On December 13, 2025, the International Association of Youth and Students for Peace (IAYSP) Zambia successfully conducted a community service project at the George Health Center in Lusaka. The initiative focused on community health, environmental hygiene, and youth leadership, reflecting IAYSP’s commitment to peace through practical service.
Collaborative Impact The project’s success was rooted in strong partnerships with Young Boys Awake (YBA), AIM Higher Youth Cooperative, and the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Zambia. Under the guidance of hospital management, these organizations mobilized participants and resources to ensure a high-impact intervention.
Program Execution
The day began with an orientation on teamwork and institutional respect. Following the briefing, participants engaged in:
- Environmental Hygiene: Cleaning and sanitizing hospital grounds and surrounding areas.
- Health Awareness: Informal interactions aimed at community health education.
- Youth Engagement: Promoting discipline and collective responsibility among volunteers.
Key Outcomes
The initiative resulted in immediate improvements to the facility’s cleanliness and fostered a spirit of unity among local youth. Hospital management commended the participants for their respectful conduct and efficiency. While the project was a success, it also highlighted a need for expanded resources and tools to increase the scope of future interventions.
Conclusion
This project reaffirms that young people are highly motivated to contribute to society when provided with structured opportunities. IAYSP Zambia plans to regularize these activities, with a focus on enhanced logistics and expanded health education components.
