through fear, threatening to invade South Korea. The ultimate fighting field that represents the world is North Korea.
Centering on Korea, America represents the heavenly archangel, China represents the archangel of the Eastern world, and the Soviet Union represents the archangel of the satanic world. Japan represents Eve’s world, with three archangels surrounding it, representing the three archangels at the time of Adam and Eve. Now nations stand in the place of the original individuals. If the Christian world in the Cain position and Father’s world in the Abel position had united, communism would not have appeared.
America represents the Abel-type bride position, while the free world represents the Cain-type bride position. When Cain and Abel unite through give and take action, the mother appears. When Eve and the two sons unite, they can connect with the original perfected Adam and perfected ideal master, God. Their family then becomes the central family. Because of these historical events, I and my family are the representative and central family.
However, since each individual is divided, how can unity come about? We cannot unite on our own; only by going through these patterns. Because of the fall, parents were lost, children were lost, and even God was lost. Through our family, we must restore everything lost through the fall.
Restoration takes place in a reverse way. Since Satan occupies the head position, God has to take the tail position. Abel has to regain the authority and position of the elder brother. Without paying indemnity we cannot return to the original place. The next step is to find the mother and restore her. Through the mother, Cain and Abel unite, creating the family base, national base and worldwide base. The true husband is the Second
Advent Messiah, whose mission is to perfect the worldwide base. The owner of the restoration mission is the Messiah, True Father, and he connects with God. In the course of restoration, God has been in agony, shedding tears. With the victorious foundation at the Second Advent, we can liberate God. God can then become a glorious God.
Centering on Korea, the three archangel countries look to Japan, who is in the Eve position. America, China and the Soviet Union want to combine with Eve. These four countries are competing with each other to win Japan and occupy the bride. When ownership among those countries is settled, a peaceful direction for the world will emerge.
With the unification of the world, the time has come for the global family. People talk about the global village. However, it is the global family, not the global village, which is the core of the Kingdom of Heaven on the earth.
No one can deny that history has been characterized by indemnification. When we restore all the lost elements-father, mother, children and angels-we become representative families centering on God. True Parents have made the foundation. Your family’s challenge is to unite with True Parents’ family. You have to work hard. True Parents’ family is showing the formula course for the family. It is terribly difficult to combine horizontal and vertical.
Once our mind and body are united, we seek the mother. Centering on mother, Cain and Abel must become one. This is exactly the reverse of what happened at the fall. After the fall, the mind and body became separated, the mother was lost, and Cain and Abel were lost. So now it is time to restore the mother and restore our mind and body.
We must go through the historical steps of restoration to find our family. True Parents’ family went through the course as the typical family. I and my family have received world-level persecution. I established a family, breaking down the walls and restoring the clan, race, the nation and so forth. Now, I am back in Asia, dealing with the Adam nation, Eve nation and archangel nations.
So many things have happened recently in North Korea, centering on its youth. The political situation deteriorated to the brink of atomic war. I sent my representative and an American representative to speak to Kim Il Sung. They met and they made peace. Centering on the United Nations, the mother has to restore the children of the world, represented by South Korean youth and North Korean youth.
After World War II, the Eve nation, the Abel nation and the Cain nation were lost. Forty years later, these three need to be regained. Otherwise, we cannot reach the original, ideal Kingdom of Heaven on earth. In the Garden of Eden, the archangel and Eve united and went down to hell. Now Eve reaches out to the archangel position. Mother reached out to save Cain and Abel, through her speeches at the US Capitol and the United Nations. By welcoming people, rather than opposing them, she made a victorious foundation of unity and embraced the Abel and Cain nations. However, Mother as an individual does not have a nation.
The Japanese government has opposed us. Through the national news media, they persecuted us and tried to push us out. But when Mother overwhelmed Japan, no one could oppose her. They heard her words and welcomed her. As a result, the Eve nation, the Abel nation and the Cain nation united centering on Mother. Mother represents the central bride in the nations that represent the bride position. Those nations need to unite centering on the Messiah.
The same situation occurred after World War II, when England, America and France, as bride nations, should have united to welcome the bridegroom. They then should have returned to the original hometown nation, the Korean peninsula, and united with the mother and father.
This year we have returned to the circumstances after World War IL The Unification Church is in the Abel position, and the Christian world is in the Cain position. No matter how much noise the Christian world makes, they are declining. Satan’s people have occupied the Christian realm.
PROMOTE GODISM
To win back the young people, the Youth Federation for World Peace was created on July 26, 1994. Previously I had created the Inter-Religious Federation for World Peace, the Federation for World Peace and the Women’s Federation for World Peace (the victorious Eve’s foundation, Mother’s foundation). Eve’s nation, Japan, connected to Mother. Japan, which was formerly on Satan’s side, has joined God’s side, centering on the Second Advent. The universe is heading in the direction of Godism, headwing ideology.
No matter how much effort people made, it resulted in a defeated world. Even using all their power, talent and intelligence, how can people save the world? All the efforts of the communist world and free world have collapsed. Only Godism and head wing ideology can save the world. Human effort is not enough. From now on, our activity will lift up the nation and the world.
Under a democracy, brothers fight. Under parentism and Godism, there is no fighting. True Parents means real parents and real children. The real teacher, the king of teachers, is Father. The real king of kings is Father. Parent, teacher and king are the ideal subjects. Kim Il Sung tried to become such a subject, but his teaching is false. My teaching is the real one.
Centering on True Parents, everything can be unified: the economy, politics, religion, culture and art. I have made that sort of foundation. To scientists, cultural leaders, politicians and diplomats, I proclaim one world under Godism. Human-kind by itself cannot ensure the survival of the world.
INHERIT EVERYTHING FROM ME
Through following these steps, you can invite God to live with you and your family. Through this historical perspective, you should realize that your family is the representative family and central family. That is the topic of my sermon this morning. I have gone through the restoration process, step by step, and have won the victory. Your families must follow. I gave you the blessing. God gave you the blessing so you can make your family a model family that all the other families of the world can emulate. You must learn from our family and inherit from us.
As a result, my family and your family are in a father-son relationship. The son can automatically inherit everything the father has. I will bequeath everything to those families who can substantiate the claim, “Yes, Father, I have trod the same course as you did and now I realize a central and representative family.” I did it concretely, physically, but all you have to do is follow my family in the depths of your heart. By doing so, you become the same. Simply put, God and my family have become one. Your family then should become one with my family, creating three generations of unity.
The way of perfection must be accomplished horizontally. God is standing at the horizontal point, the grandfather position; Adam and Eve are in the parents’ position; their children are in the position of children and grandchildren. The fall kept the three generations from being fulfilled horizontally. Laterally, God is standing on my right side, and you are standing on my left. This unity of three generations is the basis for horizontal world settlement.
Now God, True Parents and their children make connections all over the world. The free world can be liberated, based on this horizontal unity. God can freely visit the earth, spending time with individuals, families, tribes and nations throughout the world. There are no obstacles in God’s path. God can automatically appear in the center of the individual, the family, the nation and the world, because everything belongs to God. This is God’s original ideal of creation: worldwide perfection, the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. True love covers the world.
The conclusion is clear: I represent God, I represent the center of humankind, and I represent True Parents’ family, God’s family center. This network is expanding to the world, centering on blessed couples. Now you realize deeply that your family is the representative and the center family.
BE LORD OF ALL THINGS
Millions of created beings have lived and are alive today, but they are in lamentation. They grieve because the world has never had the right master. The right master failed, and for thousands and thousands of years God has been struggling to restore that failure. During this time, all things in the animal kingdom and the plant kingdom have continued to grieve. This has been going on so long that now, in the Last Days, creatures are suffering from sickness.
Because of my complete settlement and your family’s potential to settle in the center of the world, we will quickly take our position and become the true master, the true center of all things. Now all things are about to revive. The true master consoles all things. We should know how to shed tears for the sake of the flowers, asking them: “How long have you been waiting and grieving?” We should deal with all things like a true center and a true master. Since I am liberated, I am passing this liberation on to you. You then should liberate all things, blessing them with your hands. True Parents will be so close to you, your family and your environment. God will be right next to you, because He is right next to True Parents’ family. How staggering it is! Suddenly you and your family can be liberated. Not only you, but all things, can be liberated because of these connections. You must clearly understand your position. No matter how deep your thoughts and appreciation, unless you act, that world cannot become your world.
BEAR THE RESPONSIBILITY
The central, representative family is our topic. The central person or central family must bear responsibility. Central people and central families must protect their objects and help them grow and develop. In addition to nurturing and raising others up, the central being must help them develop in a balanced way, not favoring one person over another.
I bear that responsibility; therefore, I am always at the front. Wherever there is a critical problem or question, I am always present. I did not do anything wrong to deserve to be sent to jail. It was the members who did not do their part. However, since the responsibility was shifted to me, I had to go to jail often.
In the early times, I discouraged members from completely dedicating their lives to the church. I urged them: “Stay in your family, bear the burden of your family, and follow me at the same time.” But many young members just left their homes. Since it caused social unrest I had to pick up the responsibility, and I ended up in jail. Following my example, you as central and representative families must also take responsibility for the consequences. We have the responsibility of protecting those who are under us.
Now the Unification Church has gone into debt, and we have to find money to repay it. I am now single-handedly fighting that situation by bringing 160,000 Japanese women and teaching them for three days; they have been donating $10,000 a person. With this money I am paying off the indebtedness. I always offer myself. It is difficult to bear the position of offering, but everything has to bow down to the offering. Am I indebted to you, or are you indebted to me? At least you know.
CREATE ONE WORLD UNDER GOD
You have persevered through many things along the way. Think about what you have gone through between the day you joined the Unification Church and now. You feel the difference, don’t you? You have grown considerably. You have changed 180 degrees, from earth to heaven. Those who would say, “Oh, Father, I deteriorated. I became worse,” raise your hands. This is why God is striking those who oppose our path.
I am the only one person in history to bring such large sums of money to pour out for this country. I have invested people, money-power and spirit-power into America. Am I supposed to do that forever or should Americans take this burden upon their shoulders at some point? The time for you to shoulder that burden is now.
America is a nation of immigrants. It should be one nation centering on God, not on itself. God’s concept is one world under God, but American people are ignorant of this. Since I came to America many years ago, I have been promoting the concept of one world under God, centering on America. I have not been able to cast this country aside. I want to stop America from perishing. I want to restore it as an ideal country. One nation under God is too self-centered. It is not good enough for God. God’s ideal is one world under God. You must be the representative family of the entire world, not just one country.
DEVELOP OCEAN RESOURCES
If somebody is starving, it is our concern. For twenty years I have been making a strong foundation by developing the fishing and marine industries. The ocean is virtually untapped, because life at sea is so hard. Americans do not want to go to the ocean, because they have plenty to eat on land. However, land resources will not last forever. The American soil may become exhausted. You have to develop the ocean. No one can deny that the direction of the future lies in the ocean. The ocean is the last frontier.
These past twenty years were foundation years. Although it may seem meager, it is a good foundation for the future because the sea occupies three times the area of the land. In the sea can be found an enormous amount of resources, perhaps more than on land. To tap and develop these resources is our task as true masters.
When I started this work twenty years ago, Americans with a very narrow perspective complained that I was invading their territory. For fifteen years they kept trying to safeguard their small, so-called territory. Only in the last couple of years have they stopped protesting, knowing that they will eventually benefit.
No one can chase me away from the ocean. I have been riding boats for twenty years. I knew that no satanic people would ever be serious about saving their so-called brothers and sisters. Only the true master of the world can and must take responsibility to protect people and prevent them from starving. In that respect I have been the center and the champion of ocean enterprises. What you do not like someone else will snatch from you, and you will be deprived.
Who currently dominates the seashores and ocean enterprises? Recent immigrants from all over the world are harvesting the ocean’s bounty.
I have endless memories of persecution and discrimination. When I applied to establish a fish farm on the West coast, they said we would have to wait for them to enact a law. We waited, but when the law was passed, the authorization was given to someone else who had nothing to do with the pioneering. We were the pioneers, but they bypassed us. It was preposterous. Everywhere we went, we have been pioneers, but people persecuted us. Now they are doing everything that I proposed.
I have a vision that America’s millionaires will come to think and act exactly like me. They will sell their property and use the proceeds to save the people of Africa. When Americans do this, it will ensure America’s survival, and Americans will experience unprecedented prosperity. To set up a bureau of emigration is America’s present-day task. Americans should emigrate all over the world, working in the position of Abel to save Cain. This will be the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
A blessed couple in which one spouse is Zambian must go to Zambia. Someone who says, “I like America and want to stay here,” has no place. Americans should go to Zambia and make Zambia like America. When I give that order, will you go? Would you trade your house in America for the worst hut in Africa? The size of your house is nothing, compared with the blessings you have received from me.
In Japan this is already happening. One person sold land and donated $100 million (US) from the proceeds. That person then moved into a one-room -apartment. God would look down on such a person and say, “How wonderful! You are a king of property.” Our time on earth is limited, while our existence in the spirit world is forever. People who willingly give their sweat, tears and blood on earth will be kings in the spirit world.
BECOME BROADER AND BETTER PEOPLE
When you sit down to eat, have you ever been so choked up with tears that you could not eat? Imagine people all over the world weeping at mealtime because of True Parents and God. What an incredible experience of worldwide sharing!
Only because today is Sunday did I dress up like this, with a necktie. Generally, I wear very simple clothes. When the weather is warm, I wear only a shirt and pants, not even socks. Be frugal. Do not be extravagant.
When I am here, you feel full. However, when I go away from America, you feel empty, don’t you? Your heart feels vacant. Who made you feel like that? God did.
Every person in a difficult situation calls out to God for help. That cry comes naturally. You follow your parents without being taught to do so. Automatically your mind wants to follow your parents. Children naturally cling to their mother’s skirts. Our minds move automatically, without being instructed. God made us that way.
When you are moved with a deep yearning to save the world and you tearfully speak about this to the multitudes, they will certainly listen to you. When somebody close to you dies, you feel so much grief. Contrast that feeling to your emotion when a country is about to perish. You will find that there is no comparison. From my early childhood, when I had an occasion to grieve, I immediately thought, “Can I compare this grief of mine, which is so painful, to that of God, who lost the nation, the world, His own children?” I always made sure I did the right thing and went the right path. Even under such difficult circumstances, I realize that God is always in a far more difficult position. You, too, should live like that.
Use each experience as an opportunity to become a broader and better person, like God. Resolve to save the world. Every day you have to live like that. When people become angry and bitter during the process of a divorce, I look at them and think: if I were in that situation, I would never do that. I would wish the other person great blessing and I would try to pioneer again, rather than becoming bitter and cursing the other happens, no matter how small, can be a lesson to us.
Often God has promised me the highest, most exalted position, but then put me in the lowest place. I imagine I am beneath a flat-bottom boat, and heaven is on the top, with only a thin layer of wood separating me from heaven. If you think like that, God will embrace you. During the most difficult situations, God connects with me and embraces me. In such circumstances, we can feel God right beside us.
Satan cannot connect with the central, dark root. Satan governs the realm of darkness, but even Satan does not want to live in the depths of darkness. When we go to the darkest place, God will visit us and remain with us, bringing His light. When you are the source of light for the darkest realm, God will come and expand that light with the brightness of His kingdom. God will want to elevate you to the highest place and bequeath everything to you.
As you know, for the representative family to go out to fight and win is very difficult. God’s strategy is to place his representative right at the top and let everybody persecute him. If you persevere through that persecution, you will have won the war. Satan can go his way, but he cannot go God’s way. We may have come from a bad place, but if we reach the crossing point and take the right direction, that is what counts. When we go beyond the worst things that Satan can throw at us, we reach God’s domain.
BECOME THE FAMILY SEED
We must unite as mind and body, as husband and wife, and as parents and children. When all these elements are united, we become the representative and the center. We become the family seed. From the small family seed comes the family king, tribal king, national king, worldwide king and cosmic king, representing God’s position. God wanted to become the family king, the tribal king, national king, worldwide king and cosmic king. We need to pass on that tradition to the next generation and expand the family base, tribal base, national base and worldwide base. The center is the family. To establish the representative and central family is the direction of history. Every family needs to head in this direction. Your family and your descendants need to follow the pattern of the true Adam’s family.
The seed is sown, and at harvest time the fruit bears more of the same seed. The seeds planted multiply. The mother seed and the children’s seed have the same value, the same life potential. Adam’s family is the seed and represents central family. Your family has to become the same seed. The seed needs to expand and become the family king, tribal king, national king, worldwide king and cosmic king, representing God and True Parents. Each seed has the same meaning. No matter how many generations are produced, they have the same value. The seed at harvest has the same contents and value as the seed at planting time.
