The Contemporary Meaning of the Second Blessing “Be Fruitful”

Beloved brothers and sisters, peace be with you!

Over the past three weeks, we have deeply shared about the basic attitude and practices we must cultivate to achieve the First Blessing given by our Creator, Heavenly Parent—the individual perfection of character. It was a precious time for us to re-examine our stance for personal growth as people of faith.

Before we begin this week’s message, I wish to share some inspiring news from the global providence field.

Just recently, from the 10th to the 12th of this month, I attended the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

The government of Pakistan, which hosted the ISC, formally invited True Mother as a State Guest to this significant event. Although she was regrettably unable to attend personally, her stature and lifelong dedication to achieving world peace illuminated the entire conference, where Speakers of Parliament from many nations gathered to discuss global peace.

Furthermore, I had the blessed time of meeting with the family of the Pakistani National Leader, who are courageously carrying out their missionary work in the challenging environment of an Islamic nation, and I was deeply touched to hear the joyful news of their growth in the field.

Currently, I am visiting the church here in Nepal. It feels profoundly significant to take my first steps on this world tour in Nepal, a nation that embraces the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest.

I share this brief update with you before our sermon today because these experiences reaffirm the global scale of True Mother’s work and the urgent nature of our mission.

Starting this week, we will explore the earnest Will of our Creator, Heavenly Parent, expressed in the Second Blessing, “Be fruitful.” In particular, through these words, we will share together how this connects to the meaning of the command that True Mother emphasized must be achieved on earth: “We must bring one-third of all humanity to attend Heavenly Parent.”

The Contemporary Meaning of the Second Blessing “Be Fruitful”

The Second Blessing, “Be fruitful,” given by our Creator, Heavenly Parent, is God’s Word that is the cornerstone of our current efforts to expand the number of blessed families.

Six thousand years ago, the primary meaning of these words was “bear many sons and daughters, form families, and multiply your tribes.”

However, in the 21st century, in this historical era of the salvation of fallen humankind, the meaning of the words “Be fruitful” is expanded based on True Mother’s words that “One-third of all humanity must come to attend Heavenly Parent.”

This signifies the mission of witnessing—finding and nurturing spiritual children—and is a concrete and practical goal we must absolutely achieve today.

The Importance of a Concrete Goal

We must clearly understand that the “one-third of all humanity” that True Mother spoke of is not merely symbolic, or a condition, but an actual goal that Heaven requires of us. True Mother has presented us with a vision of concrete fruit that must be achieved.

If this is the case, what specific mission should this Second Blessing, “Be fruitful,” and True Mother’s earnest heart for one-third of humanity, represent for “me,” the individual standing here today? It is time for us to determine our concrete mission and resolution—one that bears fruit in our lives, rather than remaining an abstract slogan.

From the Past to the Future: The Importance of a Foundation and Determination

Then let us think realistically now. How can we guide this enormous “one-third of all humanity” into the embrace of Heavenly Parent during this era, while True Mother is still with us on earth?

To answer this, we must look at the vital foundation True Mother has tirelessly established globally. The fact that the leaders of an Islamic nation like Pakistan invited True Mother as a State Guest is not merely a political formality; it is a profound testament to the power of the foundation she has laid through decades of sacrificial work for peace.

We are standing on that foundation. The joy I witnessed in the Pakistani field, and the hopeful steps we take here in Nepal—all of this shows that the foundation is ready for us to accelerate our work.

The command “Be fruitful” is a call to action. It is a divine instruction to actively engage in the final era of providence. This mission, the one-third of humanity, requires more than just goodwill; it requires a renewed sense of urgency, determination, and practical application of our faith, just as True Mother has shown us.

Therefore, let us rise today, grounded in the First Blessing of individual perfection, and commit ourselves with renewed energy to the Second Blessing. Let us become the proud fruits of Heaven that True Mother seeks, leading our brothers and sisters toward the light and ensuring that the goal of one-third of humanity attending Heavenly Parent is achieved on our watch.
