Father’s Speech At The Leaders Conference On April 17, 1995 At East Garden, Irvington, New York. Father opened the conference by matching groups of eight states from the United States with groups of five nations from South America or the Caribbean to create a structure that will facilitate the development of unity between North America and South America. At the end of the speech there will be three declaration.
I WANT to unite North and South America. South America is based upon the Latin culture, while North America is based upon the Anglo-Saxon culture, They are in a Cain-Abel struggle, Therefore,
I want to have them unite and function as one continent. Catholicism is in the position of Cain and Protestantism in the position of Abel; when they combine, they will be able to lead the whole world and revive Christianity. Christianity’s concern should be to save the world, not simply the nation. From God’s viewpoint, we need one world under God. However, Christianity as it stands today, divided into Cain and Abel, cannot save this world. Only when they combine will they be able to save this world. Our mission is to bring them into unity, no matter what difficulty we may face.
Jacob’s household was divided, with the brothers fighting each other. Israel was divided into north and south, with ten tribes in the North and two tribes in the South. Fighting went on among Jesus’ disciples as well. When North and South America combine into one, they will represent the world center. Therefore, no matter what, it is our mission to unite north and south.
Have you heard the recent news about my last visit to South America? (No.) Reverend Chung Hwan Kwak will share the messages called the “Sao Paulo Declaration,” the “New Hope Farm Declaration,” and the “Declaration of the Blessed Family.” [Reverend Kwak read the “Sao Paulo Declaration,” included herein. Father asked Reverend Kwak to add that even four months could be sufficient to fulfill our responsibility.]
Historical background
[Father then spoke at length about the-providential background for this era, culminating in his first forty-year course.] If the president of a nation were to join and follow True Parents’ direction, then to bring that nation would not be difficult. It would be possible to fulfill our responsibility in such a short time because Satan’s fundamental persecution is already over. Since you all stand upon my worldwide victorious foundation, when my name is liberated, our way will be free of persecution. I must restore and lay indemnity conditions for the worldwide and cosmic levels. Even though my foundation exists in over 160 nations, I as the center still have to sacrifice for 160 nations. However, you have responsibility for one single nation and people. My victorious foundation is already beyond the nation al level, but Satan cannot go beyond the national base. Only God can go over the national level. Now I am going over the national level, connecting this victorious condition to the cosmic world. Do you understand?
Only the good archangel base can influence the earth, and the bad archangel base will be chased out. Do you understand? (Yes, Father.) People in the outside society have their individual center, family center, national center and worldwide center. Now the family has crumbled and no power on earth can unify the family or the nation. That is Satan’s complicated kingdom in the fallen world. Satan has created these complications, and the world is breaking down.
However, on the opposite side, God’s place centering upon Father includes the individual center, family center, tribal center, national center, worldwide center, cosmic center and God’s center of true love. There is one vertical pillar connecting and combining those eight levels, centering upon true love. Once this pillar is set up with a vertical axis, no one can move it. This pillar is strong enough to repel America and even Satan. Is this clear? (Yes.) You can control the spiritual world when you are in the position of the perfected Adam and his family, because the spiritual world is in the archangel position.
This (indicating the blackboard) is the history of restoration from the individual to the worldwide level. There are two different ways to view it: vertically and horizontally. Vertically speaking, you progress through eight stages from the individual to the cosmic level. Because this is the history of restoration, it will return to the individual level, indemnifying the 4,000 years since the time bf Jacob.
During World War II, Great Britain, America and France represented the right side, while Japan, Germany and Italy represented the left side. (Father draws on the board.) The Axis countries, in the position of Cain, attacked the Allied countries in the position of Abel. This took place at the worldwide level. At that point, if worldwide Christianity had been united with me, no further vertical structure would have been necessary. They would have been able to horizontally develop the individual level, family level, society level and all the way to the worldwide level without persecution.
Therefore, if ·worldwide Christianity had united with me right after World War II, these eight horizontal stages would have been completed and the entire world would have become one centering upon the Lord of the Second Advent. The Allied countries were based upon Christianity, so we can place them in a more spiritual position, and the Axis countries represented the physical side. World War II should have finished the battle between the spiritual and physical realms. Therefore, it was a great opportunity for the world to become united ·without any persecution. Centering upon the Messiah’s family, all stages would have been accomplished to the worldwide level. The Messiah’s tribe is the extension of his family, and each higher level is an extension of the previous level, the last one being the worldwide stage, which includes all the other smaller stages. This could have been accomplished during the seven years between 1945 and 1952. Do you understand? (Yes.)
Because World War II was supposed to have finished the battle between the physical and spiritual side, the entire world would have become one if worldwide Christianity had united with me. There would have been no boundaries at the individual, family or national levels. This would have culminated 4,000 years of historical restoration. God had been working through all manner of religions up to that point. Great Britain stood in the position of Eve, America in the position of Abel, and France in the position of Cain. These three had to unite according to the pattern of Adam’s family, which included Eve, Cain and Abel. This formula of unification applied at the worldwide level during World War II. The window of opportunity came right at the end of World War II for this bride culture to unite the entire world and build the Kingdom of God on earth. If the bride, worldwide Christianity, had embraced the bridegroom, at that point the world would have become one.
Human history started with marriages centered upon Satan. What began on the family level multiplied and extended to the worldwide level. At the end of World War II, the entire fallen history could have been reversed. Beginning with True Parents’ marriage, the entire ·world would have been restored through marriage. Because the mistake of the fall involved marriage, we have to take the reversal course back to the original point to reach completion. God has utilized religions throughout history to help humankind reach this point. Once we eliminate Satan, this entire spectrum can spread out horizontally and there will be no boundary whatsoever.
At the end of World War II, the Allied countries won the victory. However, for whose sake was the victory won? Not for America, not for Great Britain, not for France. The victory of World War II was to restore on the worldwide level the vertical and horizontal relationships which were destroyed by the fall in Adam’s family. The Allied victory was not for the benefit of any individual country, but for the sake of God, to build the Kingdom of God on earth.
When the family base was lost at the fall, Satan claimed Eve, Cain and Abel on every level, up to the worldwide level. Satan always attacks first. How can we reunite the mind and body, which have been separated on all eight levels from the individual to the worldwide level? Japan, Germany and Italy represented the side of Satan or the body; while England, America and France represented the side of God or the spirit. Just as the flesh side attacked the spirit side at the time of the fall, on the worldwide level Japan, Germany and Italy attacked England, America and France. The 100 percent victory brought them back to that original point. Do you follow? Is it clear?
Without the fall, these eight stages could have developed naturally centering on Adam’s family. Even though the different stages have developed externally, all of them belonged to Satan. That is why they could have been reversed and restored on the worldwide level at the end of World War II. World War II was equivalent to the battle of Arma-geddon mentioned in the Bible. It was the war to eliminate Satan’s power for eternity. Through the fall, people lost the elder sonship, parenthood and kingship. There-fore, those Allied countries were supposed to become totally one and restore the elder son’s birth-right, True Parents’ position, and finally kingship on the earth.
Adam’s family lost the subject-object relationship. Eve did not keep absolute faith in God or establish the absolute parent-child relationship between God and humankind that would have led to brotherhood, centering on love. Love is the power that can unify mind and body. Because Eve did not make oneness with God, the absolute love concept was lost. Adam and Eve received the warning directly from God not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If they had obeyed absolutely, there would have been no fall.
If Adam and Eve had obeyed God with absolute faith and offered God absolute love, then God would have become the essence of their absoluteness. Eventually God’s love would have flowed to humankind, establishing the absolute society and world. In essence, God would have given their absoluteness back again to human beings.
Because Cain murdered Abel, we need to restore absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience. Without these three, you cannot perfect the elder sonship, connect with True Parents, or obtain kingship. In the last days, all of humankind has to demonstrate absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience. Since Satan understands this end time very well, he has created the individual hell and extended it to the world. Satan planted the free sex concept, which is giving us the hardest time on the worldwide level. Teenagers around the world have this problem. Homosexuality denies the opposite side, because they are in the position of the archangel. Those who follow those concepts will perish. Do you understand? (Yes, Father.)
Satan’s atmosphere of hell is surrounding the earth. You have to break out from it. Satan’s hellish dominion promotes individualism. In God’s world, everything is connected to everything else, and there is no concept of privacy. The earth is connected to the plant world, the plant world to the animal world, the animal world to the human world, and the human world to God. Every type of existence is connected. Knowing that God wants to make a unified world, Satan figured out how to break all the connections, creating a hellish world. Do you understand?
Satan occupied America for forty years. If I had not come, you would not be able to understand. How can you make the foundation for parents otherwise? You would just be making the foundation to perish. Satan’s completion is death. This is God’s viewpoint of the providence. Is this clear? (Yes.) America is full of individualism. America belongs to hell! Americans proclaim, “We do not need grandparents. We do not need parents. We do not need men and women. We do not need brothers.” This attitude has completely broken down the family system. In contrast, Unificationists need to proclaim that we absolutely do need grandparents, parents, couples and children. We need both the vertical and the horizontal connections. Do you understand? (Yes.) You have to understand this.
Right after World War II, it would have taken only seven years to build the Kingdom of God on earth, centering upon the Messiah who was in the position of the True Parents of humankind. However, this entire world, based upon Christianity, chased the Messiah out into the wilderness. Even though I was chased out, I was still connected to God absolutely. However, I lost all the objects of the physical world. Therefore, to indemnify the 4,000 years of historical preparation, I needed to lay a condition of forty years. Satan knew our plan, so he concentrated all of his effort on destroying the foundation within America. This is the only explanation why America has almost been destroyed internally after achieving a position as the leading nation of the world. America was the Christian base with which the Messiah needed to work. This is the foundation that Satan has worked to destroy. This is why America is in the situation it is today.
Communism joined Christianity. Satan used the communist world to influence the Christian world against God. Thus Satan controlled both the Christian and communist worlds, combining them to make a unified foundation against me. I had to destroy communism, because there was no hope for me to work with Christianity, without separating communism from Christianity.
(Father writes on the board.) The Messiah replaced the original Christian providential countries of England, America and France with Japan, America and Germany. After World War II, Japan and Germany were defeated and almost reduced to ashes. However, because I chose them to replace the original Allied countries, they have prospered and received all the benefits from the Western culture. Because we have to restore these original Allied countries, I sent out missionaries from Japan, America and Germany, launching a new offensive against communism and Christianity from God’s side.
Some years ago, the Carter administration took the direction that Reverend Moon’s strategy to spread his ideology through-out the world should be stopped. When I was launching this worldwide campaign, Christianity, in the position of Judaism at the time of Jesus Christ, and communism, in the position of the Roman Empire, joined to oppose me, duplicating the unified efforts of Judaism and the Roman empire to oppose Jesus. That is why I have had to walk the road of the cross in the twentieth century. The only difference is that Satan did not have any condition to eliminate the Messiah this time, because this is no longer the tribal or national level, but the worldwide level. However, opposition was still there. (Applause.) I had to begin from scratch, working my way up from the individual level to the worldwide level.
During the last forty years I have won the victory on each level. Now I have set up the worldwide Cain and Abel on the continents of South America and North America. I will establish a worldwide foundation through uniting these Cain and Abel continents. During the last twenty years, the Unification Church, centering upon me, was in the position of Abel and American Christianity was in the position of Cain. Christianity has opposed the Unification Church all along, but the Unification Church has been going up and Christianity has been going down. Finally, we have reached the point where American Christianity must work with the Unification Church. They need help from Reverend Moon and the Unification Church, otherwise they will disappear. In terms of the relationship between American Christianity and the American government, Christianity is in the position of Abel and the American government is in the position of Cain.
The Unification Church has been working to bring about the national-level unity between Cain and Abel. The goal of the Unification Church is worldwide Cain-Abel unity. The Unification Church has set the proper condition to claim a victory in America on the worldwide level between Cain and Abel. Now we are trying to combine North and South America.
The Japanese women who came to this country created unity with the women representatives of the archangel country. The time has now come for all American women to declare their opposition to free sex and homosexuality. Due to these immoral I practices, Westerners cannot find ideal spouses, and they look instead toward the Orient to find ideal partners.
Weak women need that unchangeable, eternal partner. Oriental men are small, but they have strong power. Western women want those Oriental men. Do you understand? Therefore, those America playboys will not have any place to go. They will have to divorce their spouses and live alone because they will not be able to find an ideal partner here. This is a world of hell, the worst kind of world. Is this clear? (Yes, Father.) You American men, do you really enjoy your privacy and your individualism? (No.) We have to solve this problem of individualism. No military power or academic knowledge can solve these problems. Against the power of hell you need a high spiritual leader who can save you from going down. Only God and Unificationism, centering upon True Parents, can do this. You have to understand this clearly. Well, none of you fulfilled your missions and enjoyed your lives in your own way. Which way do you want to follow?
During this forty-year period, all blessed couples were supposed to accomplish their missions and remain absolutely united with True Parents, but they failed. I alone have been working through all of these different stages until this level. Now I have to work with the second generation. Because we lost the foundation of the first generation, the second generation faces the same situation of having to be totally united with True Parents and restore all the different stages during the second forty-year period. Do you understand? (Yes.) I declared the home church campaign and other necessary projects, but everyone failed. Everyone, without exception, has to go through this process again. It is the only way restoration can be accomplished. We have to begin again from the bottom point. The tools that we need are absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience. The same principle that applies to me applies to the individual, family, society and higher levels. By applying this formula of absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience, I have accomplished many things thus far.
If I fail to practice these criteria, Satan will kick me. That is why I cannot com-plain. I always apply the principle of absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience. Even in prison, I will not waver, even on the deathbed. The various religions all practice, in one way or another, absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience; theirs has been a history of suffering, agony and martyrdom. God is the center of absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience. Therefore, if God is in the position of subject, we as objects have to inherit God’s eternal characteristics and God’s blessing. God created Adam and Eve on the base of absolute faith, love and obedience because God Himself is sacrificial. He invested everything in the spirit of absoluteness. Therefore, to be restored we absolutely must go through these eight different stages and practice absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience.
If the twelve disciples of Jesus had been able to demonstrate absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience, Jesus would never have been crucified. Blessed couples of the Unification Church are supposed to be above the level of Jesus Christ, so you should practice absolute faith, love and obedience and then unite with True Parents absolutely. However, in reality you have been living freely on your own. You failed to restore your Cain at the family, society, national and worldwide levels. Therefore, I am now giving a precious opportunity for North American Protestants to offer everything to restore South America, which is in the position of Cain on the worldwide level.
I have invested every ounce of my energy, even going into debt, for the sake of North America. Standing in Abel’s position, I have been working to save America in Cain’s position. All American people have received my spirit. Now you have to save Cain-South America. When there is a high atmosphere on the one hand and a low atmosphere on the other, nature brings the high down. Americans say they do not need South America, calling it a low-level area. Now you must go the opposite way and fill up the low areas. American people, if you have land or a house, you should sell it for the sake of saving South America. Without saving this elder brother, you cannot return to True Parents, find the True Family, or gain entry into the true Kingdom of Heaven on earth. This is a reasonable conclusion. No matter how smart you are you cannot deny this. Is this clear? (Yes, Father.) I cannot believe you.
These eight different stages are like a broken ladder that we have to reconnect and rebuild. It is going to be easier than the course which I took for forty years. It may only take you four years because of my victory. You only need to accomplish the tribal messiah’s role, following my footsteps, for national restoration to be achieved. I returned from the wilderness to this point (indicating the board) and restored these eight stages. You must repair and rebuild the stages of the ladder of restoration with the ideology of founding nation, the Unification spirit.
The problem is we do not have the nation. We need to restore the nation before we can restore the world. This is the transitional time from the national level to the worldwide level. Do you understand? I had no choice but to go down to the lowest point once Christianity failed. The first time I came to America I began at the national level, dealing with the President and Secretary of State; but somehow they failed. This has to be reversed. When the Catholic Christians in South America be-come united, then the world can be united.
Unless you follow my footsteps, there is no way to achieve these eight steps of the ladder. I am going to rebuild it; you simply have to support and help me. How can you sup-port and help me through your absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience? This democratic free world has declined due to individualism and privacy. The elder son’s position, True Parents’ position, and true kingship were all lost at the time of Adam. Now the brothers must be unified, centering upon Mother and expand God’s realm. This is the purpose of history. No one else knew this secret. True Parents understand everything. Once true children hear these concepts, they can immediately understand them.
Once you understand clearly, you can take action. (Yes, Father.) Now the modem world understands theoretically, but when it understands clearly there will be no problem.
You understand clearly, so you can re-create this without any difficulty, can’t you? (Yes, Father.) Really? (Yes, Father.) I cannot believe you. (We can do it, Father.) Adam and Eve lost absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience because they did not take it seriously. Now we have to offer our absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience. That is why this second forty-year period is needed. Reverend Kwak should now continue his explanation.
“New Hope Farm Declaration” (see below the speech)
[Reverend Kwak gave the following explanation:] The 36th True Parents’ Day was celebrated at the Brazilian headquarters church, which was dedicated by Father two years ago. The building itself is very big and beautifully restored. After the celebration of True Parents’ Day, True Parents moved to New Hope Farm with the international leaders. There Father pro-claimed the “New Hope Farm Declaration,” which I will now read to you. [Reverend Kwak then read the “New Hope Farm Declaration” in Korean, the translation of which is contained herein.]
The second forty-year course
[Reverend Kwak then gave internal guidance, focusing on the responsibility of blessed couples at the beginning of the new forty-year course.] I would like to emphasize the Family Pledge, because my thinking and practice are always based upon the Family Pledge. Now I would like to share some additional significance of these two important proclamations. First, our worldwide membership, including the leaders, is in some cases a little confused. Now that the Completed Testament era has begun, what are the dispensational progress and direction? Some ask about the future of the Unification com-munity. However, the “Sao Paulo Declaration” makes our future direction and purpose very clear.
On March 31, 1995, the second forty-year course began. If we understand well and digest the significance of the second forty-year course, our responsibility and goal be-come very clear. We are one stage behind True Parents. We should follow True Parents’ tradition and lay conditions to inherit it. From now on, all Unificationists need to be educated in the main content of Father’s forty-year course and follow it. I have almost finished preparing one book of Father’s New Year speeches from the past forty years. Since 1960, Father has been educating us through the mottoes given each God’s Day. After Father directed me to collect the past mottoes, I was so amazed at their con-tent. What Father has been teaching us year after year is not simply yearly mottoes. Rather, all of these mottoes are linked to the mainstream of the dispensation. These mot-toes and New Year speeches systematically detail Father’s work. We intend to make a book containing the translations of the main points of these speeches. Centering upon this book, we should educate our followers; because with-out fully digesting and understanding Father’s forty-year course, we cannot begin our second forty-year course. From now on, we have to educate members about this content.
The subject of the second forty-year course is ourselves. This is the era of the second generation. The basic unit is no longer the individual, but rather the blessed family.
The second forty-year course has to be viewed from the perspective of the family unit, with the second generation being the subject figures. Most important, this is the era of our portion of responsibility, not the responsibility of Heavenly Father or True Parents. Already we are standing upon Father’s worldwide foundation of victory. Because of this foundation, we no longer meet persecution and hostility. We have already received amazing benefit and grace. Now our goal is to restore our own nation. Before the nation is restored, tribal messiahs who have fulfilled their responsibilities are the subjects. After fulfilling their responsibility, tribal messiahs can join to restore their nation. This is why Father emphasized tribal messiahship for so many years. All blessed couples need to take the Family Pledge as our living standard. After fulfilling tribal messiahship, we will then work together to restore the country.
During this course, we should educate our followers. Many members feel that, because this is the Completed Testament era, we should not expect to receive any more persecution or negativity. However, members need to be educated using the analogy of the borderline between one day and the next-the midnight hour. Once midnight is reached the new day begins, but darkness still continues. In 1993, the Completed Testament era began, but this is equivalent to the midnight hour in God’s entire history. Dawn definitely will break and a new sun will rise, but still darkness prevails for a time. Fundamentally, it is now impossible for Satan himself to directly attack True Parents, but still Satan’s regime surrounds us and attacks many areas. This world is still under Satan’s regime, but the important thing to remember is that already midnight has passed and dawn is now coming. Furthermore, Satan’s power to attack True Parents and the Unification community is fundamentally lost. If we follow Father’s direction with absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience, we will be able to shorten the time of the coming of the dawn. Father has already told us that if one national leader were to become Father’s son or daughter fully, the nation could be restored in four months. The “Sao Paulo Declaration” states the direction in which the Unification community is going, and we should follow the guidelines of this declaration.
The second proclamation was the “New Hope Farm Declaration.” National leaders stayed for six days at the New Hope Farm with True Parents. Beginning at 5:00 a.m., we listened to Father’s guidance, and after breakfast we would go out fishing or farming until dark and then return. After dinner, Father would teach us until midnight. This is how Father and Mother spend their time at the New Hope Farm.
Please think about Father and Mother’s ages. Already in this country Father has obtained an amazing victorious condition. Representatives of the Abel foundation of this country follow and support Father, and Cain-type figures also closely understand and support Father. The Washington Times foundation has become amazingly important within this country. Externally Father has already won such a wonderful victorious foundation. Upon this kind of external victorious foundation, it would be normal to imagine that Father and Mother would remain here. After all, Father has many plans and has developed his work in a range of 360 degrees, centered upon this country. Here is a convenient environment, but Father chooses a course that is 180 degrees opposite to commonsense and heads for the pioneering path in South America. In South America, the surrounding foundation is almost zero compared with this country, but Father initiated the farm project there and chose the difficult life on the front line. Many things are inconvenient and uncomfortable in that farm area.
At the New Hope Farm, Father talked about the pollution of the global environment. This is a most serious problem. Many world leaders are focusing on how to solve this problem. International organizations need to cooperate with one another to protect the environment. A very important part of the New Hope Farm project is how to protect the natural environment, based on Father’s philosophy. Thus farm activities will be linked to environmental concerns. If people can understand the activities in which Father is engaging at the farm, they should be able to connect with Father’s thought.
Another goal for New Hope Farm is to create a model town, society and nation. This will be done through building an ideal community of love. Father will invite 160 nations to participate in this project beyond nationality, culture and race. Centering on Father’s ideas, they will serve and love one another for the sake of the world. These bonds of love and service are the most important internal connections for building the ideal world.
Our goal is to create an ideal society by externally protecting the environment and internally protecting people, beyond nationality, culture and race. Only True Parents can conduct such a thing. This is not simply an idea; it is a reality. It has already begun. We need to educate world leaders as to Father’s goals and ideals. They should be aware of what Father is now doing. Father’s main concern has been to build the mainstream route to the worldwide and cosmic levels, and he has completed that victorious condition. Now he is setting a practical example. This is how Unification Church members around the world should understand the New Hope Farm ideal. Five participants will go from each nation, but members throughout the world should go there for training, return to their own country, and build the ideal world centering upon their own country. The New Hope Farm is a historical beginning. Centering upon this model, Father will build the heavenly kingdom on the earth.
Last, I want you to know that I observed Father’s lifestyle on that farm. You should realize Father’s present age. From now on, Unification members and leaders around the world have to follow Father’s lifestyle. Always imagine the heart of True Parents standing on the far front-line. From now on, we have no excuse. We all need a re-education in heart. The world-wide membership needs to focus on Father’s South American project. Wherever Father and Mother are staying becomes our own base of heart, and we need to become one with Father’s tradition and lifestyle. We should also dedicate ourselves 100 percent to follow True Parents’ lifestyle. You will do this, won’t you? (Yes.)
Educate your members and distribute these proclamations. We should know what True Parents are thinking about and how the central dispensation is progressing. Please be sure to distribute this content to the entire membership and educate them. Thank you very much. (Applause.)
“Declaration of the Blessed Family” (See below this speech)
[After conversing with Father in Korean, Reverend Kwak spoke about the Family Declaration, which is contained herein:] I missed one declaration: the Declaration of the Blessed Family. Father explained to the international leaders the significance of the upcoming 360,000 Couples’ Blessing. The number 36 represents the entire history of humankind and all of existence. The first 36 blessed couples included three groups of twelve couples each. One group represented history, one group represented the present, and one group represented the future. We refer to the first group as “Adam’s family couples,” the second group as “Noah’s family couples,” and the third group as “Jacob’s family couples.” God’s dispensational progress, centered upon Adam’s family, resulted in failure. Within Noah’s family, there was a condition of sacrifice because of Noah’s amazing foundation of faith, but due to Ham’s mistake the out-come was failure. Centering upon Jacob’s family, God succeeded for the first time in history in building the foundation of faith and substance. Adam’s family represents past failure, Noah’s family represents the sacrificial present, and Jacob’s family represents the successful future. These three families relate to the whole of humankind. People who are elevated to the spiritual world without Heavenly Father and True Parents’ blessing fall into the category of failure, like Adam’s family. Because of immorality and Satan’s dominion, many people on earth are sacrificed, like Noah’s family. Future generations come under True Parents’ dominion and represent Jacob’s family.
The number 36 represents the entire history of humankind. For the upcoming blessing Father decided on 360,000 couples because in Father’s mind the number 36 represents all of history and the whole of humankind. Through this blessing, Father wants to embrace all people and offer the blessing under minimum conditions. As you know, the blessing is most precious. The condition to receive the blessing is most important, especially if you are aware of the conditions surrounding the early blessings. In the past, married couples were blessed after separation periods of more than seven years. Some couples were separated for more than fourteen years before receiving the blessing. These were very difficult conditions. However, True Parents wish to embrace, if possible, all humankind and restore all of history at one time. This kind of grace does not come about suddenly, but is due to True Parents’ amazing worldwide victorious condition. Therefore, Satan never argues directly with True Parents.
Based upon this victorious foundation, Father desires to give the blessing under minimum conditions. The minimum requirements are: (1) to recognize True Parents; (2) to recognize that all fallen people need to restore their blood lineage, ownership of all things, and heart; and (3) never to divorce or fall. Anyone who can understand and embrace these three conditions can become a candidate for the blessing. How easy this is, compared to very early times! Therefore, Father’s heart is waiting to embrace all people in one day. In Father’s mind 360,000 couples is certainly not enough. Why not 3.6 million couples or more? As Unification leaders, we have to understand Father’s heart and then do our best until the blessing. Father directed me to emphasize to the worldwide leaders the need to guide people to work hard and fulfill their responsibility.
Furthermore, Father taught us that each continent is responsible to bring a certain number of blessing candidates. All leaders around the world should clearly understand and educate members about this. We have to reach our goal. Since Father has proclaimed the 360,000 Couples’ Blessing to the worldwide leadership, as Unificationists we have to accomplish this blessing number.
Through the blessing, Father wants to share this grace with each religious community. According to Father’s direction, we approached each religious leader requesting that their members participate in True Parents’ blessing ceremony. This coming blessing is a very unique and historic event. There will be Catholics, Protestants, Jews and Muslims, as well as participants from many other various religious traditions. We are expecting thousands of couples from the Muslim tradition to participate in the blessing. This is not a simple event. Historically, Islam has had no experience of unity with other religious communities.
Furthermore, with the assistance of the spiritual world, our Unification community has been gaining many candidates in various nations. In one African country, for example; a letter describing the international blessing and the World Culture and Sports Festival was printed on beautiful stationery and delivered to top national leaders, including the president. In one spiritual group with over two million followers, a revelation was received from God, “After three days a young messenger will come to you. That message is My message and you should follow it.” Our young member arrived with the invitation, and a lecturer has been sent to educate this religious group. The time is ripe. Father has not given us an impossible task.
Father has said that the second forty-year course is the responsibility of blessed couples. All blessed couples need to examine themselves in relation to the standard of absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience, as well as the standard of mind-body unity. We are starting a new age on the family level, and as blessed couples we should all make a new start.
Finally, at the New Hope Farm, Father emphasized again the importance of learning Korean, because True Parents’ language and culture relate to the horizontal building of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Father’s vision for South America
[Father resumed speaking about South America. The following is a summary of Father’s points:] Large quantities of trees can be planted to improve the environment and provide a source of wood pulp. We can inspire groups of ranchers to work together to share technology; and information to promote development. Electrical power is abundant and the soil is fertile. Fruit trees, vegetables and rice can be grown, and conditions are favorable for raising cattle and catching fish; thus people can be easily self-sufficient. Africans will be invited to the New Hope Farm where they can learn new farming techniques which they can apply to Africa.
Because of the extreme heat, people do not work in the middle of the day, but rather in the evening when it is cool. If people in South America work hard, they can overtake North America in a short time.
On this last trip, we took along ten tents with mosquito netting, costing about $600 each. Air circulates through the screens, and if the tents are erected under large trees, the shade is pleasant. If every-one lives in tents, time, land and resources can be invested in cultivating the land rather than building houses. Thus, food and accommodations should be no problem.
Trade barriers are being removed between Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Although political instability may be a concern, South American leaders respect Father for devoting himself for more than twenty years to the United States, which has been like an enemy nation to him. Fifteen years ago the CAUSA movement was launched in South America, laying the foundation to work with political leaders and building an economic base, especially in Uruguay. Now national presidents are asking to meet with Father. They will be invited to the New Hope Farm, to get a taste of the excitement of hunting, fishing and farm work.
We will establish a university in South America, connected to the University of Bridgeport in America and Sun Moon University in Korea. Protestant educators in the United States will be invited to join in this endeavor. In terms of location, we are looking for a strategic setting surrounded by rivers, mountains and plains, a place with fertile soil and sufficient rainfall. The university will offer students four areas of specialty: agriculture, forestry, marine biology and technology. Students from 160 nations can attend the university and staff the cultural exhibition center that will become a major tourist attraction. During a week-long visit, tourists will be able to taste and experience in one setting the cultures of all 160 nations of the world. Performing arts teams will help build up this cultural center.
There is a wide gap between the wealthy and the poor people in much of South America. New Hope Farm is located 32 kilometers from the highway; we had the road paved to improve access to the area. The children of ranch workers typically have little opportunity for education. We want to build elementary and secondary schools on the ranch.
One person can grow food enough to feed four people, and light industries can be developed to produce daily necessities. The money to run the schools and factories could come from raising fast-growing trees and selling them for wood pulp. Surplus food and material from the ranch can be distributed to poor people in big cities such as Sao Paulo. Once word spreads of the ideal community being created under Father’s direction, parents will want to send their children to join in the project.
To help close the gap between the richest and the poorest nations, we can encourage the more-developed countries of Asia to help the world’s less-developed countries with low-interest loans and skilled workers.
Doesn’t thinking about all this make you feel good? Suppose you devote yourself to this great cause and save millions of lives, when you go to the spiritual world all those who are indebted to you will treat you as kings and queens.
In the past, there has been fighting between Protestants and Catholics. However, if they unite under me the1J will rise up and save the world. For this great cause in God’s providence, we will march to South America bringing the entire people of North America along with us.
Are you going to do this or not? (Yes.) Do you want to go there alone? (No.) If you as a tribal messiah bring 160 families along with you, then North and South America will be united instantly. Those who are determined enough to tighten your belts and march behind me, raise your hands.
Father’s directions to the leaders
[Father read the following instructions to leaders, observing that the conference was being held on April 17, which is Easter according to the Unification Church, and, therefore, the Day of Resurrection:]
1. God’s ideal of creation and the “Safe Settlement of True Parents and the Completed Testament Age.”
This means the completion of God’s ideal of creation from the family level all the way to the cosmic level. Do you understand? Your family is your base for a safe settlement. God’s original ideal of creation began at the family level.
a) The original family lost the foundation of loving the creation, loving humankind and loving God. As Subject, God did everything. He loved the earth, all created things and humankind. But as God’s objects, people did not fulfill this love. That was the fall. As a family, we should love the earth, humankind and God.
Until this point in time, we did not have this kind of concept. With-out the earth and its soil, how can we produce all the things of creation? We have to love the earth and all things. This will be the foundation for loving people and learning to love God. To love the earth and all things, people and God, where do you think you will have to go? The New Hope Farm.
On the New Hope Farm, there are countless kinds of birds, insects and fish. In the early morning, just before dawn, if I sit quietly I can hear all kinds of birds singing. It is nature’s song to my ears. In the autumn, people sometimes refer to the orchestra of insects, but I heard the orchestra of birds in South America. I also found that various kinds of fish create their own orchestra. There is no fish that cannot sing, no matter how ugly it may look. (Laughter.) I wondered if the nature of the South American people reflects the creation there. The fish spend all their time resting in the shade and singing. (Laughter.) It is true.
However, we should not resemble the South Americans in their attitude toward life. As children of God, we have to be different. Even when we hear all kinds of singing from nature, instead of taking it for our own advantage we have to understand it as God’s song. All these insects, birds and even fish are singing to praise God. Only people took this wrongly and abused it. Instead of singing and living to praise God, people have been lying, cheating and stealing everything from Him. This has to stop.
We must unite the Protestant North America with the Catholic South America and prepare a foundation strong enough to praise God and liberate God.
b) Centering upon True Parents, we must unite Cain and Abel.
This is how we will establish the land where we can experience the “Safe Settlement of True Parents and the Completed Testament Age,” which is the ideal world.
c) We will expand education focusing upon four major fields: agriculture, forestry, oceanic studies and technology. By doing so, we can connect the “Safe Settlement of True Parents and the Completed Testament Age” to the worldwide level.
d) We must complete a new nation centered upon God.
2. The traditional spirit comes from the unity between God and humankind. We need to have:
- Absolute Faith
- Absolute Love
- Absolute Obedient
Through absolute love, subject and object become one, from the individual level to the cosmic level, and continue on for eternity. From the moment of your birth until you join the spiritual world, all of you have to follow this formula. When you do so, God’s joy and happiness will dwell within you from birth to death and on into eternity.
3. Centering upon goodness, eliminate evil and receive the time of liberation.
By “goodness” I mean absolute goodness, eliminating Satan and meeting the age of liberation.
a) Transformation of the lineage.
Without transferring our lineage, there is no way to eliminate Satan from ourselves. We need to be transformed from the false lineage to the true lineage, centering upon True Parents. The fall occurred because of false parents, while restoration takes place through True Parents. Trans-formation of ownership needs to take place. Whatever we may possess right now does not belong to us; all our possessions are stolen. We have to offer all things back to the original owner. Adam and Eve stole these things before their marriage, so ideally we are supposed to return whatever we have back to God before our blessing. After World War II, if the Allied countries had united with me as the Lord of the Second Advent and begun to launch the Kingdom of God on earth, I could have changed the constitution of the world and returned all possessions back to God.
We must realize that we are eating stolen food and living on stolen goods. Even though you may not have stolen something yourself, if you know you are using stolen goods and you know the identity of the owner, you are responsible to return them.
b) Restoration of the realm of heart.
The individual is the formation stage, husband and wife are the growth stage, and the tribe is the perfection stage. In the realm of heart, these are all one category. Without a connection between these three stages, people have no place to go.
c) Registration in the fatherland.
This means registering in the Kingdom of God. You have to be registered as citizens of the Kingdom of God, because the restored heavenly nation does not yet exist. Unless your birth is recorded here in America, you cannot be issued an American passport. The same is true for registering in the Kingdom of God. Your mission as tribal messiah is to restore 360 families as your Cain and have them register as heavenly citizens. Once you do that, we can build the nation. The goal is to restore the nation, the fatherland.
d) The Kingdom of God on earth and Kingdom of God in heaven.
When we build the nation based upon one single race, we will absorb all other races and build the fatherland on the worldwide level.
e) Unity between mind and body and the unification of religions.
Religion will no longer be needed only the true love of the True Parents. Religions were created to suppress bodily desires, so that the body could follow the mind. Your body is like a military base that has to be subjugated and made to obey the mind. Because of Satan’s influence, our bodily desires always try to subjugate the mind. People will enter the Kingdom of God, not through believing in and practicing certain religious doctrines, but through practicing true love. Those who say that one can enter the Kingdom of God through faith in Jesus Christ alone are mistaken. God’s love and lineage have to be restored. Unless we can unify religions, we cannot even think of building the Kingdom of God.
After tribal national conflicts are overcome, the final stage is over-coming religious and racial conflicts. Through love and peace, we must build unity between God and humankind. Once we are truly centered upon true love, we will no longer need national or racial boundaries. Only peace and love will remain. That is where we can find true freedom and happiness.
I want you to complete the age of God’s glory. Amen. (Amen.) We must succeed in the South American project. Do you understand clearly? (Yes.) I now feel that even if I go away from you, you should be able to accomplish this mission, since you understand it clearly. Do you think that I have to remain here in America with you or should I go to South America and supervise everything there? (Go to South America.) If I do not want to go there, you should chase me down to South America.
The only reason why I have remained here in America until now is because you have been too stubborn to give up your possessions, and North America is not yet ready to restore South America. However, once Unificationists in North America are fully equipped spiritually and physically to work with me, there is no need for me to remain in America. If you do that then North and South America will become one with no boundary. Do you understand? (Yes.)
You may feel a little bit skeptical about all I have explained, but just follow me and see what happens. Even more so, you have to push me to promote this project and stand on the front-line. Do you understand? (Yes.) If American people as Cain and Unificationists as Abel combine into one, everything will be completed from a conditional viewpoint. Stand up and shout out, “Let’s go to South America!” (Let’s go to South America!) Mansei! Mansei! Mansei! God bless you. (God bless you, Father.)

Declaration for the Blessed Family
True Parents announced the “Declaration for the Blessed Family” on April 7, 1995, at an early morning conference for worldwide leaders gathered at the New Hope Farm in Brazil. Connected to the “Sao Paulo Declaration” and the “New Hope Farm Declaration,” this is the third declaration. It explains the significance of the blessing and the mission and lifestyle of blessed families in this age when we are beginning the second forty-year course.
THE victory of the first forty-year course is the foundation for cosmic victory accomplished through God’s suffering over thousands of years, and True Parents’ sacrifice throughout their lives.
Until now, the family was not the traditional unit of salvation in Christianity. The realm of the family has not been the direct object of the history of salvation in other religions. God’s providence of salvation is to restore, through the Messiah, God’s ideal of creation-that is, the ideal of the Heavenly Kingdom through the True Family-by restoring the realms of elder sonship, parentship and kingship from Satan. The Completed Testament Age is the age of the perfection of the family ideal centered on True Parents, and especially with the beginning of the second forty-year course, the age of the portion of responsibility of the family unit centering on the second generation is opening.
The meaning of the blessing, granted by God, has been taught extensively in Father’s words until now. The ideal of the blessing is the most precious ideal of humankind. The family that has driven out Satan is the blessed family. To inherit God’s true love, true life and true blood lineage are the blessing. Blessed fami-lies must go the way of achieving the restoration of the blood lineage, the restoration of ownership, and the restoration of the realm of heart. The liberation of all people is only possible through the blessing, and the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth can also be realized only through the blessing. For both individuals and nations, the blessing is once and for all.
With the beginning of the second forty-year course, blessed families worldwide should first settle their personal accounts; that is, they should seriously examine themselves as to whether they are going the way of tradition with a united mind and body. They should bury their old habitual lifestyles, and live with a unified mind and body centered on God.
Second, they should make a new beginning as a family. Receiving the blessing is not merely for the sake of the family, but for the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven. The mission of the blessed family is to live for the sake of the providential unified fatherland centered on God, and to form the family foundation leading to one world. The worldwide blessed families must absolutely learn the language and tradition of True Parents. Father, living on only two meals a day until he was thirty, devoted himself through this sacrificial lifestyle for the sake of humankind. Blessed families should follow the tradition that has been established: the way of absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience in front of Heaven.
True Parents are completely bequeathing everything from themselves, their absolute authority and power, to the blessed families. True Parents have given us a hammer made of diamond, stronger than a rod of iron, with which to confront the world dominated by Satan. With conviction, take control of the satanic world!
Satan is destroying the families of the world. He is using strategies such as homosexuality, free sex and the destruction of morality to ruin lives. Only True Parents’ ideal of the blessing can defeat the strategies of Satan and establish the original ideal of God’s creation.
This year’s 360,000 Couples’ Blessing has great significance. The number 36 represents the whole of history and humankind. With the heart to embrace and give life to all humankind, God and True Parents have planned to bless 360,000 couples. If this blessing is successful, Satan’s foundation on earth will be greatly weakened. Please inform the highest leaders of the world, university presidents and academic leaders about the ideal of the blessing and try to enlist their cooperation.
Each leader within our church organizations and each blessed family will be called to account for how much they have fulfilled their responsibility toward the preparation for the 360,000 Couples’ Blessing. In the same way the Israelites were notified about the Exodus; blessed families everywhere must declare the ideal of the blessing so that all people can be awakened, receive the blessing and march toward the Kingdom of Heaven.
New Hope Farm Declaration
True Parents announced the “New Hope Farm Declaration” at 5:00 a.m. on April 3, 1995, in front of representative leaders of 160 nations gathered at the New Hope Farm in Brazil. This is one of the specific projects geared to the practical application of the Sao Paulo Declaration. It details the establishment of a model for an ideal society and ideal nation. Following is the essential content of what was proclaimed.
TODAY’S world is confronting a human crisis of sexual immorality, the breakdown of families, and surging individualism. In addition, environmental pollution threatens the very exis All humankind needs, now more than at any time before, is a movement of people living together in cooperation and true love, and a movement to protect the environment; that is, to love and preserve nature. Most importantly, this movement should be led by religious people.
From the early days, True Parents have taught us that “Unless a person loves nature, which was created for humankind, he cannot say that he loves human-kind. Unless he loves all people, who are created to be true children of God, he cannot say that he loves God.” It is natural that whoever loves God must love human beings, who were created to be God’s children. Furthermore, how can a person say that he loves humankind and God unless he loves nature, which was created for humankind?
In an ideal society or nation, the people transcending national and racial barriers will cooperate with each other to live in happiness and harmony. They will be conscious of being God’s sons and daughters and one extended family, which can meet as brothers and sisters, centered on True Parents. This is the place where all blessed families who have restored their blood lineage, ownership and their hearts under True Parents’ language and culture will accomplish a world of freedom, peace and unity. All people will co-exist in co-prosperity and for a common cause in this culture of God’s heart. Therefore, this world will have nothing to do with corruption or injustice, or with war or crime. Humankind will eliminate the causes of pollution in the global environment, and love and protect nature as a true owner.
In this model ideal world, all of life’s activities and labors will be expressed in the practice of joyful service for the sake of others, based on a heart of love. Therefore, there will be equality in standards of living. All the modem facilities of civilization will be utilized for education. On the foundation of blessed families, education of heart and heavenly norm will take priority over education in academic subjects, physical education and technological education. Accordingly, this will be education for the purpose of raising people of goodness who will follow the heavenly way.
The realization of ideals in this way is impossible without True Parents’ thought-namely, the ideology of true love for the sake of others. Adam lost faith through the fall. All people are destined to pass through the way of restoration for which they need absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience. God’s providence has been working through religion to accomplish this. The absolute faith of providential figures, such as Noah, is therefore precious.
True Parents became the embodiment of absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience, gaining victory in the severe battles they faced, not only on earth, but also in the spirit world. True Parents are bequeathing their victorious foundation to us. We must imitate this tradition of True Parents in practice and resemble True Parents in the way they love God, humankind and all things, so that we can establish the model of an ideal nation.
The New Hope Farm is the training camp for practicing these things precisely. It is where we invest and invest our love again, loving the earth, the water and nature. Many people of the world will come together here as brothers and sisters and practice building God’s nation. By showing all people what we accomplish here, we can educate them as to how to establish a community of love transcending race, culture and national barriers. We can also show the standard of how to love and care for the creation. At the same time, under this ideology, we can awaken everyone to the fact that the global environment needs to be controlled internationally. Here on this farm we can show how to rid the world of war, hunger and crime, and how to live in happiness and peace.
The 160 mission countries of the world will support this project with materials and manpower, and with prayer. Young people from around the world will receive training and gain practical experience here. They then will return to their home countries and become the front-line leaders in building ideal nations. At first, this project will be supported on the continental level. As a first step, five people from each of the forty nations
[in which Mother spoke in 1993] will be sent. From May 1 of this year, the first two people from each nation will go to participate in this historic movement.
The Sao Paulo Declaration
Through sacrifice and true love following the way of restoration through indemnity, True Parents have brought victory step by step from the individual level to the cosmic level (horizontally) and from the servant of servants’ level to the level of God (vertically). On the 36th True Parents’ Day, Father made the “Sao Paulo Declaration” that proclaimed the beginning of the second forty-year course. It is a period in which all worldwide Unification Church members must inherit True Parents’ foundation of victory and fulfill their portion of responsibility. Centering on True Parents’ words over the past forty years, especially those given at the New Year, Father emphasized that the second forty-year course is the period during which we must follow one step behind True Parents and accomplish what they have accomplished, and that during this period we have to establish True Parents’ tradition as an absolute one. Father spoke as follows:
ON THE WAY of God’s will there can be no “self.” We must reach the level of “zero” existence. There must be no arrogance or individualism. True Parents’ life of tradition has been one of loving the earth, loving all things, loving all humankind and loving God, singlemindedly for the realization of God’s will. This has been the path of pouring out true love. We must inherit this life of tradition from True Parents. To do this, we should love the earth, the creation, humankind and God, and accomplish the mission of the tribal messiah.
The official second forty-year course begins March 31, 1995, on this 36th True Parents’ Day. This is the period of our portion of responsibility which should be fulfilled on the level of blessed families, centering on the second generation blessed families. Being families who have inherited the victorious vertical and horizontal foundations of True Parents, our responsibility does not immediately extend to the restoration of the cosmos. Blessed families who have fulfilled the mission of the tribal messiah must first join as one for the restoration of a nation. It may not necessarily take forty years to fulfill this. It could be accomplished within seven, or even four years, according to how well we fulfill our faith and portion of responsibility.
At this point in time, True Parents are initiating the establishment of a model town and nation in South America. This has very great providential significance. The providence in South America is thus bringing and extending the victory and blessing of the Abel sphere, which was established by God, into the Cain sphere. Through this providence, the foundation of North America (Protestantism) in the position of Abel, is shifting and being joined to the foundation in South America (Catholicism). Next, the victory of this united Abel sphere must be connected to the Jewish sphere and they must become one. The victory of this united and expanded sphere of Abel must then be connected to the sphere of Islam and thus further expanded in unity. Finally, the victory and blessing of this greatly expanded Abel sphere must be connected to the spheres of other religions. This is the future direction of the providence.
Centering on North America, the worldwide Unification Church should make special effort to support South America. Just as we inherit the realm of victory from True Parents, we have to expand it and invest our utmost effort so that the Cain sphere can receive God’s blessing.
