Father’s Speech During Leaders Conference On January 2, 1996 At World Mission Center Grand Ballroom New York, New York
It has been a long day for you. When do you want to go home? I am leaving the country on January 5, 1996. The day before yesterday, 1995 ended. Now we are beginning the new year of 1996. The days do not change, and yet the year changes. People grow older and eventually pass on to the spiritual world. Each year people have plans-individual plans, family plans, national and worldwide plans-yet no one is really aware of those plans when they go to the spiritual world.
A tree grows larger each year, and age marks appear within the tree as the years go by and new branches grow. Yet no tree remembers all of those experiences over the years. Have you seriously thought about death? People usually die when they are not expecting it. Twelve years have passed since Heung Jin entered the spiritual world, but I feel as if it were only yesterday. However, Mother thinks that in twelve years I will be almost ninety years old. In that sense, I felt sorry.
It is our imminent, historical task to achieve our goal within twelve years. God’s providence is now blooming. This year I will tum 76. How many years until I reach the age of 100? Twenty-four years. How many months? 360. That sounds like a long time. However, when you watch your children grow, they quickly grow out of the infant stage. When they get married, you will feel as if it were only yesterday that they were babies. I feel the same way. These 24 years will pass like one month.
You have made so many pledges in the course of your life of faith. When you first left home for the sake of the mission given by God, remember the kind of pledges you made. If you do not fulfill those promises and have to return home, how agonizing it will be. When the people of your hometown hear about your pledges and see you return empty-handed, what will they think?
Is there anyone who is confident that they do not have to join the spiritual world at any time? What if you have to die tonight? We have to think about this. The fact that we are still alive means we are fighting against death and winning. That is why we are alive each day. No one is guaranteed to win the constant battle against death. Someday you will lose the battle and die.
Looking in a mirror, we may enjoy our good looks How-ever, when we die, this body will rot and decay and we will be left with nothing. How miserable! The Unification community is the most precious gift for any human being. This is the place where you can purify yourself and accomplish what God wants you to do. This is the best opportunity for you to accomplish anything as a human being.
When you left home, you promised that you would become a true man and a true hero. If you made a lot of mistakes, instead of carrying out these promises, you may end someplace in the spiritual world where no Unification Church members are. You may be in hell, while others end in the Kingdom of God. Later on, the people of your village–your relatives and neighbors who have known you in the physical world-will join the spiritual world and realize that you, a Unification Church member, ended in hell. Imagine the kind of feeling you would have to go through!
This is a serious matter. No matter how miserable you might feel, nothing can be undone then. While working for God and the Unification Church, you were opposed and persecuted by so many people, but because you failed to accomplish your life’s goal you ended in hell instead. How miserable you will be when you realize that you fell lower than non Unification Church members! The course of the life f faith is winning the battle with death.
Cherish each day
The old year, 1995, has passed. We should end each year with gratitude; not because we are still alive, but because of what we have accomplished during that year for the sake of God. What kind of result have you achieved? If you think about this seriously, you have to struggle to find one more day in order to accumulate more results for God. When it is time to go to bed at night, you should try to squeeze one more hour into the day to accomplish your task. During that extra day, if you are able to convince someone who can move your entire nation, that one’s day result is the salvation of your nation. Do the public work you are destined to do and discipline yourself to follow the right course. We all have to lead the life of faith. Do you understand?
Every day we have to think about death. Today I am walking this way, but if I suddenly drop dead what will happen? Even if you drop dead in the middle of walking, as long as you are determined to win one day, you will be successful.
Unification does not come throughout the course of your life. Unification comes in one particular moment. If you have an arch enemy, for example, and you speak one word to melt his heart, in that instant you will become friends; then unification comes about.
Whenever you finish your mission at the end of the day, I please seek to add one more hour of success to that day through your actions. When they reach their seventies or eighties, people generally sense when they will join the spiritual world. Those who have important missions to accomplish feel so conscious of their death. In particular, exiles who care for their countries endure sleepless nights as they seek to predict their future.
My life has been so tumultuous; I have been imprisoned and tortured many times. However, during each moment of torture and imprisonment, I thought that I could not die. Because I knew who was to be responsible for the course of humanity, I could not die. Even on the verge of death, if you truly pray and shed tears which can lead you beyond death, God will come down and help you. Do you understand this? Torture and suffering are not the problem. Rather, you have to make sure that you accomplish your mission before you die. That is the question all the time. That is a fearful mission. Have you really thought about it?
Please remember the day you truly dedicated yourself to God and to working for the sake of all humanity. You should remember those days. If you stray from the high level of faith which you had ten years ago, you have to repent. You need to reflect deeply within yourself and ask why. It is obvious that there is a difference between then and now in the intensity of effort given to the public mission.
The restoration of the cosmos includes the liberation of God. Have we upheld the position of restoring the cosmos for one single day? That is the question we have to ask ourselves. If not, what does cosmic restoration have to do with ourselves? We have to sacrifice ourselves and go beyond death to connect to that cosmic mission. Otherwise, we do not have anything to do with it. We cannot just travel horizontally; our life has to travel upward. As you continue to live, do not expect life to become easier. Rather, it should become harder and steeper.
Do not retreat
Our life course involves building bridges through sacrificing ourselves many times over. On our own, we cannot scale this vertical ladder. Therefore, as we climb the ladder, at each step we have to shed our genuine tears of repentance and tell Heavenly Father that we want to do our absolute best to climb the ladder, even though we are unworthy. From this position, we can beg God’s assistance. That is the only way that God will come down and help us accomplish our mission. Do you follow? (Yes.) You cannot retreat while climbing that vertical ladder. If you fail to accomplish your public mission, you will be criticized.
If you cannot climb further, what shall you do? If you feel that you are unable to rise one step further, then you have to determine to sacrifice your life to reach another step. When you are feeling stuck and unable to move another inch, you have to remember the kind of course God has walked throughout human history. God, who lost His original Adam and Eve, has not been able to restore them completely even after 6,000 years. When you think of this, you will feel that you can go beyond death. As soon as you feel God’s heart of agony and you shed tears because of that realization, you will be lifted and go beyond the goal you are trying to reach, because God will help you. Unless we reach the point beyond death, we cannot receive help from God.
Once I leave this country on January 5, I plan to research the ocean shore in countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, and other parts of South America. To think about these projects makes me fatigued. Ordinary people might feel that they should rest when they are tired, but I challenge that feeling of tiredness and persevere through it to accomplish my task. If there are ten strong people like myself in a boat, even if all the other nine people collapse in the midst of the course, I cannot collapse because I have the biggest mission. God likes such a person. When we think in a self-centered way, God does not help us.
I Have a parental heart
You ladies feel good when you apply makeup to your faces. When you leave your home all dressed up, you may meet a woman wearing rags and no makeup. Do you feel embarrassed to see her? When you encounter such people, you should feel as if they are your mother, your sister, or your daughter. The key question is how to generate that kind of heart, because God’s heart always goes out to such people.
I have experienced many types of prisons. I have seen people who were so hungry that once they got some food, they collapsed and died. The inmates would then take the food out of the dead person’s mouth and eat it. If the parents of that dying inmate were there, do you imagine they would take the food from their dying son’s mouth and eat it? (No.) If you have such a parental heart, all the inmates of that prison would naturally honor and respect you.
While I was in Hung Nam prison in North Korea, it could be so bitterly cold in the winter that if you spit, your saliva would freeze before hitting the ground. The prison uniforms were made from very thin material, and people shivered all night. In that kind of environment, how can a person generate such a parental heart that he will take off his prison uniform and give it someone else? That is the key. God comes down to the place where that kind of heart exists. Even if you take off your jacket in that severe weather and give it to another, you do not die. Among the 240 million Americans, how many have that kind of parental heart?
Experience God’s will as your own
I want to know if you consider God’s will to be your will. Do you truly consider True Parents’ will to be your will? Do you consider God’s will to be something separate from your-selves? If you consider God’s will to belong only to God or True Parents, it feels somewhat distant. When we feel that it is our own will, then there is no gap. God has been seeking the restoration of the original Adam and Eve. However, He is not seeking them from some place distant, but rather from within myself. That is the attitude we should have.
What kind of course do you imagine I had to go through to determine the cause of the fall? Have you thought about it? When I truly felt the heart of God at the time of the fall, I immediately traveled to the original time when God first felt that agony and heart. This pain itself forms a subject-object relation-ship. Therefore, I concluded that the fall took place due to the misuse of love. What kind of agony have you experienced because of the will of God? If you truly feel the pain at not being able to fulfill the will of God, your heart will travel to the point where you can find your object.
In the course of the providence, whenever I make a decision, it is the correct one. I do not take chances. I do not act on whim. Once I am connected to God and figure out God’s greatest agony, then I immediately travel to that spot and make decisions based upon that situation. Just as God has no friends, I have no friends. I am alone. That is why I always feel that I have to do every-thing myself. Since God’s dispensation in South America began one year ago, imagine how much work I have accomplished in that time.
Even when I decide to have a conference on a certain day, everyone around me tries to delay it to have more time to prepare. I insist on going ahead with or without enough preparation time, because I know the timetable. If they truly under stood what I understand, they would be in an even greater hurry than I; but they are so ignorant of the providential timetable.
Walking through this course of dispensation, I have trusted our members as if they were my own sons and daughters. I gave much responsibility to many members. However, many of them have failed me. I started a certain number of businesses in Uruguay, such as a hotel, bank and newspaper fifteen years ago. During those years I never went there to check on these businesses, because I trusted the leaders like my own children. Yet they have failed me. The leaders of those businesses used the names of their relatives, or even their own names, so that the business was in their own hands, instead of God’s. When I realized this, I immediately changed the leadership.
Those leaders who have been responsible for businesses in South America never expanded their horizons. They maintained the same level of thinking as when they began the business at a small level. Therefore, they got into trouble. During these fifteen years, I sent auditing teams to check on these businesses. When I arrived and began asking questions about the businesses, I was regarded as just another auditor. The leadership did not know what I was doing. I immediately figured out where this leader stood spiritually and fiscally, and rectified the mistakes. Don’t you think I have that kind of ability? (Yes.) The same principle applies to you.
Stand Straight
When I look at all of you, there is no one who is standing straight in front of the will of God. Can you confidently claim to have been standing straight for twenty years in front of the will of God? There may be thousands of thin roots underneath you, but the central root should be just one. Where there is one central root, there should be one central trunk, not two. That is the shortest distance that you can travel. Since you joined the Unification Church, has your life followed the central trunk and central root? Usually once people discover the truth they make such strong determination to give their lives; however, within a couple of years, they lose their determination and they vacillate. Remember, on the straight line from the central root and through the central trunk, God’s throne is waiting for you.
God has been seeking true children who can inherit the throne of the Kingdom of God in heaven. Adam and Eve set a zig-zag course, making history so complicated. This is not conceptual. This central root, central trunk, and central body are still there, planted by God; but we have to find the right person who can stand in that position. The twelve disciples of Jesus Christ created their own denominations eventually, but there is only one central root. Who can take that position? No one.
It is incredible that the Unification Church finally came up with the teaching of elder sonship, elder parentship, and elder kingship. That is straight from the central root, central trunk, and central body. When you expand this vertical relationship horizontally, it spreads out from the individual to the cosmos.
I am giving this special teaching so you can overcome one hurdle. I will not have as much time to deal with you as I have had in the past. The period of elder sonship is different from I the period of parentship. The period of kingship emerges vertically, unlike the time of family under parentship.
Educate leaders
The religious conference, “Ecumenism in America,” represents the Abel-type realm. Now I have to create the Cain-type realm, based on the secular heads of state. I am inviting as many heads of state as possible to come to South America to be trained by me beginning January 14 of this year. Why did I set that date? Because the number 14 represents the second seven-year course and the national level. From January 14-18, the seminar will take place. This seminar will create the Cain-type position, while the religious conference stands in the position of Abel. The number 18, the date this seminar will end, represents the youth of today. All the youth of the world will come under this influence.
Within three days after the completion of the seminar for heads of state, I will bring 100 national-level political leaders to Washington, DC, to educate them. If I give them plenty of time to invite such people to Washing-ton, they will just take it easy. However, if I give them a deadline of three days, everyone will become more desperate to achieve the goal. It is a matter of your heart, attitude and determination. Time is not the key factor.
What if I change the date for the 3.6 Million Couples’ Blessing ceremony from November 1997 to November 1996? Would you not become more serious about this event? If I give the goal of November 1996, would you become more serious about this event, or would you be knocked down and give up? Even at the cost of our lives, and even after we die, we still have to accomplish this. No one is going to help you. It is not a case of firing a cannonball, because the cannonball has already been fired and is on its way. Now it is a matter of hitting the target.
Without doing this, how can we restore through indemnity the forty years of history or the 4,000 years of history? We have to give our 100 percent effort. It is all a matter of attitude. When you have the right attitude, God will come down and work through you. Do not imagine that you can sit eating your meal in a relaxed manner. Eat while on your way to witnessing.
How about Reverend Takeru Karniyama, are you determined to go this way? (YES.) You answer well, but answering is not the key. Practice is the key. People who talk much usually have a lot of excuses to offer as well. Do you understand?
Whenever we plan an event, do we need to have three weeks, two weeks, or one week to prepare? God does not like long periods of preparation. I am giving you a practical tip here. Whenever I am planning a major event for the first time, remember that the event may be repeated in the future. Therefore, you have to make plans for the second and third conferences already; then when I give directions for such an event, you can tell me that you will accomplish it within three days.
Catch big fish
Fifteen years ago when I first began establishing the business foundation in Uruguay, many people laughed at me. They thought to themselves, if Reverend Moon wants to invest money here then let him. We will enjoy it. They did not under-stand me at all. Geographically speaking, Uruguay is in exactly the opposite position to Korea. If you were to drill straight down from Seoul, you would end in Montevideo. They are on the same axis. How often have I been teaching you about the importance of an axis? I keep thinking about this axis with Uruguay. Over the past fifteen years, I have poured money and effort into this small country of Uruguay. The neighboring countries of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay were expecting me to invest an even bigger amount into their countries.
I have been practicing the philosophy of fishing, giving the bait to Uruguay and letting the bigger fish of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay keep their mouths open, silently waiting for a bigger bait. The bigger the fish, the bigger the mouth. Therefore, I am able to hook them more easily. (Laughter.) When the central figure thinks of doing things for the sake of God and then accomplishes them, he will never lose. To catch a big fish, you need a big bait. When you throw the larger bait into the water, people should not be standing around making noise. Everything has to be quiet. When the big bait begins to sink, the big fish will then bite. The country of Uruguay will become bait for bigger countries.
Would you prefer to grab hold of me or a small local leader in your region? (Father.) Suppose your local leader persecutes you and kicks you out of the movement: would you leave the church because of that? If so, you are not even worthy of be-coming chum.
Are you bait or are you chum? When I stand before an American congregation of our members, I am not attracted by your appearance. I do not see anyone who really appeals to me. I am not an ordinary person. I am different from every-one else. Do you understand that? (Yes.)
Do not complain
During the 1950s, there was a small Korean village approximately 55 miles from Seoul. In those days, there was no nice paved roadway to that village, but there were three sisters from one family who were praying constantly for me to come visit them. They often received the revelation that the next day I would visit them. They would prepare delicious rice cakes, clean the house, and wait for me. I never came. However, instead of giving up, they continued to pray even harder. Upon receiving another revelation, they would prepare again. They did this so many times. How about you? If that were to happen to you, would you give up, destroy everything, and com-plain about the revelation? Whoever complains in the life of faith will have much potential to fail in his life.
If I were to complain about my course during the past forty years, imagine how much I would have been able to complain!
If I kept everything within my heart, what agony would I have stored up! For forty years I have had absolute confidence that this truth would save America, Russia and the whole world.
However, many people did not accomplish their missions. If I began to complain about my followers and how this evil world did not accept me, how miserable my life would be! Do you understand?
Would you have had the opportunity to know about True Parents? Yesterday I wrapped up the concept of True Parents for you, but if I were to go into detail about the meaning of True Parents it might take thousands of years. My character is like a fire. No one can compare to it. Yet I am also most patient. This is where the value lies. That is why everything has been possible until this point.
What about your lives since you joined True Parents? Have you complained during your life of faith? Those who have not complained at all show your hands to me. The religious course of life goes beyond death. We are still alive. Therefore, we cannot complain.
Give, and give again
The Bible teaches that he who is willing to sacrifice his life shall gain it, while he who tries to save his life shall lose it. Suppose this sister was so dedicated to the mission that she forgot to comb her hair for one week. She might appear to be a crazy person. Yet when God looks down upon her, would He love her or think she was crazy? (He would love her.) If she is really such a person and God comes down and sees her, God would punish anyone who laughs at her and he would give all that person’s fortune to her.
I have taught you Satan’s strategy and God’s strategy. God’s strategy is to be attacked and then reclaim everything from the attacker. This is a mysterious strategy. On the contrary, Satan’s strategy is to attack first and ultimately to lose everything.
We should understand that on the road of restoration, we change the road of death into the road of life, even if it means going to the extreme of sacrificing our lives. We can then survive and be successful. While you are alive, you have to experience death. H you have to walk such a path, imagine how miserable your life would become; for this means becoming the partner of God, who has been giving and investing and forgetting. You have to become like God. The life of faith is killing my present self to better prepare my future self.
In our life of faith the most fearful thing is becoming a leader. Do you understand? The leader’s position is one of giving and investing, not taking from someone.
The fisherman’s heart
I have now achieved my goal and am sitting on the top of the world. I know that so many legislators and presidents want to meet me. Therefore, I am retreating to the extreme country-side in South America and hiding myself in a place where there is water, untouched soil, trees and mountains just like God’s original creation. That is the place where I am going. Returning to nature is restoration-loving the water, grass and trees just as God loves them. God created all these elements, as well as the fish in the water. H Unification Church members catch fish from someplace, you have to pay them back by offering a month’s supply of food to the fish. Whenever I go fishing, the first fish caught is always released, as a condition. Suppose I am only able to catch one fish per day. I still have to put that fish back.
I Sometimes I set the condition of praying as I release the one fish I caught that day. Since this was all I could catch, if I release the fish that day I will not have to release it one month later. H I catch two small ones, then I release both of them. H you have such a heart, the fish will naturally be attracted to your bait and keep on biting.
When leaders fish with me, they sit for many hours without catching anything while I catch many fish. Some people believe there is magic in my fishing pole, but when there is a heartistic relationship the fish are drawn to it. That excites me. People who go with me usually become tired within a few hours and try to run away. Yet I never feel tired. I can fish the whole night long.
Since I am on the topic of fishing, I want to repeat my direction for you to have four different types of boats. Leaders of each country must train yourselves how to drive and repair boats, and fish. H you do well, I may build a boatyard in your country in the future.
I am launching the project which your ancestors are doing. There-fore, you have to have the attitude that since it is your ancestors’ project you are its first heirs. You do not like to think that way, though.
Even Reverend Kamiyama tried to duck out when I first tried to bring him fishing, but now he is crazy about fishing. Even if you want to go fishing, you cannot go unless I agree to it. When you complete your mission, I will take you fishing.
Build a road that God can follow
I have completed my work in other areas; that is why I am cultivating this oceanic enterprise. If I were to go into details about my future plans, you would all go crazy. Therefore, I will not reveal these things now. Even if I tell you what is going to take place this year and next year, it is difficult for you to believe. If I were to explain things that may happen twenty years from now, you would not believe me, just as the members who left twenty years ago did not believe my predictions about what is happening today. Now, standing outside the movement, they realize that these things actually came to pass.
Many of these former members have made their careers since leaving the movement, but they realize that they will not be able to take their money and career with them when they die. They feel stuck. The money they have made and the careers they have built have been done under the conditions of the enemy Satan.
As you build the road to your physical death, are you going to build a wide enough road so that 1,000 people can line up and walk with you? (Yes.) Is this an easy task to accomplish? If you take life easy, do you imagine you will be able to accomplish this?
Have you thought of building your road wide enough and fast enough for me to follow? Are you building it through enough nations so God can follow it? Do you want to receive me in your country? Those who were born outside of the United States, please raise your hands. Most of you. Have you really thought about building a superhighway that God and True Parents could travel along with you?
Don’t you think God will want to travel wherever I go? (Yes.) Where there is a steep mountain or narrow valley, you cannot build a superhighway wide enough to bring many people along with you. In that case, instead of building a narrow road due to the circumstances, the secret is to develop many attractions and then they will come. If God and True Parents come, you can demonstrate how to catch many different species of fish. You can explain to God all the different ways to catch the great variety of fish that He made; then you can make God and True Parents excited.
Train yourselves in many ways
When I was in Brazil recently, I woke up before 5:00 a.m. and went out fishing on the small rivers. People would wonder what I was doing. There are a limited number of fish; and how many of them could be caught in the dark? But they did not understand.
We have to be trained in many ways. You should be able to take God out fishing in the midst of a downpour. If there is a flood covering the landmarks, you should still be able to find a certain spot to catch fish with God. That much training we need. Suppose rain is pouring down, but one fish bites your line and takes off: then you have to follow that fish. In the excitement of catching the fish, you will forget the umbrella; you will forget being wet. Still you will cling to your line and go after the fish. Unfortunately, after putting out all this effort, the fish you catch may be only a small one; you will begin to realize that, in trying to catch this little fish, you got completely soaked and broke your umbrella. When you go home, your family and neighbors will persecute you!
You have to prepare yourself to cope with that kind of treatment from people. In embarrassing situations, you taste the beauty of life. No matter how unfriendly or rigid-looking a husband you may have, when he falls into such a situation, he will have to smile and be nice to his wife. She will then realize that he was never totally rigid. That will become a memorable day.
With such a variety of experiences, you can make yourself a versatile leader. You will be able to lead in any circumstances. When someone is crying, hold onto his ear, slap his face, and make him smile. Naturally, he will rebel against you for taking such action, so you have to give him a nice reason. You might say he looks exactly like your elder brother who used to slap you a lot: “I wanted to kind of pay him back, so I slapped you.” That will make him smile or laugh. That is how you can instantly become close friends.
If someone keeps acting like a big shot and boasts about himself, keep on praising him until he reaches the top. Once he realizes there is no way to rise further, he will plummet to the bottom. You can then step over him. Because I practice this, every kind of person likes me; not only Unification Church members, but also fishermen, miners, farmers, even thieves. A thief could sit down with me and, after listening to me speak, get up and leave without stealing anything. Don’t you think this is an exciting life?
Establish a fishing club
Those who want to accompany me on a fishing trip, raise your hands. If you want to be eligible to do this, you should establish a fishing club consisting of fifty or more members. The minimum membership is fifty.
If you become successful in forming such a fishing club, then someday I may call you and tell you to bring your club members to me on a jumbo jet. You do not need to bring fishing rods, bait or anything, but you still have to buy the tickets. (Laughter.) I will take you and your club members to a particular spot where you can catch big fish. Are you interested? (Yes.) I will open my eyes and watch you.
Those who are confident, you can build such a fishing club with fifty members or more, close your eyes and raise your hands. I am counting now. Keep your hands up. Please trans-late for the Japanese members to help them understand what I am saying. Keep your eyes closed. If you truly feel that you want to do it, then please show both of your hands. If you have good fishing boats in your country, you can accommodate up to thirty people at a time. Through fishing, you can train them.
I will establish a focal point, something like a headquarters office where you can report on your fishing activity. Where there is potential, I will send my representative to investigate what kind of fish can be caught at your location; then I will send tourists and sightseers. As I predicted, in the near future, the world will be attracted to this.
Have you heard the great news regarding the Il Hwa soccer team of Korea? (Yes.) They won three consecutive championship victories. In this third year, after they won the championship in Korea, they were sent out representing Korea, and they won the Asian cup again. (Applause.) These are professional soccer matches in Asia. As a bonus, I am inviting the Il Hwa soccer team members to Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay to play the national teams there. (Applause.)
Now we shall organize the fishing clubs. Those who raised their hands today to form fishing clubs in your countries, please sign the list before leaving. When you have the opportunity to go on a fishing trip with me, do you want to go ten miles from your hometown or do you want to go as far as you can with me? How far? A one-day course or a two- to three-day course? (One week.) Those who are willing to go around the world with me, raise your hands, please. Go ahead and form your clubs then.
This year I will call upon you. Since I will be stationed mostly in Uruguay, I may call four or five teams at a time to Monte video. When you come, I will charge you only half the cost of the regular hotel rate. I will buy all the fish you catch and pay the top price. If you really know how to calculate how many fish you can catch and how much money you can earn, you can become successful. Wherever you go with your club members, you can always rent a boat at a cheap rate and have money left when you return home.
Establish shipyards
When you get 500 members, I will send you a mold of our Good Go boat so you can build your own boats in your country. Eventually, I want to see boats built in all 163 nations; then you can sell the boats and make money. Right now, these boats are being built at our shipyard in Korea; but when the time comes, you will be able to build your own boats and make money. If you become successful in building boats and selling them, 1 will transfer our boat-building technology from Korea, and we can build commercial ships and oil tankers in your country. You can make money building commercial boats.
In the near future, I plan to build submarine villages. We will have submarines in which five or ten families can live together. Anytime you want to move from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean you simply sail there. This time is coming.
The people living on the land will observe that a particular submarine village submerged over a month ago without surfacing and wonder if the people are all dead. However, when we have submarine villages, we will make small holes in the wall through which we can stick out a fishing rod whenever we need fish. Are you interested in this life?
Build airstrips near resorts
The big shots of the world have already covered the famous places of the world. There are beautiful beaches in Rio de Janeiro, and thousands of people pour to the beaches in sea-son. When they are swimming, they often urinate in the water. Those who have been guilty of urinating in the ocean while swimming, raise your hands. You are laughing, which means you are guilty of this.
Suppose there is a beautiful beach with clean water and tens of thousands of people go there to swim. A newspaper reporter then sends a sample of the water to be analyzed. If the result shows that ten percent of the water is urine, people will stay away from that beach. Where can they go? They will go to small, untouched places.
Therefore, they will need small airplanes and small landing strips in the remote countryside. I am encouraging you to build a landing strip at least 2,000 feet long where small planes can land. Within the year, we will have 300 different landing strips all over the world. Are you happy to hear this? (Yes.) You have to then create small airports.
In South America, I saw places where it took a bulldozer one week to create a natural landing strip. Small planes are able to land on the grass, or even sand, without much problem. In the near future, we will have many small airports throughout the world. Unificationists will be in charge of operating them, and you can live on that income and travel wherever you wish. Because you are in charge of the airport, when an airplane is not full they will give you a seat.
The time for automobiles is passing. Soon we will witness the small plane era. Reverend Kwak promised that, after the 360,000 Couples’ Blessing, the blessed couples would provide a small plane for me. However, it has not yet arrived.
Small airplanes are not so expensive actually. In each country, the most beautiful and scenic areas are in the remote country-side. Therefore, if we build small landing strips in such locations and have our own privately owned resorts, people will come and visit. We do not have to actually own airplanes; we can charter small planes. You may not know, but I already own a small airplane company and have several airplanes. How about that? (Applause.)
Suppose we have small airports in 160 nations in small scenic resort areas and a tourism guide book showing all the different locations. You can take the fifty members of your fishing club to different locations throughout the world. Within five years, the club membership will expand to hundreds of people, and we will lead tourism. (Applause.) Once people come and experience the good service and friendly environment orchestrated by Reverend Moon, they will be totally shocked.
Organize all kinds of expeditions
Soon I will have dozens of cruise boats, small submarines, and helicopters. A cruise boat can drop off a group of people for a week in a certain place and then return to pick them up while dropping off another group. This kind of sightseeing arrangement can be made. Isn’t it exciting? Those who have enough money do not have to remain in one place. They can travel to the remote countryside of the world and yet do their work while enjoying their lives.
Suppose one company buys twenty round-the-world tickets. One person does not have to use the whole ticket, because the company directors and executives can share tickets and go wherever they wish and enjoy their lives. When you have a number of boats, you can share them and decide whether to go from north to south or from east to west. I am still preparing for that time.
We can include hunting expeditions. For hunting purposes, we can create animal farms and raise tigers, wolves and lions. We can raise them and ship them to wherever we plan to hunt. It is a matter of shipping them from one place to another.
We will cultivate fish farms. All manner of fish can be farmed so that people can catch whatever type of fish they want. If one place has only three kinds of fish, we can connect it to another fish farm with a larger variety, so eventually people will be able to fish for many kinds of fish.
My plans are limitless. Where there is hunting and fishing, I also want to create a soccer field, tennis courts, volleyball courts, and even a playground like Disney World.
When soccer teams have to travel to play matches, they do not have to fly. They might take a cruise boat. I am developing the idea of submarine villages, because there are so many restrictions due to national boundaries. If you have a submarine, you do not have to be bound in that way. You could even come to the American coastline, stay one week, and then quietly leave. If it becomes controversial, then I will mobilize the worldwide media organizations and criticize the particular country who complains.
Do you want me to continue to talk on this subject? (Yes.) Well, if I continue, your eyes will remain open and finally become like cement eyes that cannot blink anymore.
Utilize new information technology You should know God’s plan for the future by now. We will need school buildings, as well as office buildings. Wherever you go, you communicate with everyone through a lap-top computer. You can swap office workers from one place to another. You will not be restricted by one information source.
The revolution of information and transportation technology has broadened the human horizon. Videotapes will be utilized for education, and then you can study whatever you want at any level. That is why I have been organizing scholars from all over the world and developing news organizations. Are you interested in all of this? (Yes.)
Who likes this better, men or women? You American women claim more women are interested. This means you need to learn how to drive boats and submarines, as well as cars. Prepare yourselves. This is not just talk. I am actually making preparations.
We need at least 300 boats in South America. I already bought some in Argentina and more are being ordered. Do you want to ride these boats? (Yes.) Train yourselves. Those who signed up to develop fishing clubs will have the first choice.
In Montevideo, I built a landmark hotel, which is the biggest and the best in South America. (Applause.) The name “Montevideo” will be changed to “Moon-tevideo.” (Laughter. Applause.) Are you really interested in all of this?
The most expensive information is business sense. It is a great sense to have. Do not sell this sense, but keep it forever.
My watch tells me that it is 9:00 p.m. That means I am really hungry. I have been talking all this afternoon. Now you decide: do you want to finish this meeting with me tonight, or do you want to stay one more night and see me tomorrow? (Tomorrow.) We do not have enough food to feed you tomorrow. I am becoming more stingy.
What is this year’s motto, “Let Us Be Proud of True Parents and Love True Parents.” Since you heard my New Year’s message, do you now know why we need True Parents? (Yes.) We must understand how many murders and struggles, how much suffering and persecution history has seen until True Parents appeared in this world. The notion of True Parents existed even before creation. That was the standard that God wanted to see. God had to go through so much agony when He lost True Parents because of the fall! This is a reality. [At this point, Father read the directions for 1996. See accompanying article in this issue.]
Spread the word
I am directing Reverend Kwak, the president of HSA-UWC International, to print, “Let us be proud of True Parents, let us love True Parents and let us thank True Parents.” This teaching can solve all individual, family, society, national and worldwide problems. Even the problems of the spiritual world and the cosmos can be solved with this teaching.
This is the truth that we have to advertise and propagate. We should make a lot of stickers, pamphlets and posters and spread the truth all over the world. (Applause.) We have to advertise this more than Coca-Cola advertises their product. Whenever you have time, go out with a bunch of posters and place them on any open space. That is your job. Do you understand? (Yes.)
We should be more professional, than worldly advertising companies. Advertisers come up with all manner of slogans for the purpose of making money. We will do this to save people. From now on, you should advertise and spread my name to bring more people to the next blessing. Our goal is 3.6 million couples. In our pride in True Parents, our love for True Parents, and our gratitude for True Parents, our goal is to reach 3.6 million couples and bring them to the blessing. Do you follow? (Yes.)
Complete your tribal messiahship
You must complete this responsibility. Wherever you live, the head of that country is a Cain-type king. As a tribal messiah, you are in the position of an Abel-type king. You should, therefore, be able to educate your Cain-type head of state. That is your original mission as tribal messiah.
On the worldwide level, I am the Abel-type king of all 163 nations. Adam and Jesus were supposed to secure the king-ship, but they did not fulfill this goal. The original Adam was in the position of the family-level messiah, and Jesus Christ came as the national-level messiah. However, Jesus was unable to establish his family. Now, based upon the victorious world-wide foundation of True Parents, you are being sent out to 163 nations in the position of Jesus Christ who establishes his own family and stands in the position of Abel-type king.
In a way, you are in the position of second Adam and I am the perfected third Adam. You are going out to restore the nation of Israel.
When all 163 nations are restored, then I will be recognized on the worldwide level as the Abel-type king of 163 nations. You will fulfill the position of Abel-type kings on the national level. Please pay attention; this is a very important teaching. You are sent out to each nation as blessed couples and tribal messiahs. Remember, these 163 nations will eventually have to become united into one family of nations.
As the number of countries who totally accept True Parents and unite with us increases, all humankind will become one family of nations and I will represent the Abel-type king of all. You will stand at Jesus Christ’s level. However, you are more fortunate than Jesus, because you have established families due to the grace of True Parents. Once that one world under God and True Parents is established, tribal messiahs will occupy central positions throughout the world.
As a tribal messiah, you have to restore the original Adam’s family-level foundation. Upon that foundation, I am sending you out with your family. When you restore your family as a mission is to establish foundations through helping leaders of the different nations unite with True Parents. In your own nation, you should serve and honor True Parents as the Abel-type king of your nation. When all 163 nations recognize me, this will usher in one world under God and True Parents.
Restore 160 families
You begin your mission of leading your nation to True Parents by restoring 160 families. This is the first stage of your mission; then twelve tribes need to be established in your nation. That is how you will advance step by step.
As tribal messiahs, this is the only mission you have to accomplish. Once you restore 160 families, you will naturally belong to one of the twelve tribes. By then there will be twelve different tribes established, and you will be able to register yourself with one of those twelve different tribes.
Remember Father’s prison life
As a tribal messiah, no matter what manner of difficulties you may encounter in the future, nothing compares to the hardship of my life of imprisonment and persecution. When-ever you encounter difficult situations, remember my life in prison. Therefore, you have to become totally united with me in heart and united with God.
Understand the restoration of your nation
In the realm of the absolute environment, tribal messiahs must resemble the life course of True Parents and experience it in heart. The realm of absolute environment includes the past, present and future.
Organize prayer groups of 360 people in each nation. Tribal messiah signs should be hanging all over the world. The entire world should be decorated with tribal messiah church signs.
There should be prayer groups of ten people each praying in different locations throughout your nation. Ten people praying for each of the thirty days in a month requires 300 people. You will have sixty more people, so it will rotate continuously. If possible, twice a month all 360 people should gather and go over the details of your prayer conditions. We are talking about chain prayer vigils involving ten people at a time.
You all have inherited the Tongil cho, which should be used for prayer conditions. Through this Tongil cho prayer, all 360 people will become totally united, just as 360 days form one year.
Unite secular families, centering on blessed couples
This means uniting your relatives and neighboring families, and expanding this unification of families to your 160 families. Centering upon true families, we have to unite all those families.
Establish the way to unify the world by the year 2000
Because of the fall, God lost the first, second and third generations to Satan. At the time of restoration, True Parents are the first generation, and tribal messiahs are the second generation. Your responsibility is enormous; greater than you can fully comprehend.
We have to become bridges. Do you understand? All human-kind was supposed to become the children of God; but through the fall, we became the descendants of Satan. Now at the time of restoration we all have to switch positions and turn 180 degrees toward God’s side. That is the massive task before us as tribal messiahs. Don’t you agree?
This is not my own thinking, but rather the principle of restoration. That is why I am telling you that voluntary mass migration will occur in the future.
One lineage, one culture, and one tradition will be established. Do you have any questions? To prevent confusion, I am already preparing through international, inter-religious, and interracial holy blessing ceremonies.
Naturally, all the groups of evil people will pass; chased out from our lives. Once this heavenly sovereignty takes place, it will not matter if you have a million-dollar house or other assets.
If you men want to secure the position of restored Adam, you have to go out to the secular world and bring your Eve along to be restored. The men are supposed to move to some place and restore the women there for the Women’s Federation for World Peace. This is how you restore the Eves.
This is the reverse course. If I mobilize your husbands to go to another country to restore the women of that country, you wives should remain patient and await your husbands’ return. That is why I trained you in all the tactics of fundraising. Who is usually better at fundraising, men or women? (Women.) That is right. Therefore, when your husband is away, do not go far away to fund raise; stick close to your neighborhood and try to make your living there.
Make four pledges
To fulfill our mission, we have to come up with the following determinations: (1) I pledge to do my mission. (2) I will bring the result. Without bringing the result your world will be in vain. (3) I shall become all exemplary person within my country. That means under its existing sovereignty or national flag. ( 4) I will follow the tradition of True Parents, ‘who are the true teacher and true king in our daily lives.
I have taught you that our conscience precedes parents, teacher and king. Centered upon our conscience, we shall establish the tradition of True Parents, true teacher, and true king in our daily lives. This is our pledge and determination today.
Future restructuring
I will not give you a timetable for restructuring the leader-ship and moving people around. However, someday I will do these things. I am giving you time, particularly you wives, to prepare to support your families without your husbands. Eventually, I will mobilize your husbands for another mission.
According to God’s timetable, those who were born prior to 1945 must be mobilized this time. You were supposed to belong to the Lord of the Second Advent right after World War II. If Christianity had not rejected the Lord of the Second Advent, you would automatically have belonged to me and worked with me to build the Kingdom of God on earth.
At the time of Jesus’ birth, the Romans were taking a census, and each citizen had to go to their birthplace to register. Likewise, those of you who were born prior to 1945 are supposed to move with me to your own homes, after spending forty years in the wilderness. “Your home” means “my home.” You have to follow me, as the people followed Moses. It is a big challenge, isn’t it? When the time comes to move, those who have less property will have an easier time. Therefore, make sure that you lead a simple life.
This is the will of God. I do not have a choice. Without accomplishing these things, how can we expect to restore the entire world and eliminate discrimination? There is no way to do so. Our future generations must be able to inherit heavenly tradition through us. Since there is no heavenly tradition what so ever in this world, I have sent out tribal messiahs to establish heavenly tradition in all the nations of the world.
If the 800 million Christians of the world had accepted me as the Lord of the Second Advent and united with me after World War II, then tribal messiahship would have been established and the entire world would have, been restored overnight. It would not have taken a long time.
However, because Christianity rejected the Lord of the Second Advent, the last nation became the first nation. For example, Japan was most miserable immediately following World War II, but now it has become the number one economic power in the world. However, if Japan fails to accomplish her mission, Japan will then become the last again.
The Christians of Korea rejected the Lord of the Second Advent. As the Unification Church membership grows and people from all over the world rush into Korea, the Korean Christians will have no place to go. They will have to move. Don’t you think that is logical?
God’s ideal of establishing the elder sonship and parentship and kingship within the three generations of Adam and Cain and Abel was destroyed by the fall. In the last days, I have to create these generations, as well as restore true lineage, ownership, and heart. This restoration of heart involves restoring Adam’s family. Unless you have the same heart as Adam’s family, you cannot receive the blessing. As long as this principle exists, we must build the unified world.
Once you truly understand this truth, you have no choice but to study the Korean language and master it. If there are ten people in similar situations, whoever speaks Korean fluently and understands the Korean culture will be chosen first, when it comes to restoration. Another privilege or advantage is having an international marriage. If Japanese people wish only to marry other Japanese, they will fall behind. This applies to all nationalities. This is a very serious teaching.
When the time of kingship comes, we all have to re register as citizens. Therefore, you need to have a clear understanding of what I am teaching. The era of elder sonship and the era of parentship is passing away, and we are now entering into the era of kingship. We need to clearly understand this to be able to complete everything.
We will have many different tribal messiahs, but they will all be registered under one of twelve tribes. This is a very serious matter. For example, the Kamiyama tribe may now be registered under that name, but if some of the Kamiyama tribe are left out, for whatever reason, then once registration is completed they cannot register in the Kamiyama tribe later. They will have to try to register under another tribe, and will encounter difficulties. Do you understand?
If True Parents had been received directly following World War II, the entire world would have been able to register. Even after entering the Kingdom of God, we all have to be mixed. I am encouraging you to enter into international marriages to prepare for this. The international blessed couples in the Unification Church are in the Abel position to the internationally married couples in the secular world. Therefore, our internationally blessed couples must be able to save them. These secular internationally married couples may feel comforted to find other international couples, such as our blessed couples. It will then be easy for them to come and attend the blessing through us. This is how we will can restore them.
To save Japan I have instructed Reverend Kwak to organize the four nations of Canada, Philippines, Taiwan and New Zealand in a sisterhood relationship with Japan. There are 55 provinces in Japan, and these four nations will establish sisterhood relationships with each province. While I was in the Philippines delivering my speech, Japanese leaders came to report to me, and I instructed them regarding these sister-hood relationships. Through HSA-UWC International head-quarters, this will be implemented. It is a serious stage now.
Make a special prayer condition
All the Japanese leaders who are here should engage in a special prayer condition with Mrs. Hyo Nam Kim, who testified this morning. Through this, you will be able to receive more spiritual power and healing.
The representatives of the Philippines, Taiwan, Canada and New Zealand who are to establish sisterhood relationships with Japanese provinces are also instructed to go through the same prayer condition with Mrs. Kim. I am not supposed to perform such a healing prayer because I am in the position of True Parent, but Mrs. Kim can do this as your sister. Please go through this prayer session to gain help.
I want to remind you to build small airstrips and shipyards in your nations as soon as possible. The sooner you begin, the better off you will be.
Japanese leaders should notify me before leaving the country. I may meet with you one more time before you depart. From January 2, 3, and 4, you will pass through this prayer session and meet with people from the nations I mentioned. Please report to me about this. The key Japanese leaders will be well trained by me and by Mrs. Kim so that they can be directed by the spiritual world.
You have responsibility now, so do not pay attention to wherever I may go from now on.
