Theory of Heavenly Unified Korea

Hello everyone. This is now the 17th time the Peace Forum is being conducted. Today is a very special and meaningful day with our elders. I’m Jin Sung Bae, president of the Peace Foundation. Continuing from last time, I will talk about the meaning of the presidential election and Heavenly Unified Korea. At the last 16th Forum, we discussed how to interpret and understand the presidential election from the standpoint of Heavenly Unified Korea. I will now use this time to sort out the problem as a whole.

It’s an unfamiliar painting at first, but 2,500 years ago in Greece, where mankind’s first university was built, the philosopher Plato came up with the “Allegory of the Cave,” which has been a recurrent theme throughout history. Whitehead said, “All ideas and philosophy are just footnotes to Plato’s philosophy.” Plato’s philosophy embraced and organized all of the ideas, ideologies, and philosophies to Whitehead’s day. In fact this was no exaggeration. All the stories of Kant, Hegel, and Marx are subsumed in the Allegory of the Cave. To briefly recount Plato’s figurative allegory, it is a story in which a prisoner watches shadows on the wall of the cave and misunderstands them as the real world. Then he escapes from the cave, and realizes that actually, “Everything I saw was a  world of delusion.” His discovery is similar to Buddhism, which says the world of mind is the real world while the physical world is a world of pain, delusion, and dreams. This is similar to what philosophy teaches. So the phenomenal world is the world of shadow—if you escape from the cave, you will discover the real world, the World of Idea. And when you get out, you will see the sun. The sun stands for God. It’s God.

Plato was the first philosopher to speak of God. The first person to use the word “theology” was not a theologian, but a philosopher, Plato. Plato talked about the idea of God, the idea of the good, through his Allegory of the Cave. Focusing on absolute standards, he said the world of all beings has a world of spirit and mind called Idea, and a phenomenal material world. So, the cave in this story represents the prison of the body. It speaks of humans in the world of delusion, the prison of the body, discovering the real world of the mind, the idea world. And discovering what we call God, God is the ultimate foundation of existence of all beings.

The process of escaping the cave is the process of induction. The process of returning to the cave to save the rest of the prisoners is called the deductive process in academics. So academic induction and deduction represent the upward and downward paths to the truth. Plato studied all the disciplines at the first university of mankind. All the foundations of modern learning were covered at that time in Plato’s Academy. The first universities flourished, delving into law, politics, art, literature, science, medicine, geology, and astronomy.

I changed the chart a little bit. The black color is the world of physical prisons. It’s an extinct world, a world of matter, a phenomenal world, a world of death. The other is the yellow, the world of Idea, the world of the gods. The Plato philosopher summed up the Greek mythology of the time in one word, the life of all life, through the Allegory of the Cave. What Greek mythology says is that reaching the world of the gods and settling in the world of the gods is the ultimate purpose and longing of man. The greatest desire of man is not material, property, power, honor, and such worldly desires, but the fundamental desire is for man to find peace of mind and order in the Idea world and become one with God. Entering the world of God’s Idea is what Greek mythology is calling on us to strive for. To summarize the myth, we’re talking about the world of Idea, where the immortal gods live, and the world of the bodily prison is bound to perish.

Therefore, I think Plato organized the truth of life and everything in his Allegory of the Cave. The black is the world of matter, the world of phenomena; yellow is the world of eternal life, the world of the gods. Man’s greatest desire is to return to the world of the gods and become like them. If you look at the Bible, Adam and Eve fell. Satan, the serpent, appeared and told Eve to eat the fruit of good and evil because her eyes would become bright like God. So, the snake seduced Eve by telling such a lie with the desire to brighten her eyes like God, convincing her to eat the fruit of good and evil. The Bible also employs mythical and symbolic expression, but I we still conclude that the fundamental desire of humans is to become bright like God, to become like God.

What is the ultimate goal of your striving? It is to be eternal, right? To attain the eternal world like God, to gain eternal life. As was the case with Emperor Zhu Xi, there would be no fundamental human desire like that. Therefore, if you look at Korea as North Korea’s socialism and South Korea’s capitalism, capitalism in the south is a market economy based on individual, selfish partisanship. The world that pursues the material of capital is capitalism of South Korea. What is socialism in North Korea? North Korea’s socialism is class partisanship, revolving around labor and material, so it’s materialist totalitarianism. Capital in the South and the North’s labor and class are both based on material values. Thus capitalism and socialism pursued by the two Koreas are value systems that pursue capital and labor, which are material values in the overall perspective. It’s about pursuing a world of extinction. The world that can live forever is the world of Idea. The world of gods.

Here’s a piece of paper. Think of a number: one, two, three, or four. There’s no such thing as “one.” There’s two, three, four people. But there’s no such thing as one. Isn’t this a piece of paper? I’m going to split it. This is probably one, right? If you break it up, it’s one, right? If you break it up, this is one and this is one. Where is one? There is no “one” in the phenomenal world. “One” exists only in the world of the mind. It’s in the world of Idea. A man named Newton struggled to discover the law of gravitation. He wrestled with the problem. When he got hit by the falling apple, he said, “Oh, there’s the law of gravitation!” He realized this. He discovered the mathematical law of universal gravitation and became a great scientist. He completed Newton’s world of physics. So where is the law of gravitation? In the phenomenal world, there are only fallen apples. There’s only a slight difference in tides. There are only solar and lunar eclipses. All these phenomena can be explained by a principle called “the law of universal gravitation.”

Where is the law of universal gravitation? Where is the number one? Where is the essence of human beings? We say, “He’s like a person; he’s not like a person.” There are a lot of people, but there’s only one essence that’s human-like, right? Regardless of the time, there is only one thing that is human nature. Each of us is called a “person.” All people are called “humanity.” Right? Where is human-like? It’s in the world of the mind, in the world of Idea. It’s in the world of the gods. The number one, Newton’s laws of physics, the law of universal gravitation—are all in the world of the gods, in the world of Idea. Humanity is also under the sway of Idea. That world is the world of the gods, which is the world itself, the original world, the one world, the true world. There are many phenomenal pine trees, but they are in the heart of the world. Right? There are insect-eaten pine trees, deciduous pine trees, and many other pine trees in the backyard, but all these pine trees have only one pine tree essence. This is the world of the gods, the world of Idea. This is what we mean by “영계”—the  spiritual world.

The owner of the spiritual world is God. Then how can you attain the eternal world and be like God? Plato taught that we reach the world of Idea through reason and awakening like in Buddhism. However, that is not the case from the standpoint of Heavenly Unified Korea theory and Godism. To finally enter the realm and nature of God, one can live forever only through family. It is conscience and order centered on the family. This is the order of life we live today; this is co-righteousness. Right?

Meanwhile secular biologist Richard Dawkins says that we reproduce children from generation to generation; I am just a machine to leave my DNA. My DNA lasts forever, but I die when I reach 70, 80, 90. Isn’t that so? DNA is the essence of my personality, my identity, and it lasts forever, but my body dies when I’m 70, 80, maximum 100 years old. How do you leave your DNA? You have to make a family. We can all agree about that, right? So family is the very secret. The heart of the family, the nature of the heart, and the heart of God are eternal life, so they reach to the essence of God, being with God, and being God. Is that right or is that wrong? There’s no reaction… It’s probably right. Enough of that.

Let’s think about the last presidential election. Somehow the presidential election was won by 0.73 percent with a slim majority less than 230,000 votes. So 0.73 percent can determine win or lose, right? I can’t say that one party won or lost. This election is in a way an ideological confrontation between the left and right, an ideological conflict and war. After the 8.15  liberation in 1945, there were ideological conflicts and war between the left-wing parties of Park Heon-young and Yeo Un-hyung, and Syngman Rhee on the right. These South-South conflicts reappeared in this presidential election. There’s no denying it.

Going a little further, more severe is the South-South conflict between the right and the left. The right-wing advocates pro-American policy and market economy. The left emphasizes anti-U.S. anti-Japanese, income-led growth, universal welfare. The right is selfish partisanship. The left is class partisanship. The right has come to power through election strategies at the risk of life and death, involving selfish partisanship and excessive moral hatred. They just happened to win this presidential election. The left mobilizes class hatred and resentment toward the haves, and pushes for left-wing revolution. “Revolutionary” is their rallying cry. Humanitarian ethics, denial of human rights, hypocrisy—these are secondary issues. In left-wing ideology, all human morality can be ignored when promoting revolution.

There was a very unethical candidate who was a hypocrite, right? But rather than that, leftists think, “Ah, someone who can install a left-wing platform has emerged as a candidate.” The left is all about class liquidation. Currently, two presidents and four NIS chiefs are in prison, and only one, former President Park Geun Hye, was released from prison. The fact that four NIS chiefs went in means that there is a right-wing ideology of liberal democracy. In this respect, the current presidential election was very dangerous, and the outcome was breathtaking. This was an ideological confrontation between the left and right. It is an ideological conflict and ideological struggle between the selfish partisanship of capitalism and the class partisanship of socialism. You can’t deny it.

This is explained in principle by Shimjeong (heart), Sung-sang (internal nature) and Hyung-sang (external form). The internal nature represents a free democracy and human rights. It’s the world of the mind. External form is material value. The concept of the liberal left centered on labor and material values is external form. So conservatives stand for the internal nature; the liberal left upholds the concept of external form. But neither the selfish partisanship of the right nor the class partisanship of the left, Sung-sang or Hyung-sang alone, is the solution. Both essentially pursue matter and wish to maintain the status quo. They pursue something that’s bound to perish. Capitalism’s capital is material, socialism’s labor is material. All systems that pursue capital or labor are bound to emphasize perishable, physical, material values. It’s the world of shadows in Plato’s parable of the cave. It’s a world of widowhood. Even in Buddhism, this is the world of the widow, the world of the shadow, and a dream world. The world of truth is the world of Shimjeong. Our mind ought to balance Sung-sang and Hyung-sang alone, internal nature and external form.

The mind can manage both the whole and the individual. Capitalism emphasizes individual human rights, while totalitarianism seeks to implement a socialist state system. So Shimjeong understands both the human rights of the individual and the purpose of the whole country. Shimjeong can empathize with the whole and with the individual. It integrates the whole as subject and the individual as object. The essence of Shimjeong is the parental heart. Political parties become brothers based on their parents’ Shimjeong. The individual and the whole are like brothers. Conservative and progressive parties, liberal democracy and socialism are brothers centered on common parents. You have to relate to what you’re faced with. You should have compassion. We must share with one another. Brothers should not fight desperately, but unite their power. We need to coexist. In the future, the kind of politics of the left that we saw under the Moon Jae-in regime, with class partisanship, class redemption, revolutionary hatred and hypocrisy must not be redeveloped.

The right wing basically upholds humanism. They practice empathy. Freedom, equality and philanthropy are natural duties and rights. With these innate, natural values at the center, empathy and compassion prevail, and only legal action.

There’s a lot of anger around. There is moral anger and moral hatred. The Candlelight Revolution that stabbed President Park Geun-hye was held at Gwanghwamun. It was the same place where the funeral of General Baek Sun-yeop, who represents Korea, and the funeral of Mayor Park Won-soon were held at the same time. As figures of the right and the left, they were ideologically opposed. The Gwanghwamun Candle Revolution took place at Gwanghwamun Square. There is no way to resolve this confrontation between the left and right, the conflict between individuals and the whole, without focusing on Shimjeong. The national conflict involving  hatred of a certain class or people cannot be resolved except by Shimjeong. It is necessary to focus on parental Shimjeong, and to sympathize with each other, as a party of brothers. Then moral anger and hatred should be sublimated into legal action. This is what the Yoon Seok-yeol administration should do in the future. We must accept Godism and co-prosperity. This is a good future orientir for the current administration.

As I mentioned, the conflict between the South and North is essentially a battle in a phenomenal world over material values. After all, only God and co-prosperity can live forever: it is an eternal ideology and political philosophy. It presents a vision for our nation where Godism and Shimjeong become the focus of right and left, individuals and the whole, capitalism and socialism, and the different parties. We must share power and unite with each other. What kind of vision is there in Korea? Democracy? Does the right wing have a vision for Korea’s destiny? No! Is the future of Korea guaranteed under left-wing ideology and pro-North Korean ideology? No, it’s not!

Rev. Moon met with chairman Kim Il-sung and exhorted him to abandon Juche ideology and accept Godism. He put his life on the line. When Kim Il-sung later shared his story, he said only two people ever told him about God. Pastor Moon Ik-hwan and another priest visited the North, but both of them praised Juche thought. Only two people spoke of God. One was Pastor Billie Graham, the other was Rev. Moon Sun Myung. There are many pastors and priests in Korea but these people go and praise Juche ideology. They don’t praise God. Only Rev. Moon, in front of Chairman Kim Il-sung, said, “Give up the Juche ideology.”

I went to Seoul Physics University. They were demonstrating every day Jongno 4-ga and 5-ga without studying at Seoul Physics University. They chopped the asphalt and threw chunks of it. We were pushing a revolutionary movement equivalent to the workers’ revolution. I didn’t think the socialist revolution would happen with that, so I decided to put that behind me. I studied law, became a teacher, became a worker, and became a civil servant. Over the course of 20 years, 600 organizations have appeared, recruiting 13,000 people. At one order, 600 organizations launched the row over mad cow disease, and they started the candlelight revolution, and they became a formidable power. The power of the left raises their position as they head downstream. With the ideological directive to recoup their position, Leftists and pro-North Korean ideologues took control of the legal profession, the legislature, the judiciary, the executive branch, the labor unions, academia, the media, everything. Rev. Moon urged us to abandon Juche ideology and be God-oriented, but our Republic of Korea rejected Godism. The Republic of Korea did not accept Rev. Moon and Dr. Han. And with the ideological struggle here, what power does the right wing wield? Is there any solidarity on the right?

In that sense only a political system of co-prosperity based on Shimjeong can last forever. Capitalism and socialism are ideologies that pursue matter and the status quo. These ideologies are doomed to extinction. Would you choose the path of death or eternal life? You have to choose the path of eternal life. Is it the people or a citizen? Elections are still the source of people’s power in liberal democracy. It is a system in which the people vote and the people become the subject. Originally, liberal democracy is a natural human right and freedom, but it has stooped to pursuing only capital and material values. Socialism on the other hand says that the source of power is violent revolution. As Lenin said, power is won at gunpoint. Violence basically underlies their political philosophy. Here the people and the public are the objects. One-party dictatorship dictated by Labor, where the leader of the Labor Party is the Parent-Leader. By the law of concentration of power, power does not accrue to the whole people. Communist and totalitarian societies lead to a one-man dictatorship by concentration of power. Stalin, Mao Zedong, and Kim Il-sung are all like that. It can’t be helped. It’s because power is based on violence.

The only thing that can fundamentally solve these problems is Heavenly Unified Korea, which focuses on Shimjeong. What is Shimjeong? It roughly translates as “Heart.” I’m talking about my parents’ Shimjeong; in religion, people say we receive grace. You are blessed through God’s grace. It is very special to receive God’s grace. When you are bound by your own circumstances and selfish thoughts, you do not receive God’s grace. It is generally necessary for one to have a family, to champion national patriotism, or to be loyal to God to receive God’s grace. If God is the whole nation, God is the whole of the whole. Therefore, to receive God’s grace, an individual must have a whole purpose, at least at a home, neighborhood, state, humanitarian concern, believe the Bible. As Chairman Yoon Young-ho said, we can even be the Bible. Grace comes when you sympathize with the situation of others.

Liberal democracy, where power comes from the people, is virtual power; it’s not real power. The source of power is God, God’s grace, and God’s charisma. God is the only center of power. The power of the people as the subject of democracy is hypothetical. It’s called “the power of the air” in the Bible. Furthermore, the one-man dictatorship that socialism and communism have is an “air power”: it’s hypothetical. It’s power that can be scattered overnight. The source of eternal power, eternal grace, and power is God, and God is the whole of the whole. When true power is achieved by God’s power, grace, and charisma, a Heavenly Unified Korea is formed. This is the new world of unification. This is the only way to live forever.

Liberal democracy based on the people is capitalism that pursues with the value of capital and material, and selfish partisanship. Not to mention communism and socialism, which are based on material and labor. What about materialism itself? Materialism overthrew the bourgeoisie through revolution in terms of class partisanship and lack of material values. Isn’t this the ideological argument of the pro-North faction that coopted Korean history, with the terrifying hatred and resentment involved in the class partisanship of creating a worker’s paradise?

You ought not to be so happy just because you won 0.73 percent. It’s the same as losing. What remains in front of us is what Rev. Moon told us to do. Abandon Juche ideology and engage in the struggle for the public, the people, and their ideas to accept Godism. Godism is the value view that only we give. They gave us the values of Godism, co-existence, co-prosperity, and co-righteousness, yet our world has become a pro-North Korean world. Other that that, there is only partisan logic that separates the ruling and opposition parties by selfish partisanship. The way to save the Republic of Korea, which is buried in these material values that are bound to die, is to enter and immerse ourselves in the ideology that centers on Godism. Without engaging in the ideological battle for ideology, it will be difficult to realize a Heavenly Unified Korea. What remains ahead of us now is struggle and fight. This is a theoretical fight, an ideological fight. As this unfolds on a national level, we are old, but why not? As long as our minds are young, as long as a youthful spirit remains, we can achieve a Heavenly Unified Korea and a new world through ideological debates, ideological struggles, and popular movements based on Godism and true love.

On the left, world representatives of communist socialism such as Hun Sen lined up, and on the right, staunch allies such as Pompeo and Pence, centering on Dr. Han, at the 2022 Peace Summit on the Korean Peninsula. It took the same form as the right- and left-hand thieves who were nailed up on the cross beside Jesus—lining up on both sides with our True Mother at the center. They represented all the world’s left-wing and right-wing, capitalism and socialism. Hun Sen represents socialism. This is the Korean Peninsula Peace Summit 2022. This is God’s miracle. Who touched Hun Sen’s heart? Who moved former Vice President Pence? Who moved Pompeo’s heart? Who moved their conscience? Is it General Director Yoon Young-ho? No, it’s God. God! God moved Pompeo, Gingrich, Pence, and Prime Minister Hun Sen. Hun Sen who was talking about socialism. When Hun Sen met President Moon Jae-in and spoke of his vision, even though he is the chairman of ASEAN, he said he would not go to the ASEAN meeting or the U.N. General Assembly in New York. This is a miracle. Who achieved it? God. God accomplished this miracle.

How did we win this South-South conflict, conservative vs. liberals? Why did we win by 0.73 percent? This is because Dr. Han is at the center, with the basic idea to abandon Juche ideology and accept Godism. This is because Rev. Han made this decision and decided on the most basic ideology. Of the 32 million votes, 0.73 per cent, 230,000 votes is but a drop in the bucket. The winner won by a hair’s breadth. It’s a miracle. God bless us, long live our country. The Korean Peninsula Summit also lined up with God’s miracles from side to side with Rev. Han at the center. This conservative and progressive election also happened due to God’s intense working, centering on Rev. Han. Fundamentally, we cannot deny that God blesses our country. That’s all I’m saying because I’m five minutes overtime. Thank you.
