Following the banquet celebrating the Blessing Ceremony for his grandchildren on August 28, 2006, Father spoke to the couples and assembled guests. The following is the translated transcript of his remarks, which have been edited for Today’s World.
Time has flown by on this important day. What time is it already? It’s half past two.
I’d like to talk about a few crucial points to do with this event. The Fall, on account of which God drove Adam and Eve out, meant that the family God desired was not formed. Neither the man nor the woman had understood that they were to become husband and wife by marrying the other, so they failed to prepare for that. The Fall was a road followed by the woman and the man at the end of which two people could not become one. In short, their wedding ceremony did not take place. Do you understand? Without holding a wedding ceremony, a family cannot be formed.
In a family there must be a four-position foundation, that is, the grandfather and grandmother, father and mother, and husband and wife. Only when there are four generations can the family bear fruit. That is how the four-position foundation works. This is the formation stage. The grandmother and grandfather are at the top, the mother and father in the middle, and then the individual and his marriage partner. Only on the foundation of a family with the three levels united as one can a fourth generation be born; only then can the seed of grandfather and grandmother, the seed of father and mother, and the seed of the third generation—the individual I’m speaking of and his marriage partner—all bear fruit in the fourth generation. These four generations all come together in one family, and that family could be yours. A grandfather’s love, a grandmother’s love, a mother and father’s love, and a husband and wife’s love all unite as one and bear fruit, which is the fruit of the bloodline.
The world does not realize how precious the bloodline is.. The sons and daughters who can receive the grandfather and grandmother’s love, the sons and daughters who can receive the mother and father’s love and the sons and daughters who can receive a husband or wife’s love make up the four generations of a family.
What is the fourth generation? It contains the seed of the grandfather and grandmother’s love, the seed of the mother and father’s love, and the seed of the husband and wife’s love. In other words, the fourth generation bears the fruit of the three preceding generations. So, if there is a family spanning four generations, they would all live together forever. Relatives to the sixth degree of consanguinity[1] would be included in the four generations. The first three generations include those to the fourth degree of consanguinity. The husband and wife would be one generation and the father and mother the generation above them; at the same time it would include to the third degree of consanguinity from them. Therefore the whole family, including uncles and cousins and even relatives further removed, should have all lived together in one house as one great family. This did not come to pass, however. That is why in order for a seed to exist, it needs to contain—in the generation of the mother and father—the grandfather and grandmother’s love, as well as the Old Testament Age, the formation stage; the New Testament Age, the growth stage; and the Completed Testament Age, the perfection stage.
Only on the foundation of family, whereon the three generations are in complete union and produce the seed, can the spirit world and physical world, the world in heaven, the world on earth and the family all live in peace. Otherwise, without a common seed, there can be no peace. Grandfathers and grandmothers fight, don’t they?
A grandmother even fights with herself, and a grandfather even fights within himself. God cannot stay where fighting is going on. Know this clearly, and remember it: Those who are engaged in fighting cannot bring God to dwell with them, or be with them, so they can neither establish the kingdom of heaven nor enter it.
Is that clear? The family of the kingdom of God cannot settle down amongst people and groups who fight. Raise your hands if you don’t understand. If you don’t understand this, you are nothing but scoundrels and should be rooted out. In this way, the love of the three generations—the grandfather and grandmother, father and mother, and one’s self—should be brought to fruition. Only then can they be connected to where God’s family is, and centering upon God, the lord of the fundamental love of all humanity, the bloodline can be connected from the grandfather to the father and mother, the third generation and the fourth generation. You should realize that God was never able to embrace His grandsons and granddaughters in His bosom and love them.
In this satanic world, everyone has grandsons and granddaughters don’t they? Well, do you have them, or don’t you? [We do.] That’s the problem. Everything is be broken down. Then what is the problem here? All because the bloodline was not connected. Repeat after me: 핏줄. [Pitjul.] What is it in Japanese? [血統] Getto. And in English it is “bloodline”. Those whose bloodlines were severed have nothing to do with heaven or the kingdom of God.[2] Wait until you die and see whether I’ve taught you what I don’t know. I am teaching you only what I clearly understand.
Then you realize that if your grandfather and grandmother fight in your family, God will leave, don’t you? This is the framework of the four-position foundation. They are united based on this center. From here springs every type of Eastern philosophy, no matter what it may be. You must know this. Now then, those who do not leave behind them a lineage in union with the realm of heart of the four-position foundation, based on three generations that have fulfilled the four-position foundation, will have no connection with the kingdom of heaven, and thus will not be able to become its citizens.
Christians say, “Believe and you will be saved.” That is so unreasonable….They should believe after they have learned what it would be like to be in the original position of perfection before the Fall, but here they are saying that if you believe, without giving any reason for it, you will be saved. And they claimed to be orthodox. They have opposed the Unification Church until now.
In the case where someone encourages a fight, it shows that God is not there. Do you understand? [Yes.] If you had not received the blessing today, in all likelihood you would not go to the kingdom of heaven. Why? What the Unification Church is doing in advocating that we should go to the kingdom of heaven is breaking down the barriers that cause the conflict between body and mind.
God cannot stay where a grandfather and grandmother are constantly fighting. Your grandmother’s body and mind are in conflict. Are they in conflict or not? Because you have now been enlightened about this fact, you should unite your mind and body and rectify the results of the battle between your grandfather and grandmother. From the time they married, grandfathers and grandmothers have been fighting. And yet they are serving the great grandparents centering on the grandfather; all are fighting with each other and the place is a battleground.
Godly families cannot stay in such a place. By this logic, it follows that the kingdom of heaven remains unoccupied. Do you understand?
Why do we need three generations at this point? From a perspective based on the three generations, at the time of Adam’s family they failed to begin the twelve tribes. Jacob began them later. Though Jacob tried to find the nation centering on the realm of the chosen people, the Israelites, he failed. Since the family was lost, the only way to recover it was by restoring the nation. With the nation lost, did Jesus ever have a family of his own? Did he? Why did he come to earth? Was he crazy? If he had formed a family, given birth to sons and daughters, the world would have developed into the kingdom of God. Did Jesus have sons and daughters? His bloodline did not continue.
Only those whose bloodline is connected to God can enter the kingdom of heaven through it. Without it, they can’t. There has not been a family, or nation that knew this and prepared accordingly. Unless the nation is united, it cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Hence, there is no nation as yet that can enter it. From now on, then, you should attach great importance to the Unification Church blessing, through which you are to stop and resolve the fight between body and mind. You must bear this in mind. Since the body, mind and the bloodline were defiled, and those that are connected to the bloodline of Satan cannot help but fight, you must cleanse yourselves to such an extent that such a tendency can never be found in you. Do you understand? [Yes.] Otherwise, no matter how good you are, you cannot go to the kingdom of heaven. If you ever set foot inside, I would beat you out of there.
We should go to the kingdom of heaven based on having a family that does not fight.
God cannot be the owner of heaven and earth if it is overflowing with conflicts. Peace and unity begin from within the individual. Men and women, with minds and bodies of their own, should become one in union through marriage. Even if they are united, if the sons and daughters they give birth to fight with them, that family could not be a family of the kingdom of heaven.
Centering on the tribe, the leader of the group, if the many families in this world fail to become one, they cannot be a part of the heavenly world. We need to clear the five stages of the individual era, family era, tribal era, national era, and racial era. This is all based on a logical interpretation, and when we form a nation on the basis of it, that nation would be one free from fights. Thus the kingdom of God would be established on earth. What would happen if we couldn’t establish the kingdom of God on earth? The heavenly world is like a storehouse for crops. Do you think we could go into it or not?
What is the first point? God cannot dwell where there are fights. Do you understand? Why? The family bloodline was changed. What was lost in Adam’s family was the bloodline, and between the brothers, Cain and Abel, the elder one was born with the fallen bloodline and knew that the younger one would bring back something that was lost, so he killed him. The path of history must be restored to God.
What comes next is the right of ownership. You all try to become wealthy and get on in the world, so you think it a great honor to become government officials and join political parties and fight others. Do you think God could dwell in such an atmosphere? All this wickedness would in the end be left without an owner. Its owner would no longer exist. Where is the owner of the individual, the owner of family, the owner of tribe, the owner of nation, the owner of the state? He is not there. He cannot be found in all of heaven and earth. Why? It is because the entire world is one big zone of fighting. To bring it together as one, in peace, and thus unite it into one with the start of the peaceful history of God, if one family turns out well, the realm of four generations from that family can be the heavenly seed, centering on the three-generations paying indemnity.
The first thing to be achieved is the restoration of the lineage. Second is the situation of Cain and Abel, because the history of the two was reversed. That is why religion and state have been in conflict; the state is on Cain’s side and religion on Abel’s side. It has been governments that have continued fight after fight, using blood as its tool throughout history. At this time, centering on cosmic peace and unification, the Unification Church has built Cheon Jeong Peace Palace here at Cheongpyeong, within Korea. It has its own constitution and laws.
What is this new nation? Who am I? Centering on this one nation, I am the Savior, the Messiah, who has appeared on earth to become the lord of peace and stop the conflict between body and mind, between husband and wife, between races, and between worlds. When the Israelites were elected the chosen people it was not intended that they fight with the Arabs. There cannot be peace where there is fighting. That is why it is this man, Rev. Moon, who has taken responsibility to focus on the Arab realm and taking responsibility for the fight between South and North Korea.
And when it comes to global problems, I have now personally taken the lead to bring global conflict to an end, centered on the Bering Strait. Do you understand? Rev. Moon is the savior for everyone. [Applause]
What comes next is the Messiah. After the two—the conversion of lineage and the conversion of the right of ownerships—are accomplished, people still do not know about the kingdom of God. It is the Unification Church, the church of unified religions, that teaches everything and informs everyone, from those in kindergarten up to PhDs, about the kingdom of God. That is why for freedom to be true freedom, there must be harmony. What would the use of freedom be when there is no harmony? Would someone who is alone need to be free? There must be harmony. Harmony cannot come about without unity. Only when all are united as one can there be such a thing called happiness. And only when there is happiness can complete settlement and liberation take place. This is all logical.
You should understand all this, that first comes the restoration of lineage, second, the relationship of Cain and Abel, and third the restoration of the right of ownership based on happiness. We should enter the original kingdom of the liberation of all nations on earth and in heaven, under the direct dominion of God, settle down there completely, and become the owners of the realm of liberation and complete freedom. This is the ultimate purpose behind performing this Blessing Ceremony, and of the era of settlement. Do you understand? This was what was behind the failure of the Old Testament Age and the New Testament Age, and the failure to form the twelve tribes in Adam’s family. That is why the twelve tribes were later formed at the time of Jacob.
Next, centering on the twelve tribes, 120 nations should have been established, but they were not. If Jesus had established the 120 nations, including the Roman Empire, a unified world would have been completed in Jesus’ lifetime. Since you put your burden down and left it unfulfilled, Adam’s era ended in failure and Jesus’ era ended in failure.
In the era of the Second Coming, the Catholics and the Protestants were in the position of Cain and Abel, and as soon as the Unification Church made its appearance, both groups tried to kill it. They struck at us for forty years, but we survived. What is the righteousness that can put all this to rights? When two people become one, uniting under a common purpose, they become the starting point of the kingdom of God. To understand this, we first need to understand three major issues, the first being that of the lineage and the second being that of Cain and Abel. All peoples and all nations in the world are brothers and sisters. People should have married interculturally, but it all went wrong. They should have formed two parallel lines, but instead, they crossed each other.
You were to have married between cultures and nations. All the points of intersection should be placed within a circle, and centering on one such point, the individual era should develop into that of the family and so forth, up to the eighth stage, so that earth and heaven could be at right angles to each other and could revolve. If they are separate, the kingdom of heaven cannot be established.
You should realize that we are setting out on this day to construct the ideal foundation on which all I have related can come about, and receive the blessing. Without receiving the blessing, there is no way to engraft wild olive trees, such that they may bear the fruit of true olive trees. There is no way to connect the bloodline. Do you understand?
Among the relatives here, is there anyone who opposes the Unification Church? Is there anyone from God down to the fathers and mothers, the husbands and wives, and down to your peers who opposes the Unification Church? You should collect all who are opposed to our church, give them a kick and bring them to receive the blessing. Is that clear? [Yes.] If it is clear, from now on, you are in the position of the younger sibling of the Lord at his Second Coming who have received the blessing in the position of a younger sibling of True Parents, and thus have inherited the bloodline. So become engrafted as quickly as possible.
Wait and see what happens to people who have served as national presidents. They are not the owners. The eight great Korean government regimes did all they could to eliminate me, but all they only helped to make me famous worldwide, since it was clear that I was working for Korea and the liberation of all nations. In such an age, and with the new supremacy of three generations, I am going to have everyone take part, and bequeath all this to all of you. True Parents have paid all the indemnity. It could not have been done by the three generations touring 180 nations of the world for a year.
What did I do wrong? I am an intelligent man, and I know all there is to know about religion and philosophy. Why then should I have to work while walking down this path of grim suffering? It is not because I am a fool. Since the saints and patriots of heaven and earth hold the key to the secret of liberation and complete freedom, this is the time to take the first step in distributing this secret to all the Korean people. Raise your hands if you don’t want to be a part of this. Anyone who would raise his or her hand is an enemy of mine.
The legalistic era will soon be upon us. Nothing could be done if you were implicated by national laws, could it? Similarly, there was nothing you could do if you were implicated by the teachings of the Unification Church, could you? Even I could do nothing about it.
If I claimed that I was liberated and in possession of the key to a secret storeroom, and yet wanted to keep it all to myself and not pass it along to anyone, wouldn’t that be a pack of lies? So, you should realize that even in your imagination, you cannot say that the past has all been lies; you should make a new resolution and become families, clans and nations that can make the move to a new heaven and earth.
Farewell, thank you for being here today, and I bequeath to you this blessing. [Amen.]
[1] In Korea the closeness of blood ties are denoted by a number that expresses the number of steps between two people related by blood. For example, a first cousin is called a 4-chon because the link is you, your parent, your parent’s brother or sister and their son or daughter (your cousin), four people in the chain.
[2] “Their bloodline was severed” is common Korean parlance referring to childless couples or those whose children failed to produce grandchildren. When used by Father it likely includes those whose children or grandchildren all rejected the blessing.
