June 16th every year is the International Day of the African Child which honours the memories of students who were massacred in Soweto, South Africa in 1976 for protecting against injustice and inequality in the apartheid regime. It also raises awareness of the continuing need for improvement of the education provided to African children.
Women`s Federation for Word Peace Kenya organized a program to commemorate the day which was first initiated by the Organization of African Unity (Now AU) in 1991.
The commemoration event this year was held at the Lampros Educational Center in Kayole, Nairobi Kenya, the children in attendance were 300 in number together with their teachers and main staff.
The goal of visiting the school is for outreach in order to introduce the Vision and mission of the Women`s Federation for World Peace and also introduce our Founders Father Moon and Mother Moon`s philosophy of Peace. It was also a good occasion to teach the children about character Education.
The children had prepared Songs, Poems and dances to mark the day. And after the speeches the guests and directors of the school received our True Father`s Autobiography from the WFWP Kenya and they all deeply appreciated.
The children received gift items of snacks and drinks from the WFWP Kenya. In his speech, the director of the school Mr. Marube thanked the WFWP Kenya for their Visit and gifts.
Follow up programs of Teaching Family values to the Teachers and staff were discussed and also the plan to teach Character Education and also open a Tongil Moo Do club in the school.
