On True Parents’ Birthday, February 23, 2007, Father gave the twelfth peace message; he read the written speech and, as is his custom, made additional comments throughout. What follows is an English translation of the speech with Father’s extemporaneous comments colored to distinguish them from the prepared text.
What shall I do? Shall I give a testimony or my prepared speech? This speech is important… It contains a conclusion about how precious individual perfection is; this is the terminal point of all human hopes. Therefore, each individual, family, nation, the universe, and even God Himself needs this message. Please remember this; be natural, open your minds wide and appreciate the content of the message. It contains something you will need not only today but throughout your lives. I believe the people here must energetically unite to realize the content of this message on an individual level, in their countries, and in the world. Those who promise to do so please raise your hands and give me a round of applause.
[Father drinks water.] Would you like to drink some? Drinking on your behalf pleases me. As for the topic of my address… [Father coughs.] My voice is a bit hoarse. I should speak loudly. What do you think? Is it better if I speak softly, or loudly? A long time ago, when I was young, I would shout so loudly that walls would collapse, and I would break the podium as I lectured. I know if I do that now, it may seem improper to the people that have come here today¡¦. Since God has youthful vigor and likes young people, I earnestly ask you to please have greater courage and the vigor of youth; adjust yourselves during this time in order to be like young people. Aju. You have to say “Aju.” [Aju.] Thank you.
My topic today is God’s Ideal Family (and I am going to talk about the purpose of the Creation and the ideal family) and the Responsibility the Citizens of Cheon Il Guk Are Called to Fulfill. By Cheon Il Guk, I mean the nation where two people became one, and a large number of people unite to create a great nation and a great world.
Distinguished former and current heads of state, guests from home and abroad who love peace and who have come from every corner of the earth to celebrate and commemorate this day:
First of all, my wife Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, our entire family and I would like to welcome you all to this occasion. Family is important! We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your efforts on the front line in fulfilling your mission of advancing the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and realizing peace for all humanity. [Applause] Thank you.
As you may know, following the coronation ceremonies at which I was acknowledged as the King of Peace—held both in a United States Senate Office Building and at the Korean National Assembly, in 2004—I founded the Universal Peace Federation in New York City on September 12, 2005. On the foundation of those victories, on June 13, 2006, we held the Entrance Ceremony for Cheon Jeong Peace Palace and the Coronation Ceremony of the True Parents as the King and Queen of Peace in Heaven and on Earth. These were each steps toward the establishment of the substantial kingdom of heaven on earth, Cheon Il Guk.
Heaven’s providence is progressing rapidly each day. In its course for the establishment of Cheon Il Guk, a day can feel like a thousand years and a thousand years can feel like a single day.
Distinguished world leaders, this year, 2007, the seventh year of Cheon Il Guk, is a jubilee year in the providence. But it is not a year of rest; we don’t have time. In this holy year, today is also a meaningful day, because by the Korean way of reckoning, it is my own eighty-eighth birthday as well as the sixty-fifth birthday of my wife Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. To commemorate this day and to renew our resolve, I would like to convey to you a message that summarizes Heaven’s message that my wife, the three generations of the True Family and I have been conveying to the 6.5 billion people of the world during the past two years. My purpose is to remind you once again of your position and mission from the viewpoint of God’s providence and to reemphasize the significance of the era in which we live. The title of this message is “God’s Ideal Family and the Responsibility the Citizens of Cheon Il Guk Are Called to Fulfill.”
God’s Purpose of Creation
Respected leaders from around the world¡¦ [Yes.] Thank you. It’s so hot¡¦. What do you think is God’s ultimate purpose for creating human beings? It is to experience joy through the perfection of ideal families filled with true love. What does an ideal family look like? Simply put, an ideal family is the model for absoluteness and peace, wherein its members have secured a parent–child relationship with God and can live in attendance to God as their parent, without a doubt. People haven’t known God; they have been unaware that He is their Father. We should be able to attend Him and be closer to Him in heart than grandchildren are to their grandfathers. He is handing down everything to His partners in love.
God created Adam and Eve and established them as the first ancestors of humankind with the intent that they form an ideal family that is the model for absoluteness and peace. He committed Himself fully to raising them as His son and daughter, to be encapsulations of the entire cosmos, mediators between the spiritual and physical worlds, and lords of creation who would be joined with Him through true love, true life and true lineage.
Absoluteness Sexual Morality and Conjugal Love
Ladies and gentlemen, Adam and Eve had to establish a model, peaceful, ideal family. God, the absolute being, created human beings as His children in order to instill in them absolute values, which spring from an absolute standard. Thus, human beings must follow the way of that unchanging standard in keeping with the demands of the heavenly path. This means we must follow our destined life course in order to attend God, our eternal parent. In other words, for us to perfect ourselves in resemblance of God and obtain the stature of people of character who can be called sons and daughters of the eternal God, we must follow the path based on the unwavering standard God has determined. The essence of this path is the standard of absolute sexual purity.
The first stage is maintaining absolute sexual purity prior to getting married. After we are born, we go through a process of growth. We pass through infancy and childhood in a very safe and secure environment under our parents’ love and protection. We then enter the period of adolescence, which signals the start of a new and dynamic life. This is the moment when we begin to travel the path to becoming a mature human being—internally, through the perfection of our character, and externally, by reaching adulthood. During this time there is a strict requirement that everyone must meet, no matter who he or she is; that is, maintaining his or her purity. Say it once. [Purity.] Purity.
The second stage is establishing the model of absoluteness in the love between husband and wife. This heavenly law of total marital fidelity is more precious than life itself. Husband and wife are eternal partners given to each other by God. Through having children, they become the cocreators of true love, true life and true lineage, and the origin of that which is absolute, unique, unchanging and eternal. Who knew this?
How could people who preserve their purity before marriage and whom God bonds together in purity as husband and wife ever deviate from the heavenly way and go astray, following a wrong path?
Ladies and gentlemen, absolute and sacred conjugal love is the greatest blessing that Heaven has bestowed on humankind. You must understand this. Yet, without adhering to the principle of absolute sexual morality, the path to the perfection of one’s character—to spiritual maturity—is closed. Furthermore, without securing the foundation of absolute sexual purity within a true family of perfected individuals, it is impossible for God to manifest His presence in dignity as the incarnate God of character. This is important.
Therefore, if Adam and Eve had achieved individual perfection—the perfection of their character—by upholding the strict principle of sexual purity in accordance with God’s will, and then entered into conjugal relations through His holy blessing, they would have attained complete oneness with Him. God would have dwelt within their union. Their children would have also been linked to this holy order of true love, and enjoyed a direct relationship with God as their parent. The Fall is the problem.
The Attributes of True Love
What is true love? Its essence does not lie in receiving but in being the first to give, in living for the sake of others and for the sake of the larger whole. True love gives, forgets that it has given, and continues to give without ceasing. True love gives joyfully. We find it in the joyful and loving heart of a mother who cradles her baby in her arms and nurses it at her breast. True love is sacrificial love, as with a devoted son who gains his greatest satisfaction through helping his parents.
When we are bound together in true love, we can be together forever, continually rejoicing in each other’s company. The attraction of true love brings all things in the universe to our feet; even God will come to dwell with us. Nothing can compare to the value of true love. It has the power to dissolve the barriers fallen human beings have created, including national boundaries, the barriers between races and even those between religions.
The main attributes of God’s true love are that it is absolute, unique, unchanging and eternal, so whoever practices true love will live with God, share His happiness, enjoy the right to participate as an equal in His work, and the right of inheritance. Therefore, a life lived for the sake of others, a life of true love, is the absolute prerequisite for entering the kingdom of heaven. Why don’t you give me a big hand?
The Kingdom of Heaven and True Love
Ladies and gentlemen, what kind of place is the kingdom of heaven? In brief, the heavenly kingdom is a world overflowing with God’s true love. True love is its axis. True love is everywhere, in the outward expression as well as in the inward thought. Everyone’s life is filled with true love from beginning to end. In the kingdom of heaven, people are born through true love, live in the embrace of true love and follow the track of true love until the day they pass on into the next world, the spirit world.
The kingdom of heaven is a natural world where all people live for the sake of one other. Consequently, antagonism and jealousy cannot be found anywhere in that world. It is a world that is not governed by money, position or power. There, the success of every person represents the success of the whole, the likes of every person represent the likes of the whole, and the joy of every person represents the joy of the whole.
The kingdom of heaven is a world filled with the air of true love, where everyone breathes true love. Its life throbs with love, everywhere and all the time. The citizens of that kingdom are all linked together through their common membership in God’s lineage. There, the whole world and all its people are connected in an inseparable relationship, like the cells in our bodies. True love, the love that is God’s essence, is Heaven’s only governing power. Accordingly, God also exists for true love.
The Importance of Lineage
Do you know what has pained God’s heart most, causing Him the greatest grief over the long history since the Fall of Adam and Eve? God lost His lineage that was the first thing, and with that, God lost the basis of human brotherhood when Cain killed Abel and even His ownership over the creation. Everything was turned upside down. God’s lineage is more precious than life itself. Yet, this was lost. Without it, the fruits of true life and true love never matured.
Ladies and gentlemen, lineage is more important than life and more precious than love. Life and love come together to create lineage. Lineage cannot be established if either life or love is missing. Therefore, among the three—love, life and lineage—lineage is the fruit. God’s lineage contains the seed of true love. God’s lineage provides the context and environment for a true life. People weren’t able to receive this seed. This problem was caused by the Fall.
Hence, for us to become the ideal people envisioned by God, that is, people of ideal character, and to create ideal families, we first need to be linked to His lineage. To take it a step further, only when we are linked to God’s lineage is it possible to create God’s homeland, the ideal nation.
Please inscribe the importance of lineage in your hearts. I cannot emphasize this enough. There’s no use in just becoming devoted children or patriots. A father and mother didn’t put down roots; children cannot shoot out branches and give birth to posterity. Isn’t that so? That’s why I’m asking you to please inscribe the importance of lineage in your hearts. I cannot emphasize this enough. Will you remember this? [Yes.] Say it loudly. [Yes!] Thank you. This is because the parent–child relationship is the highest and most important of all relationships, and the model, lineal relationship between parent and child is the only way through which God’s lineage can be bequeathed and made to last forever. You must be clear on this point.
The Cross-Cultural Marriage Blessing
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, our bondage to the lineage of Satan has caused so much suffering throughout history. Let us now boldly step forward to sever it and be grafted onto the root of the lineage of the True Parents. Why should we foolishly continue to live and die as wild olive trees? Where can we find the path to escape this vicious cycle?
It is through the holy blessing. The holy Blessing Ceremony offers the grace of being grafted onto the true olive tree. It was instituted by the True Parents, who bring God’s true lineage to humankind. [Applause] Thank you. Without changing your lineage, you cannot change your seed. The best way to restore people to the position of children of God through changing their lineage is through the cross-cultural marriage blessing. People intermingle. If a person from the United States and one from Russia just agree to be blessed to each other, their life together—on its own—would become a process of registration in the heavenly kingdom. Wow! Do you actually understand what that means? The best way to restore people is through the cross-cultural marriage blessing. These marriages contribute to the great task of transcending the barriers of race, culture, nationality, ethnicity and religion, and to creating one family of humankind. Now, I’ll never perish. The man who initiated this movement can stand tall, even if the whole world opposes him. It is a revolutionary occasion, creating the heavenly lineage on a completely new level, transcending the obstacles of race, culture, nationality and religion. It is an act that severs all links of enmity. It is the sacred rite of the change of lineage, through which everyone can be re-created through the True Parents. They are the king and queen of peace, the manifestations of God in substance, who enable Him to exercise His providence in the present world. Everyone must receive the blessing. Everyone, no matter who the person is, even if he is the president of a nation, must receive the blessing. The constitution of any country was instituted not by God, but by people, fallen people. The right of ownership does not belong to people either. I see Mongolian leaders here. No one belongs to God.¡¦
The path is open wide for all people to change their lineage through the Holy Wine Ceremony that the True Parents have instituted. Through the Holy Wine Ceremony people can understand the will of Heaven. Holy Wine contains twenty-one ingredients necessary for the change of lineage. The holy blessing is yours that you may establish true families. The responsibility you are called to fulfill is to teach others, without fail, that the perfection of a life of absolute sexual morality through the cross-cultural marriage blessing is the ultimate means and method to establish a peaceful, ideal world here on earth. Do you understand? You didn’t know that you possess an organ so precious that you absolutely wouldn’t exchange it for even the whole universe.
Even in the Last Days there is no other method than this. You know that I disclosed this fact because it was my calling and responsibility. You also know that these principles should be popularized beyond your families and tribes throughout the whole human family. That is your responsibility. All ancestors in the spirit world passed through this, so they will tell you someday, “We passed through this; why, before coming here, didn’t you help to bestow this liberating blessing on people of all nations, on humankind?” You are going to face a problem. You can go there and check whether what I’m saying is a lie.
A Family of Three Generations Living in Harmony
Ladies and gentlemen, the family sets the pattern for living together, the pattern for living as if stuck to each other. Because of the Fall we lost the original family, original nation and original mind. The warm environment of oneness based on love and respect between parents and children, mutual fidelity and love between husband and wife, and trust and mutual reliance among siblings is the manifestation of the model, ideal family of peace. This means that you need to establish a true family, wherein the stem of true love emerges from the root of true love and bears the fruit of true love. This was not accomplished because of the Fall. Mongolians have to be serious. Nobody could stand in such a position. Listen well.
In this manner, the three generations of grandparents, parents, and children should live together as one family and serve the eternal God. God desires to see such families, and it is your responsibility as tribal messiahs and ambassadors for peace to strive for and establish them—families of Cheon Il Guk, the kingdom of God. This means we are reorganizing.
Ladies and gentlemen, you should form families that God will miss and yearn to return to after He has been away. He does not have a family He can visit. He should feel comfortable to visit your home like any parent coming to visit his or her children. This is what it means to live in service to God. Within such a family, God is the vertical subject over your conscience, and your conscience is the vertical subject over your body. Thus unity with God brings your mind and body into harmony.
At the absolute, final point, everything becomes one and follows that vertical subject. We call the vertical subject of a person the “conscience.” It takes the subject position and unifies the mind with the body. Your mind and body are fighting each other, aren’t they? They are not united. If they are not united, God cannot come to you. You need to understand that peace cannot come to you. Throughout history, because of the struggle between mind and body, no one could pull up the root of grief. No one else could do it. Only I, the True Parent, taught about it clearly. Once you fully understand this and unite your mind and body on the basis of this resolute truth, there won’t be any problems, because Heaven connects you to the source of boundless energy. You must know that nobody can break this. This is unity.
Family members who have established that vertical axis can perfect the four realms of love and heart—parental love, conjugal love, children’s love and siblings love. Under those circumstances, people can perfect the four realms of love and heart—parental love, conjugal love, children’s love, and siblings’ love. That’s the problem. Parental love comes first, then conjugal love; parent–child unity; conjugal unity; love in the unity of children, siblings’ love. Love among siblings extends through the realm of three generations—the grandfather’s family, the parents and their siblings, and the siblings that are the parents and their siblings’ sons and daughters. That’s what we call siblings’ love. That is how we achieve the perfection of the four great realms of heart—parental love, conjugal love, love of children for their parents and love among siblings. Members of the Unification Church do not understand this. Three generations of descendants must become one. Do you understand? You forget about this, which is why you don’t know how to witness to your fathers, mothers and siblings. You have been unable to resolve this problem, which is connected to your lineage. God cannot relate to the fact that some foolish Unification Church members follow the traditions of the believers of the established religions. You must grasp this idea. Do you understand? I’m talking about siblings. Therefore, we must complete the four great realms of heart. Only such a family includes up and down, left and right, three vertical ages (the Old, New and Completed Testament Ages) as well as four other ages (the ages of your grandfather, your father, your own age and that of your children). That is how the four great realms of love are perfected. That family links all directions—up and down, front and rear, right and left. They revolve around each other in everlasting spherical motion. This is the eternal God’s model, ideal family, which expands to ideal model nations and a peaceful, ideal kingdom. The Old, New and Completed Testament Ages are all the same. You see, if the age of individualism, age of family-centered ideology and the age of nation-centered ideology become one—if all these unite—this will lead to eternal existence. Everything will move in concert; God’s eternal, model, ideal family, ideal nation and peace will come about. This will be the ideal, peaceful kingdom. An individual kingdom will not do. Do you understand? You have to understand this clearly. [Yes.] If you understood, please clap. In-laws cannot be different. Seven generations, fourteen generations must become one. Generation by generation¡¦ One thousand, two thousand… If seven generations do not unite, they cannot go to the kingdom of heaven. They will have to wait. Do you understand? [Yes.] You are the same. A family embraces the realm of three generations, but after forty or fifty years… Passing through seven generations, it will grow to become hundreds of people. So, you have to live for the sake of others.
This means we need a movement to realize a society of interdependence, mutual prosperity and universally shared values. We need to make humanity one great family, by breaking down the walls in our hearts and eliminating even the boundaries between nations. This movement begins from each family. You should know that if we don’t realize it within our families, we have nothing to do with world peace. If only the entire world were filled with such true families! It would be an orderly world where people governed themselves by the heavenly way and heavenly laws, with no need for lawyers, prosecutors or even judges.
Who would be most fully aware of your good and bad deeds? It would be your grandparents, your parents, your spouse and your children. Is there anything that cannot be resolved within the family? When parents and children, husband and wife, and elder and younger siblings set an example of living for the sake of one another, how could they do anything unforgivable? What reason would they have to commit crimes? A world governed by the heavenly way and the heavenly laws is a natural world, an unobstructed world of truth and pure reason. That’s right. It is a world at the “high noon” of absolute values, without any dark shadows. There are no shadows at noon. If your family casts a shadow during the day or at night, you cannot go to the heavenly kingdom. If a shadow stretches from east to west, people can hide. That’s what I am speaking about—a world at the “high noon” of absolute values, where such things don’t happen.
Therefore, each of us should bear in mind that it is our providential calling to establish a true family. This is the way we can expedite the establishment of the universal peace kingdom on earth. Your family doesn’t exist just by itself; everything is connected to you. Therefore, your families must unify the world. You must unite your mind and body and reach unity with your spouse. Three generations and three ages, the Old, New and Completed Testament Ages, must become one in your family. Such a representative central family is a model in the spirit world of the ideal God envisaged at the time of the Creation. A model family¡¦. Each of us should bear in mind that it is our providential calling to establish a true family. This is the way we can expedite the establishment of the universal peace kingdom on earth. It’s not just one family. A family is connected by a rope to the whole world; if we combine all families one by one, we can create something hundreds and thousands of times bigger. That’s why I am telling you to accomplish this in your family first. Do you understand? [Yes.] Please bear this in mind.
The Dual Structure of Human Beings
and the Spirit World
Viewing the structure of a human being from another angle, we can perceive that God created us as entities with dual characteristics. We have a “bodily self” and a “mind-like self,” don’t we? He created our physical bodies as miniatures of the corporeal, tangible world and our spiritual bodies as representatives of—and lords of—the incorporeal world. Accordingly, it is intended that we live for a hundred years or so in the physical world and then pass on naturally and automatically into the incorporeal spirit world once the physical body ceases to function. This is from the Principle of Creation. No one can amend it. That’s why not even God could prevent Satan from falling.
In this way, though it cannot be perceived by the eyes in our physical bodies, the spirit world is the automatic and inevitable extension of our lives on earth, humankind’s eternal, original homeland, created by God. The ideal that led to the Creation is unchangeable. You cannot change it. If you conform to it, you will inevitably become a master of the world. Aju. [Aju.]
The spirit world does actually exist. It is not a world that has been fantasized or imagined into existence. We do not have the right of choice concerning it. It is not a world we can go to if we please or refuse to go to if we would rather not. Just as God is eternal and unchanging, the spirit world He created is also eternal and unchanging. In like manner to our living in the physical world in our physical bodies and forming all sorts of relationships with the existing world, even in the spiritual world we are destined to go on living in our spiritual bodies, and to form and maintain close relationships with all phenomena of the spirit world. That’s the way it should be. That’s how the Creator made it, which means nobody can persevere alone.
Life on Earth Is for the Perfection of the Spirit Self
In the relationship between a person’s spirit and physical body, the spirit is the more important of the two—not the body, which eats food. The physical body lasts for about a hundred years before it ceases to function, but the spirit lives forever, transcending time and space. Without your spirit self, without God who is spirit, without the invisible God who can become a friend to your spirit self, you cannot become a devoted son or daughter, or move around. The universe is so huge. It is billions of times bigger than the solar system. They say the earth is 4.5 to 4.7 billion years old. There are some stars out there, light from which hasn’t yet reached the earth even though that light has been coming toward earth for 4.7 billion years! Keep in mind that the speed of light is 300,000 kilometers per second, and that in one second it can cover a distance seven and a half times longer than the equator. The distance light covers in a year is called a light-year. How huge the universe is! Can we, who are like tiny pieces of dust, claim superiority and act however we wish? Anyone who does is out of his mind. Should he be punished, or blessed? A person who violates universal law will be automatically punished. I’m giving you a hard time again. That’s the way the world is, so if that doesn’t match the way you are living, you’re in trouble. Even the Republic of Korea would disappear. Is there an owner now? Mind and body are struggling with each other. Who’s the master—mind or body? Who is the master, able to ease the struggle of the soul? Is the nation the master? Is a leader of a government party or an opposition party a master? None of these presidents, ministers and parliament members is a master. They all will disappear. None of them was installed by God¡¦.
No matter how well you fare in this earthly world, you are bound to die. Therefore, before you pass on to the next world, you should achieve harmony between your spirit and physical body by living your earthly life in such a way that you meet the standards of both the physical and spiritual worlds. In other words, you are called to take up the responsibility of perfecting your spiritual self within your physical body based on the finite life you live in the tangible, physical world. You must do it. You can ask your conscience, which knows everything about the things you are doing. You cannot cheat it. That’s why the conscience comes ahead of one’s parents, teachers and even God. If only as people lived they’d ask their conscience about everything, things like religion and politics wouldn’t be necessary. That’s the level we have to reach.
This does not mean, however, that the perfection of your spiritual self happens automatically. Only on the basis of your having fully united your mind and body during your earthly life, by expressing true love through your actions, can your spiritual self fully mature. While living on earth, your every action and movement—without exception—is recorded on your spirit self, with the ¡©pub¡©lic laws of heaven as the standard. The conscience knows everything. Accordingly, you will enter the spirit world in the form of your spirit self, on which your earthly life is recorded with 100 percent precision. Your spirit will show plainly whether you have led a ripe life of goodness, or a wormy, rotten life of sinfulness. What this means is that God will not judge you; you will be your own judge. In traditional churches, they say that God is a judge sending evil people to hell; actually they go there by themselves. God is the most miserable being.
The Life Course of the True Parent
Ladies and gentlemen, my life for the past eighty-eight years been one of sorrow, marked by inexpressible suffering and persecution. God couldn’t stop the Fall. The true parents became false parents and destroyed everything; God could not stop them. Though God had taught the original man and woman the way of true parents, He could not reveal these facts to me. It’s the human portion of responsibility to reach perfection in marriage. Our first ancestors fell while still imperfect, at the age of sixteen, and could not build a perfect blessed family; Heaven could not teach them. Nobody could tell them, “You are committing the Fall and are bound for hell.” The Principle of the Unification Church explains everything clearly. You actually know everything. There is no excuse. As the third Adam, the True Parent, I need to indemnify and completely reverse all the failures of the first and second Adams. I am responsible to complete not only the mission of the Savior, the Messiah, and the Lord at his second coming, but also the missions of all those major figures from whom religions have sprung. [Applause] Once people come to know the True Parents, they have to live for the sake of the absolute master. Even God cannot fulfill their responsibility for them. They have to believe in True Parents, give them priority and attend them, overcoming any opposition. They must fulfill the duty of devoted children, loyal subjects of God and of the sinless True Parents. Only then can people enter the kingdom of heaven; this is the original principle.
Do you think you can go to the kingdom of heaven based on faith in people like Paul? It is a pure fabrication. Try to go there. Do you consider faith in Paul important? It is nothing. People who believe in the supremacy of their own religious denomination cannot go there. Those who believe in the superiority of their nation won’t go there either. God’s nation is one family. It is like a tree with a central root and trunk that has been growing for thousands of years from a single seed. It has numerous branches and fruits, but all these millions of children have equal value. They are all intended to go to the kingdom of heaven, as were their ancestors. I have to make you realize that such a peaceful world will inevitably come to be. This is important. The mission of the True Parent, the third Adam, is to fulfill all that was not fulfilled due to the failure of the first and second Adams. He must fulfill the mission of the Savior, Messiah and Lord at his second advent; moreover, he must the fulfill all the religious founders’ missions. I did become the True Parent, didn’t I? We don’t need all these words—Savior, Messiah, Lord at his second advent. How did all these words come about? It was because of the Fall. Now we have built the palace. True Parents had to become saviors to save the nations. The Messiah, Jesus, came to factions that were fighting, in order to become a king, a master. So, people are supposed to attend the Lord at his second advent, the second parent. On behalf of the Lord at his second advent, you must become saviors of the land, of the world, you must become messiahs to save religion¡¦.
How did God feel in His heart when He couldn’t teach people? False parents became masters, so the Lord at his second advent must create a world where all this can be rectified and offered to Heaven. Then God can stand in the position of the Lord and say to the people, “Everything you have been taught are my teachings. Satan took my possessions, but now—since you’ve obtained all these things and offered them to me—I can return them to you. You can stand in the position of masters having the right of ownership only in the third era, when such things become possible.
Bearing similarities to God’s creation of the universe, my life has constituted the great work of the re-creation of humanity, where not even the smallest error is permitted. It has been a lonely course that cannot be discussed with anyone, one that took me down thorny paths through the wilderness—paths that I had to follow while utterly alone. Not even God could acknowledge me. Frequently hovering in a state between life and death, even vomiting blood, I still had to rise again like a phoenix to remain true to my promise to God and establish the absolute model of the ideal family and of absolute sexual purity. There was no father able to establish such a model, and no children born through such sexual relations. There has been no family created by the marital union of a man and a woman standing on a perfect foundation of such a conjugal relationship; there was no such tribe or nation. Everything should be rejected. That’s why Korea now can trust neither in communism nor in democratic America.¡¦
Look. Even God wants to be absolute, so wouldn’t the son of the absolute being also want to be absolute? Wouldn’t he? “Absolute” means “only one.” Do you understand? The word “absolute” cannot be applied to something that exists as two copies. So, if parents and children, husband and wife or brothers and sisters are fighting each other, how are they going to build absolute relationships? Can they do it or not? Huh? Answer me! Can they, or can’t they? [They cannot do it.] I’m telling you they can! You scoundrels! [No, they cannot.] Since you are saying that they can’t do it, it’s not rude of me to call you scoundrels. You may think, “What a nasty guy this Rev. Moon is, if he, being a pastor, swears in a public setting.” It may seem that I’m going to perish, but I won’t. Am I right, or not? [You’re right.] Did that come to your head, or to your heart? Do you understand things with your head, or with your heart? [We understand things with our heart.] You have to understand them with your heart. People who don’t feel deep emotions and impulses, making their bodies move like a heartbeat, will find themselves off the track leading to the heavenly kingdom. Aju. [Aju.] Say it louder. [Aju!] I believe you.
The purpose of my life was to establish the absolute model of a phoenix¡¦. I had to endure imprisonment six times, though I was innocent: for working in the underground independence movement in my early days while studying in Japan; for propagating the will of God in Pyongyang, which was under communist control immediately after Korea’s independence from colonial rule; during the Syngman Rhee administration after Korea had been reborn as a free nation; and even in the United States, which proudly presents itself to the world as a model of democracy. Who on earth can understand my eventful life, which has been for the sake of perfecting the model of absoluteness in conjugal love? We are proud of all these things, but are you really on my side? Aren’t there people who vacillate? Some ambassadors for peace associated with the Unification Church expect me to recognize them. You are not supposed to expect recognition. What are you going to do? I’m merciless. How can I forgive people who are like that? To forgive this kind of thing I would need to take responsibility for it, make restitution… I am not someone that avoids responsibility. That’s why you are walking up a long, rough road day and night, and I’m grateful to you for this. A fleeting emotion of a person determines success or failure, eternal happiness and the value of his life. You are going along the course of the hidden will of God in order to gain that victorious right that enables you to prosper. Since you became secret envoys you cannot be treated well without understanding ordinary people. Aju. [Aju. Applause] Who could understand the vicissitudes of my troubled life, which is directed at perfecting an absolute model?
Mine has been a life of misery; by biting my tongue, I have endured for the sake of our God, who deserves pity, and for the sake of the salvation of the world’s fallen people who are suffering in the realm of death. Even now, if one person were to look into my heart and speak just one word of sympathy, I would burst into tears and my tears would flow like a waterfall. If you start shedding tears all at once, taking responsibility for all eight stages from the individual, family, tribe, people, nation and up to the universe, you will end up dying in tears. Don’t say that my circumstances are so bitter; don’t love me in that way. You have to comfort and love me while in the same situation. Since I have been comforting God¡¦
Ladies and gentlemen, once someone becomes an old man of eighty-eight, he would normally look back on his life and quietly prepare to enter the next world. Yet, my life begins from now. [Applause] I didn’t oppose even those who slandered me or beat me. I became a father to people I did not know, and the lord to families of those who pursued me¡¦. It is good that you came. Do you understand me? You are young. I might even kiss you on your cheeks. The life of an eighty-year-old man is now just beginning.
It is not because I have many lingering attachments to this life. It is because I still have yet to fulfill the mission for which I received my call as the True Parent—to save people, who are suffering in the fallen realm, unable to escape from it. Who could take this responsibility? I cannot give it to anyone.
Now the revolutionary era after the coming of heaven, the time of harvest, has arrived. This year, I will continue to guide you in carrying out this universal revolution for the restoration of humanity. Please do not hesitate! Let us hold hands and together uphold the heavenly decree in fulfilling our calling and responsibility! How can we avert our eyes from the situation in which tens of thousands of our brothers and sisters are dying helplessly while waiting for salvation? We cannot turn away from this. This is our fate, our predestined responsibility.
The Advent of the Era of the Peaceful, Ideal Kingdom
Leaders who love peace! You are now living in the most blessed and exalted time in history. We are in the era after the coming of heaven! I proclaim the beginning of the long awaited new heaven and new earth, which billions of your ancestors in the spirit world, who have come and gone in history, have yearned for. Who is doing this? As God’s representative, I am. This is the era of the kingdom of the peaceful, ideal world. The four great religious founders and billions of good ancestors have come to earth to guide you on the blessed path of heaven. The age when the fallen and corrupt world wreaks havoc on humanity, allowing evil people to live better than others, is passing away. It’s passing away.
The Universal Peace Federation, which stands as the “Abel-type United Nations” on the universal level, will work toward a peaceful, ideal world, the eternal ideal God has cherished for the creation, while renewing the existing “Cain-type” United Nations. UPF will provide the leadership for this new dimension, the kingdom of the peaceful, ideal world. Making the “Abel-type United Nations” is a must. You should know that the value of the Abel-type UN exceeds that of your country, so that the creation of an Abel-type UN is a worthwhile undertaking even if to accomplish it you have to give up your life, your property and your entire nation. You won’t lose out. I know this, which is why I have spent my life as I have. I have been making continuous effort for the sake of humanity’s happiness. I’ve been doing this to disperse the grief of the Fall and build a foundation of happiness for myriads of people, who have been hoping for this. From now on individuals and nations can receive the blessing and be registered in heaven. Once Americans and Russians intermarry with each other their nations will be connected with the heavenly nation within three days. There is no owner—neither in America nor in Korea; no country exists that can become an owner. Since the world has become like this, the only way for people go is to my bosom, the lord of the family, the owner who has liberated heaven and earth through eight stages.¡¦ Wait and see whether it will be like this or not. To see what’s going to happen, stand on the front line. Behave well. Don’t look back. Try to overcome some challenges. You will see whether it’s going to happen or not. If it won’t happen, God won’t let me go¡¦.
I have been in many life-and-death situations. UPF is the Abel-type UN, working on the universal level and able to fulfill the functions of the kingdom of global peace on a new level. Say “the Universal Peace Federation” once. [The Universal Peace Federation.] If you fulfill this decree of Heaven, you will discover that individuals, families, nations, the world, and heaven and earth are waiting for you.
The Universal Peace Federation, born through our concerted efforts, represents God’s victory and the fruit of the True Parents’ blood, sweat and tears. It is the world’s cherished hope. It’s the hope of its citizens. Our hope is that today it will carry out the role of an “Abel-type” peace kingdom representing a new sovereignty of universal peace known in Korean as Cheon Il Guk, a counterpart to the existing “Cain-type” UN—no matter how much they oppose me¡¦.
Is it good that you came to the Unification Church, or not? [It is good.] If it is good that you came here, you should die well. Those who are willing to die will obtain protection from God. You are living in the revolutionary era after coming of heaven, the era of the creation of heaven and earth begun by God and me. There has been no other great historical figure able to achieve success, progressive results, and to make proclamations like the ones that I have made. You have to liberate your conscience. Those whose mind and body are at war won’t be able to enter the heavenly kingdom. I won’t allow this whether you are Buddhist, Christian or a follower of Confucianism.
Our Mission in the Era after the Coming of Heaven
The era after the coming of heaven that God and True Parents have begun is a time of dramatic change. You have the mission to make this era blossom and bear fruit in blessing and glory. I have done everything for you—everything. Don’t you all have the peace messages? If we don’t complete the liberation of absolute sexual morality and quickly build the world where words like “free sex” and “homosexuality” are non-existent, the six billion people populating the earth will all die out within sixty years. More than half of humankind will die. You will be accused. I asked this of you earnestly, but¡¦
Thousands of people sent messages from the spirit world, and you’ve heard everything, so they will challenge you, saying, “Did we ask you to come here [to the spirit world] believing in religion? Did we ask you to come holding on to Buddhism? Did we tell you to hold on to your ego? Did we ask you to come here holding on to Buddha or Mohammed? We told you to come here holding on to True Parents, but where are True Parents now?” And you will not understand this. You’ll be like stray dogs. If this is not true, I should disappear¡¦
You have the mission to make this era blossom and bear fruit in blessing and glory. Everything is in your hands, you know¡¦.
I have said that in this age we must recover the true lineage that was lost when Adam fell, by receiving the marriage blessing through the True Parents. The providence of the marriage blessing should be perfected in five stages—the individual, the family, the tribe, the race and the nation. Satan dominated five stages—the ages of the individual, family, tribe, race and nation. It wasn’t complete on the individual level, so until now politicians shed the blood of religious people, trying to weaken and expel them. The Communist Party tried to destroy religion with its atheistic ideology, but it failed because of me. They were no match for me. Their theory is no match for mine. The same thing can be said of America. Now America isn’t listening to me, which is why she is in trouble¡¦.
Messages 1, 2 and 3 are related to True Parents’ family. The fourth message was given to enable nations to receive the blessing, purify their lineage and enter the Abel-type UN, thus forming a unified world and creating universal peace. If we fail, the nation will be lost.
This is the time when, metaphorically speaking, the sun is directly overhead, such that no shadow is cast. This signifies that we have passed through the era before the coming of heaven, which included the Old, New and Completed Testament ages. These eras have required immeasurable restitution and atonement in order to re-create the ideal. The present time, however, corresponds to the era, prior to Adam’s Fall, of building the original, ideal world. This era is different. It refers to the era of true love that is all-encompassing, all-powerful and has overall authority. It is the realm of heart in which the spiritual and physical worlds are bound together as a unified realm with True Parents, the King and Queen of Peace, at the center. In other words, it is the time of the kingdom of peace and unity in heaven and on earth. You probably don’t understand what I’m talking about. Nevertheless, it is all true. So we are busy.
Ladies and gentlemen, your mission and position have been made clear. What do “Cain-type UN” and “Abel-type UN” mean? We must create the families God is hoping for…. Now your position has been made clear. I have explained that within the realm of God’s grace through the True Parents the way is laid out for all people to change their lineage through the Holy Wine Ceremony, to receive the holy blessing and establish true families. People must receive the blessing. Your parents couldn’t become true parents to you; your spouses and children couldn’t become true spouses and children; and your brothers and sisters couldn’t become true siblings…. All these relationships are connected to Satan, but the way exists to restore all of these, and the Unification Church has it. The ultimate way to establish a peaceful, ideal world here on earth is to perfect a life that embraces absoluteness in the marriage relationship through the cross-cultural marriage blessing. The cross-cultural blessing is the grace by which you inherit Heaven’s lineage. You have come to know clearly that the mission for which God has called you is to unfailingly teach these things. Furthermore, as an heir and actual representative of the True Parents, you must now move beyond your concepts and level of awareness to fulfill the responsibility for which you have been called. You know everything. [Applause] Our ancestors were destroyed. Free sex is dumping our society and the world, including young people, into a cesspool swarming with worms. What property do you have in this kind of world? You have no possessions in this world. Once a person dies, his children start fighting among themselves for the inheritance. Everything ends in a fight…. You have to accept what I’m saying, which I have given as an advance warning. Aju. [Aju.] Good. You have to raise your representative and heir; nobody selects a representative who is worse than he is. There can be many representatives, but only the best of them can become the heir. If a person doesn’t live in such a way that you can say he’s better than your parents, you cannot hand things down to him. The universe was lost, so you cannot receive the holy blessing, giving you the right of inheritance and you cannot become representatives bearing collective responsibility without following me. Listen to reports of saints [from the spirit world], and you will see if I’m lying to you.
There is no time to lose. A fearful day of judgment will come if we fail to fulfill our calling—the responsibility and mission that Heaven has given us in this era after the coming of heaven. This is not a threat. Those among you who can communicate spiritually, try to pray about it to see if it’s just a threat. You never know when the day will come….
When we established Cheon Jeong Peace Palace, we also established a nation. We gave a name to the nation. We have a flag and an anthem. This is a formidable nation. Neither Russia, nor China, nor the U.S.—not even the spirit world—can dominate it, since I am in charge of it. Even God is watching it, so there is no way to live just as we please. I am not just boasting. I am a conscientious man. If we don’t reach completion, a fearsome judgment day will come….
You have no way to go now if you can’t become one. God’s original lineage is one. Can there be two lineages? A national tradition is one. Can there be two? Don’t ask. If we don’t complete this, a fearsome day of judgment will come.
During the Entrance Ceremony for Cheon Jeong Peace Palace and the Coronation Ceremony of the True Parents as the King and Queen of Peace in Heaven and on Earth, held on June 13 last year, I proclaimed the seven basic obligations and mission, based on the heavenly standard, for becoming a citizen of Cheon Il Guk. Please be victorious in fulfilling those basic obligations and mission. I have specified seven points that you are responsible for. This is not just idle talk, made in passing. The constitution of the heavenly kingdom has been established, so this is the most important original document for you to refer to. This is the original.
Leaders from around the world, please become true princes and princesses who live in attendance of God as your true parent, for He is the Peace King of the multitudes. Let us build the kingdom of the peaceful, ideal world of the sacred reign of peace by attending True Parents, who have been enthroned as the King and Queen of Peace in Heaven and on Earth in the realm of eternal liberation and freedom—where there is no need for the Savior, Messiah nor Lord at his second advent—and fulfill the dutiful way of a true, devoted child, a patriot, a saint, and a member of the family of God’s sons and daughters! [Applause] That’s the responsibility we are called to fulfill…. Be high spirited. Please become true princes and princesses who live in attendance of God as your true parent, for He is the peace king of the multitudes. Even if Republic of Korea is liberated, even if it is in the realm of eternal liberation and freedom—where there is no need for the Savior, Messiah or Lord at his second advent—its prisons are full. Fulfill the dutiful way of a true, devoted child, a patriot, a saint and a member of the family of God’s sons and daughters, attending True Parents, the king and queen of substantial, liberated heaven and earth in the liberated world. You must fulfill the dutiful way and establish the global kingdom of the ideal of peace in the sacred era of peace. That’s the answer.
Let us establish a model ideal family through which to bring the complete settlement of the ideal realm of liberation and complete inner freedom in heaven and on earth, and the peaceful kingdom of goodness in which we can enjoy a time of absolute, unique, unchanging and eternal peace and prosperity, and which can become the homeland of peace in heaven and on earth that can be eternally praised! [Applause] We have to establish the homeland at the price of any sacrifice. We have to build God’s nation, the homeland where He will be able to dwell. Those who don’t have any objection to that, raise your hands. May God’s blessings be upon your family, your nation and the world for all eternity! Thank you.
