Father’s speech was given on August 1, 1996, in Washington Sheraton Hotel, Washington, DC.
As you know, I am Reverend Moon, in person. We all have been so inspired by the musical entertainment which we just enjoyed that we are £lying on the clouds and don’t know when we might fall. So, therefore, let us hold on tight as we come down to the ground.
It is almost 10:00 and it is getting late. Originally I was thinking about writing my speech, but I realized that such a speech would last at least three hours; therefore, I came without my written speech. However, I want to get your permission for either a one-hour speech or a two-hour speech. What about 30 minutes? At the same time, you must realize that there will not be many opportunities to hear Reverend Moon.
What do you prefer tonight: a message that explodes like an atom bomb or something pleasing which can make you laugh? If you want an explosive message, you may all disappear! Well, let us try.
THE FIRST CAUSE
In our world there are only two different kinds of humans: man and woman. Can we change a man into a woman or a woman into a man? Were you born as a man because you wanted to be a man? What about you women? Well, we didn’t even know that we would be born. We didn’t even think about it. Without knowing our cause or process or purpose, we were born as a man or as a woman.
No matter how great or famous you may be, you are the result, not the cause. We may call ourselves the second cause, but not the first cause. If that is the case, there must be a first cause. Who do you think is the first cause, a man or a woman? Are we certain that there should be a first cause? You may call that the first cause God, a storm, or a tree, but no matter what name you may put on that first cause, we all agree that there should be a first cause.
Many of you are from all over the world; you are famous and well known. Therefore, some of you may wonder where God is. If someone shows you God, then you will believe in God. However, please take my advice and don’t go that far.
PLUS/MINUS RELATIONSHIPS
Tonight my topic is in searching for the origin. If we keep searching deeper and deeper to our root, our origin must be one. However, since men and women each with their unique characters came from that origin, it should have the character of oath men and women.
Then what do you think is the origin of the universe? Even though we don’t see God, one thing we can be sure is that the entire universe consists of plus/minus or subject/ object relationships. There is male and female. Even in the mineral kingdom, there are plus and minus ions. In the plant kingdom we see stamens and pistils, and in the animal kingdom there are male and female animals. Even when it comes to humankind, there are men and women.
Furthermore, there is a certain formula by which the higher beings absorb the lower beings. For example, animals and plants exist for the sake of humankind. The mineral kingdom exists for the sake of the plant kingdom, animal kingdom and human kingdom. In other words, all of existence besides humankind exists for the sake of people. Man is the lord of creation.
Reciprocal relationships exist because of the power of love. In the mineral kingdom, love’s power may be lower than in human beings, but there is a love which sustains the reciprocal relationships between plus and minus. In the plant kingdom, stamen and pistil work as plus and minus in a reciprocal relationship based on the power of love. Modern technology has found plus germs and minus germs. If plus germs and minus germs have to unite, what should be the focus of their unity? Kissing? Embracing? The central force to make them one is love. Love is not concept; love is a reality. Where can love settle down? Can anybody answer? Well, you are right: centering on the family. Your family has to be settled.
During the past three days, you have heard from former president Ford, former president Bush, and many other dignitaries. Even these famous entertainers tonight praised the theme of the Family Federation for World Peace.
OWNERSHIP OF THE SEXUAL ORGAN
Let me ask you what distinguishes a man from a woman? What is the unique part of yourself that distinguishes you as a man or as a woman? The sexual organ. I have heard an amazing thing. Does anybody like the sexual organ? Is there anybody who doesn’t like it? So what is your position? Do you like it or dislike it? How much do you like it? Well, you may say that you didn’t like the sexual organ up until now, but from tonight on you are determined to like it, because our future depends on how much we like it. That is not a joke.
When God created humankind, what part of ourselves did God consider first? Our eyes? Our ears? Our heart? Our sexual organ? (Sexual organ) If we had only a brain, humankind would have become extinct a long time ago. This is the truth. Is there anyone who disagrees with me on that point? That means you all admit it.
Well we are here to inaugurate the Family Federation for World Peace. However, think about the time when you were united through a sexual organ. There is an absolute standard of sex through which God can join in and rejoice together with us. Well, we are created as men and women with unique organs. Does a man’s organ belong to himself or to a woman? What about a woman’s organ? Does it belong only to herself or to a man? Other parts of your body may belong to you, but a man’s sexual organ belongs to his wife; it’s owner is a woman. The owner of a woman’s sexual organ is a man. This is a simple truth that no one can deny.
No matter how many tens of billions of years history may continue, this truth will never change. The world is decaying and going down the drain because men think that their sexual organ belongs only to themselves and women think that their sexual organ belongs only to themselves.
We all say love is eternal, unchanging, and unique. That is also God’s character. If people had known that the real owner of their sexual organ is their true spouse, the world would have been in a totally different shape by now. There are millions and millions of Ph.D.’s and scholars all over the world, yet none of you has thought about this.
Can anyone deny this fact? If we trace back to our ancestors and even to God, they will all give the same answer. Do you agree? Anybody who doesn’t agree has something wrong up here; they are crazy. Since this is the absolute formula given by God from the beginning of human history, when we reach the spirit world and stand in front of God, our destiny will be determined based on this formula.
UNIVERSAL FORMULA OF LOVE
Adam and Eve fell because they didn’t understand the ownership of their sexual organs. Well you all heard Mrs. Moon’s speech, that the fall of Adam and Eve was not caused by eating real fruit but by their illicit sexual relationship. God is love. If His children ate an actual fruit, God would not have kicked them out of the Garden of Eden. Because they went against this universal formula of love God kicked them out of the Garden of Eden. All existence from minerals, plants, animals and all the way up to human beings exist as subject and object; partners always possess their sexual organs for the sake of the other partner. Love is the ultimate purpose for possessing sexual organs. Love is at the end of the tunnel of our sexual organ. Love is why the entire world exists with male and female characteristics.
We all say God’s attribute is absolute, unchanging, unique and eternal. Who is the owner of love? Not man, not woman. God is the owner of love. God is one, not two. Love is the only mediator which can unite God and humankind, because God also needs love. Through love God and humankind can meet.
God needs absolute love. What about us? Do you absolutely need love? Since God needs absolute, unique, eternal and unchanging love, we as children of God also need absolute, unique, unchanging, eternal love. Since God has dual characteristics of plus and minus, He created humankind as a manifestation of His dual characteristics. God wanted to see man and woman complete the vertical relationship with Him centering on the complete horizontal love relationship between man and woman.
Because people have to deal with horizontal space, this physical world, we wear this physical body. However, we all have a conscience, which deals with the vertical God. Our axis is vertical, because God’s absolute love always travels through the vertical axis, not through a horizontal relationship. Therefore, the point at which man and woman meet in a horizontal love relationship is the same point at which they meet God. That point is to be created when as adult man and woman they become one through marriage. They can meet God through establishing this vertical axis. This is the same point where we can find happiness, freedom and unification.
Only centered on this absolute love can God and His object of absolute love be happy. This is the central point where God and man, husband and wife, brother and brother, sister and sister meet. This axis is the central point which can create spherical movement.
According to oriental tradition, the point of intersection of true love unites parents and children, husband and wife, brothers and brothers, and sisters and sisters. The relationship between God and humankind is that of parents and children centering on true love.
THE POWER OF LOVE
How big is human desire or ambition? Is your ambition greater than God’s ambition? Well, your ambition may be smaller than God’s, but even the shabbiest-looking person can have greater ambition than anybody else in the world, don’t you agree?
Suppose you are the blood son of God: when you are really loved by God you can call Him with your pinkie and He will follow you. By the same token, your wife may be very small and ugly, but if you truly love your wife, when she calls you with her pinkie, don’t you want to go wherever she goes?
What I am saying is that God loves me, but can you see that? How can you prove it? Well you say the entire world loves Reverend Moon, but I am talking about God’s love. The proper order of love is God, father, mother, and children.
You dignified looking gentlemen, do you possess love within yourself? What about life? Do you have life? What about lineage? What about conscience? Do you all have a conscience? Have you seen love? What about life or lineage? What about conscience? Have you touched them? They all exist, yet you cannot touch them or see them. Only through our mind can we recognize them and feel them. What about the existence of God? Have you seen God? Have you touched God? No. Yet, we cannot deny God’s existence.
What is more precious and important, the visible things or the invisible things? Invisible things. Ordinarily people consider visible things, such as money or power, to be more precious. We can touch and use visible things. Yet, we cannot see or touch our love, life, lineage and conscience. We all have them. Yet, why can’t we feel them all the time? Because they are totally one with us. There is no separation between ourselves and those elements.
WE DO NOT NOTICE WHAT IS PART OF US
In your daily life, do you realize how many times your eyes blink? If you count how many times your eyes blink for three days, you will become faint. Do you always count how many times you breathe? Lift your right arm and put your right hand over the left part of your chest. What do you feel? Do you hear something like the big ship’s horn blowing? How many times do you hear your heart beat in a day? Sometimes when we are totally busy we forget about it for months or even a year. But why don’t you borrow a stethoscope from a medical doctor and put it right on top of your heart and try to hear how noisy it is? It is like an explosion.
Even when a small fly bites our forehead, we immediately feel the difference and try to kill it or chase it way. If someone pulls one strand of your hair you feel pain. Yet when an explosion this size constantly takes place in our body, why can’t we feel it all the time? Because it is totally one with us.
You have to excuse me for this kind of explanation, but this is more vivid and realistic, so I want to use this example. Every morning, don’t you go to your bathroom and sit on the toilet? When you do number two, do you wear a mask? This is a serious matter; don’t just laugh. Well, if someone else does it right in your bathroom, you might hold your nose and run out of the bathroom, but when you are doing it you don’t smell it; you can even read the newspaper there. Why can’t you feel difference? Because it is totally one with your body.
When we were young children, at some point we picked our nose, rolled it into a ball, and tasted it. Was it sweet or salty? You say salty, so that means you tried it. And why didn’t we real dirty? Because that was part of our body. No one in human history revealed this kind of secret which I am now giving you. I may be able to go into deeper explanations of this kind of relationship, yet we already spent 30 minutes and time is running out.
You distinguished presidents and guests, when you have a cold and cough, you feel some kind of sputum: do you always spit it out or sometimes you swallow it? Why doesn’t it feel dirty even if you swallow it? Because that is part of you.
Ordinarily we all eat three meals a day, but after each meal, about a foot below our mouth, where our food enters, a fertilizer factory is in operation. To eat a meal means to provide raw material for this fertilizer factory. If you think deeply about how you are providing resources for this fertilizer factory, do you feel like continuing to eat? If you truly look at your stomach as a fertilizer factory, does it feel good to put food into your mouth to feed your factory? Why don’t we feel like that, even though that is a reality, in a way? Do you understand?
WE NEED AN OBJECT OF LOVE
Even if we have life, love, lineage and conscience, we cannot feel them when we are by ourselves. By the same token even though God has life, love, lineage and conscience, God cannot feel them by Himself because they are totally one with Him. That is why in order to feel love, life, lineage and conscience, even God needs His object of love. By the same token a man cannot feel life, love, lineage and conscience by himself. However, as soon as his love object appears, a beautiful woman, all of four elements start functioning right away; it’s like being pulled like a magnet. Isn’t it true?
People didn’t know that even God absolutely needs His love object. Then who do you think is in the position of God’s love object? If the monkey is our ancestor you might call man the descendant of a monkey. However, the monkey cannot be the cause.
There are thousands of different doors of love beyond the amoeba level. Can an amoeba travel along through all these different stages to reach the human level by itself? Nothing in existence can change species. Each has its own species. Suppose you join a hairy man with a female monkey and have them live together for a hundred years, do you think they will produce something? No.
God has dual characteristics of male and female; however, in order to be in the position of father God, God’s male characteristics are in the position of subject. Therefore, what kind of partner or object do you think God needs? A hand partner? A foot partner? A head partner? Don’t you think God needs a love partner? Who or what in all of creation can be in the position of God’s love partner? Man? Woman? God dwells in the place where man’s love and woman’s love meet and become harmonized. Because love is absolute, only when man and woman experience absolute love can God come down.
Horizontally, man is in the position of plus and woman in the position of minus. Within God are the dual characteristics of plus and minus; therefore, when these horizontal plus and minus become totally one, they form a larger minus in relationship to God, and God as the plus subject being comes down and becomes one with this couple as His minus object.
Why is our marriage important? Because through our marriage we experience love. We learn love. We find our life there. Through marriage man’s life and woman’s life become one. Through marriage your lineage is formed. Through marriage you as individuals form a family and connect with your nation and your world. Therefore, it is a universal formula that parents and children, husband and wife, brothers and brothers, and sisters and sister unite as one family and enable God to come down to your family level and dwell there. Then when you all pass into the spirit world, you will dwell with God in the Kingdom of God in heaven.
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FAMILY
However, because there is no absolute love-centered unity in your family, in your society, in your nation in your world, the Kingdom of God in heaven is still vacant. All the people who have passed away ended up in hell. Before passing away Jesus talked about going to paradise. You cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven as an individual. The prerequisite is your family, an absolutely united family. Only that will qualify you to enter the kingdom of God.
Even Jesus Christ was no exception to this formula, because Jesus Christ was supposed to build an absolute family and enter the Kingdom of God as a family. But he could not. That is why the Bible says, “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” In other words, we all have to solve whatever problems we may have in this physical world.
Because of the fall, human beings all live below the level of the fall. Therefore, we must penetrate that dividing line and enter the new realm. It may be almost impossible to penetrate this barrier, to enter another realm; that is why the Bible says, “Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever is willing to lose his life for my sake will find it.” We are living in a world of fallen families, fallen societies, and fallen nations. That is why wars and battles are rampant.
WHO HAS THE TRUTH?
Adam’s family was turned upside down. Were Adam and Eve kicked out of the Garden of Eden after they produced children or before? Did God chase Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden or He chased them out with their children? If you do not know even that simple fact, how can you claim to be Christians who are preparing to enter into the kingdom? Ignorance is not acceptable.
I must warn you to be alert. If you don’t believe what I am saying, go back to your house tonight and pray about it. You have no idea how much suffering and difficulty I have endured to find this truth.
Well you may call me a six-time convict. Ordinarily people run away from a six-time convict. Because I have been working hard to change people from wrong side to right side all throughout my life, people labeled me a brainwasher. That is why I was incarcerated so many times. Communists always felt that my teaching was superior to their teaching; that is why they mobilized their forces to destroy my movement. Christians thought my teaching was different from what they had been teaching, so they labeled the Unification Church heretical. However, who is the heretic and who has the truth? No one knows. Maybe what Satan like most is what God likes least, and what Satan likes least is what God likes most.
The entire world dislikes me and has been persecuting me; even some of you dignitaries here didn’t like me before, did you? However, when you came to this conference, didn’t you investigate and do you own homework to find out what I am about and what I have been doing?
Well Washington Post still criticizes my work and says negative things; that is because the Washington Post doesn’t understand me. If the Washington Post truly understood what I am about, they wouldn’t dare oppose my work.
After the demise of communism in the Soviet Union and its former satellite countries, textbooks based on my teachings are being used by students in junior high schools, high schools and even colleges, because they need a new ideology to fill the gap.
Former communist countries feel an urgent need to somehow stop western influences such as free sex, homosexuality, lesbianism and drug addiction. All these social disorders are flooding into the former Soviet Union. Therefore, they welcome my teachings.
Do you all like God or dislike God? Go home tonight and ask God whom He prefers: Reverend Moon or all the Christian leaders of the world? We are teaching different things. Reverend Robert Schuller came the other day; his teaching and mine teaching are totally different. What do you think I will gain by disclosing all the hidden stories surrounding holy mother Mary and Jesus Christ and John the Baptist?
Well, because of such disclosures, people may persecute me; however, unless we reveal this truth to people in this physical world, Holy Mary, Jesus Christ and John the Baptist will remain confined in the spiritual world.
I have a simple question: do you think Jesus Christ was supposed to marry? Was Jesus a man or woman? Suppose Jesus Christ had found a holy woman, don’t you think Jesus Christ would have wanted to marry her?
THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE FALL
Well, to begin with, God created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and blessed them with distinctly different sexual organs. When they grew up, don’t you think God expected them to get married? Because of the fall, the love lineage was stained, that is why they got kicked out of the Garden of Eden. By consummating marriage unfallen Adam and Eve would have become the body of God as male figure and female figure. However because of their fall, that ideal of God failed. That is why God kicked them out of the Garden.
Adam and Eve thought they were the best, but they stole someone else’s property. That became the origin of the extreme individualism we see in the world now. Here in America people openly advocate privacy, extreme individualism and free sex. Do you think God loves to see it? We can interpret individualism as a self-centered way of life. People who don’t care about their family don’t care about their nation and their world; they live like hippies and yuppies. When they cannot overcome difficulties, they simply finish their life.
Originally we were created to give and receive love. This give and take relationship should take place with God and all of the rest of the creation. However, when extreme individualists reach the end of the road, they finish their lives there.
People reap what they sow. That is the truth. In the Garden of Eden, what kind of seed did Adam and Eve plant? The seed of free sex. That is why, right after they committed sin, they covered their lower parts. When a little child takes a cookie out of the cookie jar and you happened to spot it, what does your little child do? Usually they hide their hands with their cookie behind their back. That is a natural reaction when people make some mistake: they want to hide what they used to make the mistake.
If Adam and Eve truly had eaten fruit, why didn’t they cover their mouth or their hand? We must understand that the fall was caused by an illicit love relationship. To save and restore Adam and Eve, we have to go 180 degrees opposite to the direction of the fall. In other words, Adam and Eve fell into hell so in order to bring them out of hell and save them, we have to turn them around 180 degrees in the opposite direction. Because of their fallen lineage they all went to hell.
THE MESSIAH SAVES HUMANKIND
Humankind needs the Messiah. The Messiah comes as the True Man who can establish the sinless family just like Adam I and Eve were supposed to establish in the Garden of Eden for all humankind. Once the Messiah’s family is established, all human beings can be engrafted into it and we can build a society, nation .and world.
It is a big problem to find someone who can save people out of this world of death. The Old Testament era was based on the rule of an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth Isaac’s wife, Rebecca, helped her second son Jacob to cheat Esau and her husband; yet God worked through them. Do you think it was fair for God to do that? What kind of a God would do that?
No one could answer that, but I revealed the truth behind the story, because I know the secrets of the satanic world and the other worlds too. Where is the dividing line between heaven and hell? Up in the sky? It is your sexual organ, because that organ turns the entire world. Can anybody deny it?
If you study my teaching, the Divine Principle, you cannot deny it. If you still have doubts, pray to God for an answer. Without finding out the truth from God, no one has the right to deny my teachings.
If you still doubt my teaching, why not go home, commit suicide, and go to the spirit world and find out if my teaching is right or wrong? That doesn’t mean you should do that!
In order to come up with this truth and reveal it, I had to put out my neck so many times in my life. Hundreds of times I have made God cry. No one throughout history has known God better than I do. That is why it has become a problem. No matter what the world may do to me, I will never perish, because God always protects me. Once you step inside of the boundary of my teaching, then you will be protected too. Therefore, the determining point of whether you go to heaven or hell is how you use your sexual organ. If you follow God’s true love line and use your sexual organ properly you are bound to go to heaven; however, if you go the other way, you will go to hell.
The morality of young people has declined. While Adam and Eve were growing up as teenagers, they misused their sexual organs. Following the law of cause and effect, in the last days we see the problem of immorality among the youth; they engage in free sex and these problems multiply throughout the world.
SATAN PROMOTES FREE SEX
Satan knows God’s strategy and my strategy, which is to I bring all of those people back to God’s bosom. Therefore, Satan wants to stop me from doing so. He has raised the banner of free sex, homosexuality, and all kinds of corrupt phenomena because he wants to destroy this world. Since Satan took control of the first ancestors of humankind and that influence has been coming down through the blood lineage, when Satan stands in front of God and claims the right to do whatever he wishes with all humankind since they are his children, God will say “Yes, you go and do whatever you want; then I will take my tum and do things my way.”
Satan openly claims that his strategy is to pull all humanity away from by corrupting them and give them a chance to have free sex ; in other words, he is creating hell right here in this world. God knows Satan’s strategy. To save this hellish world, we have to tum it 180 degrees in a different direction, following the Lord of the Second Advent.
God cannot deal directly with Satan, who created hell on earth and destroyed this entire world. God cannot reverse the course by Himself. Only True Parents, who come as God’s son and God’s representative, can reverse this trend 180 degrees and change the blood lineage from the false lineage to true lineage. Because the first marriage was a false marriage, True Parents come to straighten out marriages and give them the right direction. That is the mission of True Parents. Through True Parents God will introduce absolute sex in place of free sex. So from now on if you go back to your country and your home and practice my teaching, eventually your home and your country will be restore back to God.
THE SECRET TO ENTERING THE KINGDOM OF GOD
In God’s eyes, the couple is absolute; there is no homosexuality whatsoever. In order to reach this stage I have been shedding tears, blood and sweat throughout my life. It has been a sorrowful path. Yet today I thank God because finally we have inaugurated the Family Federation for World Peace. As long as we stick with the spirit of the Family Federation for World Peace, we can enter the Kingdom of God. Without living this way we cannot guarantee family happiness and harmony.
God’s attributes are unique, unchanging and eternal; we should regard our sexual organs in the same way, because through these sexual organs we create love. If your spouse truly offers his or her sexual organ to you, then you have to become humble and receive it with a humble attitude. Love cannot be achieved without a partner.
Well you can live absolutely for the sake or your spouse and create absolute love. If you truly believe in this teaching, go back to your country and utilize all the means you can find to spread this message throughout your country. As long as you do that in a true spirit you will always prosper. We can see this world of hell change into a world centering on God’s absolute love. You need to love with an unchanging love and use your sexual organ as an instrument of unchanging love. Satan has been using the sexual organs, but God is the original owner of sexual organs owner, isn’t He? Can you deny that? Now that you clearly understand, let’s all take action together.
How can we create unique, unchanging, eternal, absolute love? How can we protect this organ? This is the task of the Family Federation for World Peace. Without this concept we cannot liberate the world.
Those who agree with my teaching tonight and are determined to live according to this spirit, could you show your hands to me as your promise? Keep your sexual organ absolute, unique and unchanging. Go home tonight and recognize your spouse’s sexual organ as yours and offer your sexual organ to your spouse. Through this recognition and exchange, you can build your true family and expand your true family to a true society, true nation, and true world This is the very spirit of the Family Federation for World Peace.
