IAYSP Cambodia successfully conducted the Mother of Peace Cleaning Project under the theme “Loving nature through cleaning”. The program, which was held on September 16, 2023, brought together 10 young people from some universities in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, IAYSP Cambodia members, and volunteers to clean the Riverside.
When we arrived at the site for the cleaning project, there seemed no chance to do the project because the water level of Riverside was very high. But with all the difficulties we did what originally planned to do. All the members of the team were excited, happy, and grateful to experience such a service project. By participating in this service project, youth could simply feel the true meaning of service and volunteering work which is giving love and practicing living for the sake of others in actions.
We went down into the river to clean and pick up garbage such as plastic bottles, Styrofoam, milk tea coffee cups, etc. Another reason to enjoy the activity was to meet our old friends and members in IAYSP Cambodia. We were trying to reach out step by step with the wish to bring them back to our circle and build strong family relationships so that they can continue to participate in our education program and activities. And luckily this service activity was a chance to meet them.
The Mother of Peace Cleaning Project ended with a happy heart and smile because it became our small reunion and cleaning project together. We are grateful to our beloved True Mother who inspired us to live for the sake of others with a youthful spirit and set an example for the young generations in Cambodia and around the world.
Going beyond ourselves is something that we must experience in our life of faith and this service project is a chance to start this in action. And as True Mother mentioned we could feel how we can be able to love creation and take care of our environment and nature. Also, we help and encourage others to see if they can do the same, we are able to make our world a better place to live.
