Excerpts from Lynne Kim’s simultaneous interpretation of Father’s speech on June 15, 1999 in Sutaek-Ri, Korea
The time has come when you should be speaking Korean. The spirit world is the world of heart and we will communicate there by feeling. Even so, when we do speak, the language there will be Korean. How difficult can Korean be? It is difficult, but if you came and lived in Korea for three years and worked on a farm or in the fields, you would begin to be able to speak it. Right now there is really no way to do that, so we need to set up a training course here in which you can work and learn Korean at the same time.
It is here in Korea that we should be making a new tradition for heaven and for the heavenly nation. You need to become ambassadors of the heavenly nation or your nation’s ambassador in heaven.
Should we talk about heaven or about earth in this meeting? We have to talk about heaven first. The earth is not the important thing. We have to go to our original home which is heaven in the spirit world. This earth is nothing but a place of preparation or training ground for heaven. You do not need to leave anything on earth other than your preparation to go to heaven. You must train yourselves to be excellent people here on earth. You need to receive individual level and family level training. So far, we have provided individual training through church life and family training in Jardim. Now we have to go into lineage training for the lineage or clan. But the situation on earth is often that when there are three people together they start fighting. We need to set up a training center where even if we have hundreds of people together, with all their children, no one fights. We have to be able to train groups of people who can stay together without conflict.
All of you seven hundred people here today are each thinking in your own way. Your languages and customs are different. Then how can you possibly unite as one? If you are to go to heaven you need to receive immediate training here on how to become one. You have to able to unite up to seven generations. You must not fight. You must not fight over your possessions. If you do, you are like a traitor to heaven. You have to get rid of all your old habits and think about the way of the future. The most difficult thing is that you all have different customs, different countries and different languages and cannot establish one standard. But we must establish the standard for our eternal homeland. We have to prepare all that we need to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It is common sense that this is what we need to do while we are here on earth. Do you understand?
We are heading toward our eternal homeland. It is the eternal world. We have to know its laws. Men and women are living there: grandfathers, grandmothers and grandchildren are all living there together. You have to become one; you will live there together with your lineage.
Yesterday when we finished the meeting I was tired due to the time change and we had already had other meetings as well as the main meeting, and my mind went up to the very point of heaven. By the time I got home it was 4:20, then from 5:00 I slept. I always sleep just two hours and wake up at once, but because of the time change I was so very tired. People had come and were waiting there to report to me. Then when I did get up I felt ashamed, like a new bride who has overslept in her new home. Many of those who had been waiting had left. People had come to report to me yet had to go home without meeting me. That is not right. Were the people who left wrong or was I wrong? We need to know this. If we are doing wrong and not knowing it, we become like Satan. Who was wrong? I was wrong and I ask for your forgiveness.
To anyone who had not left, I gave signatures and a photograph. Yesterday I presented Mother with a beautiful plaque and we received a beautiful globe on top of a tortoise as a gift. We also received another wonderful plaque. We placed all of these on a table and took pictures with those who had stayed, and they were happy. Yesterday, there was True Parents’ Declaration of Cosmic Victory. Those who received that picture should write down what happened on that day, frame the picture and keep it as something precious for their descendants. It is really a wonderful condition for them.
You have to think about what you have done and what you are leaving behind. Some of you do not even know how to be ashamed when you have done something wrong. When you have done something wrong you just have to say, “I’m sorry. I was wrong.” If you cannot be frank, then what communication do we have? After doing something wrong, how can you come and say you have done well? We have to be honest.
People who feel they want to advance in the church, raise your hands… So the rest of you are all people who do not want to advance? You are afraid. You think if you raise your hands lightning may strike you, so you are just, as it were, watching the atmosphere here, isn’t that right? No? What do you mean? You have to be honest! The main point is you have to be honest. Every day you have to reflect, “What did I do wrong?” You have to meditate on that and if you have done something wrong you have to know how to repent with tears. You have to clean yourself out every day and live clearly. Then even if you live with heavenly destiny for a thousand years you have to not be ashamed. You have to be honest and frank. I dislike it if someone tries to avoid telling the truth by mumbling.
When we do Hoon Dok Hae it should be for at least one hour. Maybe if you do not read all twelve books you will need to do a 7-day fast or 40-day fast. You have to take those words and fulfill them, and then things work out. But people do not listen. If you read the Hoon Dok Hae books you will see that what I spoke about in the fifties is all being realized now. Then you will have a better perspective of the kind of work I have been doing in the providence. In the beginning when I started I was trying to accomplish what we are accomplishing now. You will see that everything is working out now as I predicted. All those prayers were slowly, slowly, slowly unraveling the problems of history. Now when I look back at them I say, “Oh, I prayed those kinds of prayers in that day. All those years of history were being concentrated in that prayer. That is really amazing.” I feel this even as I read them. Have you felt this?
You have to think about the hometown, the original place of your teacher. This means the place Father was born. If you do not know your father, can you find your hometown? If you do not know your hometown can you know Father? You need to know me. If you do not know me, you do not know your hometown. No matter how well you are doing or living, no matter how rich you may be, if you do not know the background of your father and what you should inherit from him, if you do not know your father’s love, if you do not know how he grew up, how he grew old having left his hometown and how much he wants to return there, and if you cannot long for that knowledge as your father’s descendants, it cannot be passed on to your children and your descendants. You have to go to the hometown of your parents.
Who is your father? Who is the father of the Unification Church? Someone who has been insulted, rejected and imprisoned, someone whom people hoped would die. That kind of person is the father of the Unification Church. Is it true or not? Do you like him or not? Why did he become a father like that? You have to understand this. Why would your father receive such opposition? Why is he going in a direction 180 degrees opposite that of the world? Is he a bad father? The world thinks he is a really horrible father, so you need to know whether he is bad or good. To know who the father is you have to know who the grandfather is. And who is the grandfather? He is God. If the father is a bad father, then you should not be following him. If the father is good, then you have to know what his tradition is and follow him absolutely. You really have to find out. If you find out that he is truly absolute and right, then through knowing the reality you have to have the capacity of judgment. Only in that way can the new heaven and earth that God is hoping for come about. Only then can whatever the father has been through and whatever insults he has received be completely resolved.
If you have ever been in prison or been sent out into difficulties, you know the path of your Father. Then when you turn back, you realize what you have done wrong, and go forward with clarity. You must become pure and clean. You must start each day and each year anew. If you do not resolve everything here you will break the ladder that takes you to heaven and that your descendants can use to climb up to heaven. If you do not follow Father there is nothing else for you to do. We must understand the spirit world. You have to research it. You must be able to live comfortably there. It is quite easy to be cast out if you do not know what you are doing.
You have to put down roots to make true families. You have to unify the subject spiritual world with the object physical world and actively develop their unity. We have to determine this and be strong about it. We have to make heavenly laws that can endure for thousands of generations and create a realm of peace. You have to think that you will do it, not just wait for it to be done.
You must become qualified in your hometown, knowing ten to one hundred generations of its history. If wrongs were done, they must be restored through indemnity. It requires understanding, being able to take responsibility, and inheriting from Father. Not making new mistakes, start a new dispensation and a new age. Because you have been able to think like this, the Unification Church could go forward and develop. You should know that clearly! To go to hometown you must know the history and works of the parent. If you do not do Hoon Dok Hae, you cannot know these things. If you do Hoon Dok Hae you can come to understand this history and the things I consider important, as well as my predictions. The seeds of future history are all contained therein.
You are in an awesome and solemn position. Separating from Father is like becoming a child of Satan. We have to make a new beginning. I am warning you: if you do not know the father, how can you follow the grandfather’s tradition? You must know how to live and set the tradition for one thousand, even ten thousand years. You must know that we have the gospel. The question of to whom I am going to give my message and mission is an important one. Be busy and work for the spirit world. You must be clear who you are. Write your name, as it were, on your place so your ancestors know where to come. Establish your position. You have to establish the place where your ancestors can come and rejoice with you. You must be sincere and serious.
It is a serious matter to try to understand my words. My life has been like wringing out a cloth. You have been doing whatever you thought was right. As my sons and daughters, I have given you the words that came so seriously from heaven. You need to respect that. It is Heaven’s law that these words come through the parents to the children. Yet, if you are not going to listen, I cannot teach you.
Satan will now return to his original position and make restitution. When I reach the point that I no longer need my body to do my work, I will give up my body. I have gone the way of training. I have paved the way to heaven and have pioneered the way of hometown. You must have absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience, which is the absolute law and morality. You must be people who qualify as true parents, true father and true mother. You cannot live randomly as you wish. We have to learn the way of sacrifice and service. Even if we would have to scrape away our bones we have to be willing to live for the way of God.
You must proclaim tribal messiahship. This is an important matter. Centering on God’s love, we have to have a declaration ceremony. We need national messiahs and tribal messiahs to establish the vertical connection. (To the national messiahs:) I have established the conditions for you; they are in place. God has asked you to become true parents on a national level, and to go forward. We must walk over the dominion of Satan and go forward. Do you understand? This is the final battle. I have told you what has to be done; you have no excuse. I know God, and you must know God.
Eighty percent of disease is caused by the fall of Lucifer. Doctors really have to understand about this causal aspect of disease. The relationship between God and the spiritual and physical worlds is so amazing. You must pray to God. Pray 100 or 200 percent beforehand so God can work. You must break through the realm Satan is blocking. You cannot rest.
In Chung Pyung, Dae Mo Nim tells you about all the evil spirits that have been going into your body and affecting you. This is real. There are so many evil spirits in and around you trying to destroy you, like a cloud over you. They are trying to block you from living well. You have to want to pray more than you want to eat when you are hungry. When you are really tired and want to sleep, then you have to pray more. You have to pray more than you want to make love with your husband or wife. You have to go beyond all those levels. You have to overcome sleep, eating, and the relationship between man and woman. You have to be able to pray more earnestly than you do these three things.
Why do we need True Parents? Do True Parents have any relationship with Satan? You have a relationship with Satan, but True Parents have gone beyond Lucifer. So you have to go the way to life. It is in your bloodstream, your heartbeat, your heart, your blood lineage—all this is related, and you have to separate that blood lineage from Satan and bring it back to God. You have to really make it true. Do you understand?
Now we have to go back into the realm of the power of the original creation. We have to be able to move heaven and earth, and our diseases will be removed. We have to realize the blood lineage of God. You all have traces still of the satanic blood lineage within you, so you need to be purified. You may have tried to get rid of it, but it still hangs on. You have to go beyond that level. You must live within the lineage of God, True Parents and a true humankind and have absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience. Then you can go over that barrier. You have to live life experiencing your parents’ life and be able to claim: “I have received the lineage of my parents.” Do you understand? You are really much more on Lucifer’s side than on God’s side. You just want to do what you like and what your friends like. All of Satan’s legions are trying to keep you from being on God’s side and to kick and pull you away from it. At such times, you need to have absolute faith and love.
When you are ill, when you are being attacked by Satan, and you have sinned, then that illness could be indemnity. Take it as such and overcome it. If you are tired and do not sleep, then you become more tired, but you cannot let Satan endanger you. If you follow Satan, you cannot receive anything. Your flesh and blood all belong to your Father, God, but you do so much in your lives that is opposite to what God wants. Then you get attacked and taken over.
There is a relationship between the physical and spiritual worlds. Do you really understand it? I had a skin growth but healed it with moxybustion and acupuncture. Did you national messiahs learn about moxybustion? I advised you to do that. If you can heal people you can make a living and solve your financial problems. I supported you in this, but did you do it? Try it, it works.
Satan is working against you all the time. If you have a disease you have to be grateful to God, and then Satan will have to leave you. If you sacrifice and serve, Satan leaves you.
You have to practice what you are hearing and claim it. You must be alert to what is going on. How many people have gone to the spirit world and come back and told us the truth? We have to understand about the future. It is so much better if you can go to the spirit world knowing what it is like, taking that faith with you. Until now people have feared death. We do not have to live in fear. Now we can get rid of that fear of death and prepare ourselves for life in the spirit world. We are living in that reality now. Aren’t we fortunate people that we can go beyond the fear of death?
You must understand this completely. You must move into the world of your heart, and you must prepare to live in the world of heart. Think how it will be if you can go to the spirit world and it is no different for you because you have been living that way already. God and True Parents are hoping that all people will become filial sons and daughters to God. Because you are not at that level, you are worried. Dr. Lee is also concerned. You must be grateful to him. He really understands the spiritual world well, so please read about it over and over in Hoon Dok Hae and put it into practice in your life.
We need to return to nature. We need to love the grass, the bees and the animals—all these things are what God made for us. You must make the condition of loving and raising plants, watching them grow. You have to learn that kind of love. There are so many things we can learn from nature in this way. When we plant seeds they grow and we harvest the crop. It is like raising children.
[Father assigns certain elder members as ‘grandparents’ to various nations. To these elders, he says:] I will pray; we will see which of you goes where. Hold Hoon Dok Hae gatherings. Spread the tradition of True Parents to those nations.
Clean up your physical life on earth. Recognize the importance of this centering on the spirit world. We have to live together, experiencing community life and brotherhood. We have to expand our life experience. We must push ourselves to do the mission of the 400 million.
