Break the Shell and Be Reborn

Beloved brothers and sisters. I hope you have been well this past week.

Over the past two weeks, we’ve shared practical ideas for living out the First Blessing—individual perfection. Today, I wish to speak with you about something even more essential: our mindset and resolve. To truly enter a new era, we must first break free from the framework and comfort of our past. Today I want to share with you some wisdom from the Principle of Creation.

I know that you all are very worried and your hearts are hurting due to True Mother’s being held in detention center. But even in her confinement, True Mother’s heart is not burdened for herself—it is filled with concern for each one of us. She continues to speak to us with unwavering love:

“All you have to do is talk to people about the Principle of Creation. About the Principle, about attending Heavenly Parent, and about Heavenly Parent’s dream. Humanity must become one family that can attend Heavenly Parent on earth.”

How deeply do we understand these words of True Mother’s? In order to invite Heavenly Parent to earth, we need to have a profound understanding of the Principle of Creation, the meaning of attendance, and Heavenly Parent’s dream. What we have understood until now about God as our Father, about the Principle, and about God’s dream are clearly different from the true ideal within the heart of our Creator, Heavenly Parent, that True Mother has newly revealed.

Even while in detention, True Mother deeply desires that we not miss the moment when the train of a new era and new history is departing. Her message to the world’s religious leaders —“The train has reached its final station; everyone must get off, and go and find True Mother and make a new beginning”— echoes this same urgency.

To truly understand True Mother’s words, there is something we must do first. Today, as we enter into this new age, I would like to share with you some of the things we must consider deeply.

1. The Principle of Creation: Why the Chicken Comes First

True Parents once asked, “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” Though this question has puzzled humanity for ages, for us today, it is a message from Heaven that awakens us to God’s fundamental principles of creation. True Father answered clearly: “The chicken came first.”

Why is this? It is because Heavenly Parent’s vision of a perfect result existed before the process of creation began. Before anything else, Heavenly Parent had the vision of a perfect world—a kingdom of heaven on earth—and to bring that vision into reality, created the first two human beings, one man and one woman.

This starting point for the ideal perfect world was like the ideal “chicken,” capable of multiplying and filling the earth. “The chicken comes first” is Heaven’s declaration that the completed vision and the perfect being—the perfected human being—is the necessary starting point. True Parents stand in the position of the original ancestors before the Fall, the original “chicken,” who have realized that initial creative vision. Our transformation begins with the mindset of embodying this perfect vision—of becoming that completed ‘chicken.’

2. Life Within the Egg: The 21-Day Course and the Necessity for Rebirth

Beloved brothers and sisters,

Imagine holding a small egg in your hand. In order for that egg to become a chick, it must go through a 21-day incubation period. These 21 days symbolize the number of perfection, 21, and can be divided into the three stages of growth: formation, growth, and completion.

We who have come to know True Parents and have been reborn through our faith are like those eggs. Under the protection and guidance of True Parents, we have walked a path of devotion and growth through the restoration of all things, through witnessing, through receiving the Blessing, and by fulfilling our mission as heavenly tribal messiahs. Each of these steps has been part of our growth process, and has required a certain amount of time. All of the time and intense effort we have offered was the process of preparing to hatch, to be reborn with our new life.

We are now standing at the very threshold of a new era. The gates of Heaven have opened, and we are entering the age of Cheon Il Guk, a time to live amid Heavenly Parent’s Grace. Our faith journey has reached the end of the 21-day completion period. This is the moment when the chick breaks through its shell and steps into a new world. It is the beginning of a new environment, a new age.

3. Break the Shell and Be Reborn as a New Creation: Your Decision as an Ancestor

Beloved brothers and sisters,

The shell of the egg originally served to protect the life within. But for new life to emerge, the shell must be broken. If we cling to the shell, it no longer protects—it becomes a prison of ego, bad habits, and fallen desires.

Since we have reached the end of the 21-day period, this new providential time demands that we boldly cast off the old shell, that we step away from our old selves and our fallen nature.

The Bible speaks clearly about the necessity for rebirth:

“Jesus answered, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.’” (John 3:3)

On April 13, True Mother offered the Cheonil Sanctum at Cheon Won Gung to Heavenly Parent and proclaimed the beginning of the age of living together substantially with Heavenly Parent:

“Now You are truly the rightful Master of this earth… Our second, third, and fourth generation… are going out to the world to impart the vision of Your earthly kingdom across the land… The gates of Heaven, the gates of God’s kingdom of Cheon Il Guk, are now wide open.”

True Mother has declared the advent of an era where we attend Heavenly Parent, an era when the gates of Heaven are wide open. But have we truly felt the arrival of this new age in our daily lives?

Just as a chick cannot imagine the world of chickens until it breaks out of its shell, unless we change, unless we break free from the comforts and the framework of our past, we too will not be able to experience life in the kingdom of heaven on earth, the Kingdom of God, where we directly attend Heavenly Parent.

True Mother has urged us: “I am already 83 years old! There is not much time left!” We no longer have any time to delay, blame others, or become complacent. We are living in a time no one in history has ever experienced, the time to live together substantially with Heavenly Parent.

4. Become the First Ancestors who Realize the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth

Beloved brothers and sisters,

Let us take to heart the words of the Apostle Paul:

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)

True Parents’ words, “The chicken comes first,” are telling us that now is the time for each of us to break our shell and be transformed to a new being. This is not just about our own personal transformation. It is Heaven’s call for us to rise as true ancestors, those who can pass on blessings to future generations.

The path to fulfilling the First Blessing is to break out of our shell and be transformed into a “chicken”—one who is embodying Heavenly Parent’s creative original vision for creation. The completed ‘chicken’ is a being that multiplies life and scatters seeds. By shattering the selfish shell of our fallen nature, we transform into a being that possesses the ‘qualifications of an ancestor,’capable of embodying the Principle and transmitting the Blessing to our descendants.

The path of faith we are walking is not a journey of mere discussion or theoretical contemplation. It is the path of living Heavenly Parent’s dream, life in the kingdom of heaven on earth, in our daily lives. It is the path of becoming the first-generation ancestors who will be honored by our descendants.

Beloved brothers and sisters,

Now is the time to make a decision and take action. Each of us must break the shell and embrace our transformation. Let us be spiritually reborn, cast aside the limits of the past and transform into completely new beings. This is the path to joining True Mother in participating in a new era and new history. This is the attitude we must maintain.

Even while she is confined in the detention center, True Mother has pleaded with us not to miss the train of this new age:

“All you have to do is talk to people about the Principle of Creation. About the Principle, about attending Heavenly Parent, and about Heavenly Parent’s dream. Humanity must become one family that can attend Heavenly Parent on earth.”

This is True Mother’s earnest appeal to us. And this is the path to our truly understanding and living according to her will.

As we seek to embrace the winds of change centered on the First Blessing, our next message will focus on the Second Blessing—multiplication, and on True Mother’s entreaty that “one-third of humanity must come to attend Heavenly Parent.” Let us prepare to reflect together next week on this crucial message.

I pray that you, your families, and your churches will experience peace throughout this coming week.
