Father’s Speech On October 3, 1995 At Belvedere International Training Center, Tarrytown, New York
WHAT does this banner say? Read it loudly. Those who cannot read what this sign says please raise your hands. As you know, I recently gave a sixteen city speaking tour. I spoke in sixteen different state. During this time I gave the speech “True Family and I” in English. I read this speech more than one hundred times including the sixteen official speeches I gave. However, when I read the original Korean text just once, it gave me more inspiration, deeper understanding a truer meaning of the speech an reading it one hundred tunes m English. From this experience, I realized how important it is for each one of us to unify languages.
You Americans do not really know the importance of unifying languages. You may not appreciate this because you feel you are able to communicate freely in English wherever you go. Those who stick with the English language will pay indemnity because eventually you will have to go through the hardship of learning Eastern languages.
The structure of the language is very important in and of itself. Korean and English are exactly opposite in structure. In Korean the word order is different. In Korean we would say, “Food eat,” while in English we say, “We eat food.” That gives us more headaches when we study and shows us how complicated it is. Your brain has to learn to restructure and adapt to a different language. Therefore, no matter how difficult it may be, we must unify the languages. Only True Parents are able to do this. Is it true?
THE VALUE OF HARMONY
I like the word “unification,” because it symbolizes nature. Trees and grass provide oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, whereas humans emit carbon dioxide and take in oxygen. If plants did the same, humanity would have been eliminated long ago. However, there is a harmonious give and take be-tween humankind and nature similar to the horizontal and vertical parts of the Arabic numeral “8,” in which the line goes around and comes back again. The numeral “8” is shaped like a propeller, which is ideal because when the propeller spins fast one cannot even see it anymore.
You must be able to build a harmonious relationship with the entire world, centered upon this shape. Horizontally and vertically you have to be able to build a bridge and connect the two. With this circular movement you can claim the entire area inside the circular community as yours. You are sitting on top of it.
If you ask children to demonstrate how much they want something, they stretch their arms to their full extent, as they can stretch. They never tell you they want only a tiny little bit. (Laughter.)
We need unification. All relationships have plus and minus, subjective and objective aspects. The vertical relationship always stands in the position of subject, while the horizontal relation-ship stands in the position of object. Electricity is generated through a spinning motion centering on a rod. The spinning rotor generates energy, which in turn is converted into electricity.
THE UNIFICATION OF RACES
Do you like unification? (Yes.) Do you want unification among Americans only, or unification among different races? (Different races.) If all the white males take black brides and all the black males take white brides, then it will be a unified world.
When I was in Argentina recently I learned that if one keeps breeding white bulls with white cows, the breed gradually becomes weaker, while mixed breeding produces much better stock.
Birds migrate from one place to another, covering vast distances, primarily to adjust themselves to different climates and to bring about a change.
Salmon always return to the original water in which they were hatched to multiply. They remain in the cold river water for a while after hatching, and then they separate out into the five oceans. Then after four to six years the male salmons return to the original hatching place and wait for the arrival of the female salmons two weeks later. Then they breed in the original place. Who gives them the direction to find their original home again after traveling five different oceans? That puzzles me still. By doing so they produce healthier salmon.
No one else throughout history has been matching people from one extreme of race and culture to another except me. Because of this, all manner of evil labels have been put on me. What do you feel? Is it a good thing for me to do or not? (Good.)
Suppose there is a white couple, each with brown hair and blue eyes. If they face one another and smile, there is not much excitement. To look at a spouse with the same color and same shape of face and the same kind of eyes and nose is not so stimulating. But if a female has golden hair and blue eyes a male with black skin and black hair face one another and smile lovingly, there are so many different exciting things to observe. Which couple looks more beautiful to you? (The second.) When the sun is shining on these two couples the interracial couple will shine far more, because of so much excitement and stimulation. Which couple would attract His attention more, the first or second? (The second.)
I have matched many couples inter-racially. Now I am paying attention to what kind of children they will produce. They should be beautiful children, masterpieces of various and harmonious traits.
In a flower bed do you want to see only white flowers? How about only yellow flowers? Have you seen any black flowers? Black is the most exciting love color. What do you think? We all like unification then? (Yes.) It is the most natural state.
THE VALUE OF SYMMETRY
Suppose we had only one eye. If you have only one eye you must tum around 180 degrees to look over here. It is dangerous, because you might bump into something or hit someone. You have to tum your body. The rate of accidents might double. If you only have one nostril, the air will have a difficult time passing through.
Peter Kim: Father tells me that my translation was not all that interesting. (Laughter.) But you know what I meant, right? (Laughter.) Having two eyes and two nostrils makes it far more convenient to see and to breathe.
What if we had only one lip? (Father laughs.) If our upper lip were shorter and our lower lip longer (Father makes a face to demonstrate), when you try to speak your mouth will look twisted and unbalanced.
If you had only have one ear, you would have much more difficulty and life would become so complicated. If you had only one arm, when you wanted to scratch on this side you would have to turn around in circles trying to reach it.
We are created in perfect balance and symmetry for the sake of convenience and effectiveness. We need balance to maintain ourselves. If an animal threatens us, unless we have all of our faculties intact we are in great danger.
The pair system is so important. Most of our organs are paired. All creation is created in a harmonious pair system. Man and woman, mind and body, heaven and earth are opposite to each other and yet they are in harmony and balance. Like oxygen and carbon dioxide, they are entirely opposite and yet they live harmoniously together.
THE POWER OF LOVE
What is the force of this harmony? What brings harmony into being? If it were money it would never work, because everyone would want more. How about knowledge? Because we are fallen people, whoever has a bit more knowledge tends to look down on one who has less. The one will demand the obedience of the other.
If you have more love than another person, would you do the same thing? The person who possesses more love would try to obey the other person. If you love someone, even at the risk of your life you try to invest yourself for your beloved. It is a characteristic of love that giving more generates even greater love. You can embrace all five billion people of five races in your arms. Does it make you feel good? (Yes.)
Some of you may feel that I only say this way because I already have the most beautiful Mother. (Applause.) However, if Mother were black and so huge that she could not fit in any chair, with a biggest nose and ears, some of you might think I would not love her.
To be called the king or queen of this world might mean having the biggest eyes, biggest nose, and blackest color of skin. White is not such a special color. Neither is yellow. Therefore, black could be just fine. Even if she has all big organs (laughter), there is nothing unnatural about it. If I were totally in love with that kind of exemplary Mother, would you welcome that? (Yes.)
How could I be totally in love with that kind of Mother? Only through the power of love. Love power is the only power that can totally intoxicate me. I would be totally in love just by looking at such big eyes. When a tear the size of an egg dropped from such large eyes (laughter), I would receive it. Only the power of love can do that. Everyone might spit at her because to them she looks ugly, but I would be in deepest Jove. It is a natural conclusion that if there is any power that can make you feel the beauty of the universe, it is the power of love.
If you are under the spell. of love, even if your spouse’s face is scarred. from chickenpox, you will think of them as a lot of beautiful small containers. Then when the rain comes and a lot of water remains there, you would drink that water. (Laughter.) How enjoyable! (Laughter.) It would not be a strange £ace but a special face. That is the symptom of first love. No matter how ugly your beloved may appear, you will remember that face for all eternity. Love has a strange power.
THE RANGE OF LOVE
Do you like unification then? (Yes.) Centering upon what? What central element do you need? (Love.) Knowledge, money and power are all temporary. However, the power of love is eternal God wants eternal love.
Love cannot exist in isolation. One can only find love through one’s object. That is why man absolutely needs woman and woman absolutely needs man. Because of this absolute need you can find absolute love. True love dwells in an absolute being, upon an absolutely unified, eternally unchanging foundation. God desires to be the eternal, absolute owner of true love. Through true love we are connected with eternity.
Those who want eternal love raise your hands. Why do you raise your hands? (Laughter.) Where do you want to see your eternal love located, at the bottom or on the top? (On the top.) Would you like to see your eternal love confined in a small space or in a wide open universe? (The universe.) Would you like eternal love to be ski11 deep or bottomless? (Bottomless.) This is Love from all different angles.
Love extends in all possible directions and creates circular movement. It is as if your home were the axis and you are creating a big circle covering the entire Asian continent, then another circle covering the American continents, and another circle cover.mg Europe. You can create all kinds of circles, maybe lip to the sky and down into the ground.
In breathing, if you keep on inhaling after one minute or so you will faint and fall down. To maintain harmonious balance we inhale and exhale.
Think of yourself as passing through the zero position. When you observe someone walking, each step passes through the zero point. Perhaps you want to stand alone on one foot. Does that look good?
Homosexuals are like two people standing on one foot and limping along. (Father demonstrates.) It is ‘like watching a three-legged race.
THE INTENSITY OF LOVE
Do you have to live alone or do you need your spouse? When husband and wife fight, it usually occurs between couples who live together every day. If you are far away and miss each other so much, then there is no ro9m for fighting with your spouse. You can start fighting only when the loving feeling falls flat. If your love life is flattened to the ground level, then you start seeing the bumps and protrusions under your partner’s character; only then there is room for fighting. Suppose a law stated that husband and wife could meet only every three months: then they would miss each other and have no room for fighting. If you met your loving spouse only once every three months, do you think you two would fight? (No.) After three months of separation, when you meet your spouse for the first time, you open your mouth as big as possible and jump on yam· spouse and try to bite. The amazing thing is, even though your spouse comes at you with a lion mouth and tries to bite you, you would kiss that mouth before he or she could bite you. There is no concept of fighting there.
Usually husband and wife fight when they stay together day after day and sleep together every night. Some discrepancies come up and then they fight. The fight often comes about when a husband wants to make love to his wife and she refuses. Or visa versa. You should not do that. Fighting between husband and wife usually sterns from their love relationship.
If you truly are determined to keep the standard and intensity of your first love experience throughout your marriage, there will be no fighting, no separation. Love does not belong to yoi1. Love should belong to your spouse. Only then does love become yours.That is why we need unification. Unification begins when you offer yourself to others, not when you take from them.
When you stand facing one another, palms together, and push, if one side gives up and moves back, the retreat of the opposing power propels the other side forward more rapidly. We can apply this theory to the relationship between husband and wife who oppose each other from opposite sides. Due to the power of love, if the woman yields in order to create unification and harmony, everything speeds to unite them.
Between man and woman, who usually grows tired of the love relationship in their marriage first? Which of the two is physically stronger? (Man.) You claim that man is stronger. In one night, the husband might be able to make love two or three times, but for the woman once is enough. In that sense who gives up first? (Woman.) God created woman like a valley and man like a mountain top. How to build a balance between them is the question.
By nature women are more emotional and sentimental. It is a good idea for women to try to embrace every aspect of creation in her love for her husband and not limit herself to one way of loving. Mothers are like a container that can produce many different children. It is similar to creating an entire circle. Women have the ability to contain such emotions and feelings, whereas men are more vertical. Men want to give everything at once, but women are like 360 degrees; with more room, they also have more potential to go astray.
THE DIMENSIONS OF LOVE
Therefore, I encourage you to have more children. As you have more children, you can discuss how each time you make love it is like the love of one of your children. If you have twelve children you will experience different types of love. The father of those children gave the seed for the different types of love expressed in each child. The wife and children receive this. Therefore, the children wish to return something back to their parents.
If you have twelve children and you wish to make twelve different kinds of representative love with your wife, it would mean that you would make love as husband and wife every two and half days approximately. After you are married, how often do you make love? Every three days? Every night? If love is something good that everyone should enjoy in the truest sense, don’t you think it is better to make love every day? (Laughter.)
Another way to make love to one another is to try to make it represent each of your organs. If you focus on that you will be able to enjoy much more. There is more excitement in it. Your organs might be complaining that although they are a very important part of your body, you have never made love representing them. Your nose may also protest to you and keep punching you. (Peter Kim laughs as Father punches him, and everyone laughs.) We should make such exciting and meaningful love.
Every cell of our body wants to receive love, just as animals expect to receive love from human beings. The characteristic of sheep is to give absolute obedience to their master. If one whistle comes from the master they all follow. Even if you step on their feet, instead of biting you they give their hip to you so you may pull your foot out of the way. There is no resistance. That is where genuine obedience comes.
THE SCALE OF LOVE
When we say, Amen. Should we instead say, A-woman? (Laughter.) The sounds, “A-men,” naturally harmonize together. One is high pitch and the other low pitch. The meaning of “Amen” is “number one man,” and the number one man represents God. Thus to say “Amen” means you want to be close to God. If you proclaim that we have to say “A-woman” from now on, God will run away. (Laughter.)
What is my topic today? (Father writes on the board.) Is there any non-Korean who can read this? Repeat after me, Kae Chun Chui. Kae means opening, like opening a flood gate, Chun means heaven, and Chui means occasion, season or event. Are we talking about opening the gate 360 degrees, 180 degrees or just 90 degrees? (360.) What makes the opening 360 degrees, from zero point corning back to zero point? Is it knowledge and money? Even in making love, you begin from the zero point, reach the peak, and then return to zero. It is like conquering the top of the man’s head and coming back again to the bottom.
As we age, do we strive to go higher and higher or lower and lower? We want to go higher up to God. Every day we aim higher, until we occupy God. When you make love, if the scale of your love becomes smaller, can you conquer God? (No.) You create love as an individual and expand your love to the family level, tribal level and all the way up to God. It takes eight different stages. Viewed vertically (Father draws on the board), this expansion is flattened and will look like this (indicating the board). Don’t you want to become the representative central axis?
THE OBJECTS OF LOVE
You embrace one another as husband and wife and you also embrace your children. My conclusion is that through embracing your spouse you learn how to embrace your children. Would you be opposed to that? (No.) When you have a lovely baby, do you want to embrace and kiss your baby only once a day, or each hour, every minute possible? Any minute possible. Don’t you feel that you want to keep your mouth on the face of your lovely baby 24 hours a day? This is the mother’s heart.
However, you should not just love your baby. You should think of your baby as an extension of your husband. As you love your child in this way you should be able to see your husband in your child. It is fair to say that for every three times you hug and kiss your baby, you should do the same for your husband. Your baby is a training ground for building the husband-wife relationship.
From the mother’s point of view, her baby is also an extension of herself. It is like enjoying the fragrance of a flower of your love. Without the husband, the baby could not exist. With-out the mother (wife), the baby could not exist. The mother takes care of the baby all day long while her husband is working. In the evening when the husband returns home, he will run to the baby and give it a hug and kiss. The wife watches this and feels grateful for her husband’s appreciation of their baby. Such emotions should empower her to serve her husband even better at night when they make love. She should be willing to do so. You should not lose this opportunity; it is a treasure in your family life. If you lose it then it will become hell.
It is logical that until the wife reaches the age when she cannot have any more children, the husband and wife should continue to have babies. The feeling of love between husband and wife is kept fresh through their babies. Once the woman loses the ability to have children she feels miserable. Once your menstruation cycle ends it means you are unable to have children. Therefore, through raising your children you can revive and refresh your feeling of love. If you have many babies, then even when you reach menopause and are unable to give birth anymore, your memories of raising your children will remain with you. Then you should be a protective fence for your children to create the same love cycle.
When you join the spiritual world, you will observe that those mothers who raised many children on this physical earth will be in a higher realm. We can apply this principle in our lives as Unification Church members. If we raise many spiritual children, which is more difficult than raising our own physical children, then we will be in a good place in the spiritual world.
THE MATURING OF LOVE
Usually American women invest a lot of time and effort into putting make-up on their faces. I wonder whether you have put as much time and effort into loving your husband as you have to applying make-up? Even until death women still make up their eyes. This is not normal from the viewpoint of the world of love. “Not normal” means “going to hell.” There are some women who do not consider their husband to be as important as their rouge and lipstick.
If you drop all of your make-up but pay complete attention to truly loving your husband, you will be a happy woman. If your husband is old, you can compliment him on his lines and tell him they make him look distinguished. Then your husband will feel very good. You can say that his wrinkles show how much love he has as a human soul. Just imagine how happy such a husband would be! If your husband’s hands are wrinkled you can regard the lines as the result of love; you have touched each another so often in love that his hands are wrinkled. If your husband’s chest is scrawny, still you could encourage him by telling him. that because he gave you so many hugs he is left with only bones now. (Laughter.)
That is the only way for God to be happy. Think about how old God Himself is. According to the absolute love standard, whatever belongs to your lover should be the absolute object of your love–even his wrinkles and bald head. If any woman thinks this way she is very fortunate. Does this make for happiness? (Yes.) I say not so happy. (Happy.) Your sound is not very exciting; you have to be able to beat me in this contest. Not so happy! (HAPPY!) You should have given that kind of excited response in the beginning. Instead, it is like kicking a mule to gain a response.
This is the first time that I revealed such an explanation to all of you, including Mother. (Laughter.) I wonder, since I am growing old now, if Mother is getting properly educated today. (Everybody laughed, including Father.) This is a good chance to educate Mother. It is not a laughing matter.
Father and Mr. Kim converse in Korean, Mr. Kim trying to clarify Father’s meaning. Mr. Kim says: Don’t laugh at me, okay? Laughter.
Even when you sleep, you want to stay close and touch the blanket your spouse is using. There can be so much love that you keep biting the blanket to make sure it does not go any-where. Is that a happy couple or a miserable couple? (HAPPY!) Is that an ideal couple? (Yes.) When you are in bed together there are many different fish hooks. Would you rather sleep together with all five sensory hooks attached or sleep alone with no hooks? (Hooked.) Not hooked. (HOOKED!) Not hooked. (HOOKED!) (Laughter.) Everything becomes possible because of love.
THE REMINISCENCE OF LOVE
Even when you go out to the field for a walk, if you happen to see a beautiful flower, go and touch and kiss that flower remembering your wife when you do so. If you find an ant, touch it gently as if you were touching your wife. Don’t you think the ant will be happy? (Yes.) An ant is so small that you are unable to kiss it. Therefore, just give the sound of a kiss to it. Everything you see, feel, and touch in this natural world, do so remembering your spouse and out of desire to return love to your spouse. Then how wonderfully happy your couple would be! People with such a heart of love cannot but be happy. Do you understand? (Yes.) Nothing can compare with such a high, deep and wide love. How wonderful it is! How happy is such a couple? (Very happy.) God wants to dwell with such a couple.
If there is such a woman among the Unification Church women here, she is surely happy. Do you remember your husband’s face? (Yes.) Have you seen your husband’s crying eyes? Have you seen him when his mouth and nose are twisted like this [Father demonstrates]? (Yes.) Have you thought that the one person who can comfort him when he is in such a mood is you, his wife? We have to seriously think about this. You wives have to be determined to become such a wife that even if your husband is so sad or so hurt, you are able to make his eyes beam and his mouth smile within one hour. As a wife you should determine to be able to comfort your husband and soothe his pain so that he will find peace and quietly fall asleep on your lap.
If you try so hard to make him feel happy again and nothing works, then bring your album with photos of you at a young age. Show him photos of yourself with a diaper on or even crawling with your diaper half off. Then your husband will change his mood. After seeing all these photos of you in all your stages of development, he will look at you as a full grown, lovely woman and find something fresh that will make him happy. It is your responsibility to make your husband happy. I am giving you a tip here today.
THE MUSIC OF LOVE
On the other hand, if the husband comes home and finds his wife in a bad mood he should suggest that they go out and eat dinner together and help to change her mood. While you are driving to this restaurant you have chosen-I hope it is at least ten or twenty miles away-then in the middle of the road you can stop the car and begin singing the song you used to sing to your wife before you got married. As soon as she starts singing along with you then everything is fine again. After that you can drive to the restaurant and have a nice meal. When your stomachs are full, your feeling is full and you can come home happily together.
When someone is singing you need to give assistance by tapping or humming along with them. Likewise, you should help one another and support one another and through this you create your own happiness. When you hear this explanation, don’t you think that I am a great man? (YES! Applause.)
Actually, I am learning also. Therefore, please learn quickly and become even better than me. I want you to become better. I am pushing eighty now.
What is the substance of my talk today? I am giving you the secret of how to initiate the love relationship, how to make unity, and how to create balance and harmony. Where there is no balance all beings will disappear and be destroyed.
THE NATURAL FLOW OF LOVE
What I like the most is the unification. Today is the Foundation Day for the Nation of the Unified World. To achieve the goal of a unified world we should be able to support and flow with the rhythm of the world. Are you really ready to do that? (Yes.)
Among Americans, individualism is very popular, isn’t it? Will people with an extreme individualistic concept flow with the rhythm of the world? (No.) Does a truly loving husband or wife want to see the other focused on his or her privacy? (No.) Do Americans want their individual savings account or one joint family account? In many American families, each family member has his or her own account. Is it better to have one account for the whole family or one individual account for each member of the family? (One.)
We have millions of Unification Church members all over the world. Do you welcome the idea of us having one savings account? (YES.) That is the way we can unify the world. Only power of love can carry out the complicated process of realizing the unified world.
Do you like me? (YES.) Do you like Father or Mother better? (BOTH.) I am asking the sisters whether you love Father or Mother the most. (Father.) You should not hesitate to give that answer because it is natural. (Laughter.) You are in the position of daughters to Father and Mother. Usually daughters love their father more. Even if you claim to love me more, then Mother should be happy about it.
The object of love can be two-the vertical object and the horizontal object. Do you understand? (Yes.) A woman’s objects of love are her husband and children. A man’s objects of love are his wife and children. The children’s objects of love are their father and mother. Do you understand? (Yes.) Women have two breasts and two well-developed hips. Her breasts represent her son, her hips represent her daughter, and the vertical shape of her body represents her husband. Therefore, I am teaching you that without the experience of raising physical children here in this physical world, when you go to the spiritual world you will not be welcomed.
THE GATES OF LOVE
The second character in today’s title means opening. Chun represents heaven. The highest concept of heaven is the concept of love heaven.
Love is the only power which can open the door to the nation of the unified world. If love is the power, then one needs a ticket of love to open it. The Bible refers to twelve pearly gates through which people have to pass. God is the center of all humanity, including your children. If you have raised your children properly in front of God, that is your ticket of love. Even though there are twelve different gates and even though you may have to go around several thousand times, you will still be able to pass through with this love ticket. If you stick to just one direction without raising many different children and without going beyond the family level, you will be restricted and will not be able to pass through everywhere.
Because Jesus was unable to teach his twelve disciples to go through these twelve different gates, he was crucified on the cross. Judas sold Jesus. If we want to be truly welcomed in the spiritual world and pass through all twelve gates, we should be able to go and work to restore twelve different nations from the bottom to the top. Only by having that kind of experience will we truly be able to pass all different gates and cover the entire kingdom. Are you interested? (Yes.)
Just because you have been born American citizen, does it mean you have to live here for eternity? (No.) If you want to live for three years in twelve different nations, it will take 36 years. In those twelve nations you have to serve people as,: though you were a servant, a servant of love. “My Pledge” contains the phrases: “In the shoes of a servant, with the heart of a parent, shedding sweat for earth, tears for man, and blood for heaven.” Do you want to live such a life? If you are treated miserably in twelve nations, it means you are following in True Parents’ footsteps and offering that much. That is where God’s blessing will be bestowed.
The word chong refers to servant; it can also refer to “a bell.” What is the purpose of a bell? To communicate news to far away. Do you understand? (Yes.) Through Kae Chun Chui -opening all the gates of love and becoming able to pass through all of the seasons-we can have the Kingdom of God on Earth.
I am teaching you to become the kind of couple who can cheer “mansei” with all five senses together, the kind of couple who can cheer for your spouse with that kind of excitement and sincerity. “Mansei for God” means for your husband and home at the family level. “Mansei for True Parents” represents mansei for your wife. “Mansei for the Unification Church” represents mansei for your children. The husband represents heaven, the mother represents earth, and the children represent humankind.
Are all the cells of your body totally united and excited to shout out mansei for your spouse and children? When we cheer at the end of each of our meetings, we are training to build an ideal family at home. You need to apply that same spirit to your daily life. Do you understand? (Yes.) Have you lived such lives until now? If not, learn from me through this kind of teaching. Make sure you come to my speech whenever I am here.
THE SENSITIVITY OF LOVE
Now it is already after 11:00 a.m. After two hours of talking I have hardly touched my main topic. (Laughter.) It may take all day. (Applause.) The ideal family you establish is more precious than 10,000 teachings and a million hours of preaching. The ideal family is more important than anything. Once you attain that you do not need any preaching. Do you understand? (Yes.)
One characteristic of love is that it can expand eternally or shrink. Love can be infinitely great or infinitely small. Love is so sensitive that when your loving husband gets on your nerves for just one flickering of a second, you feel sad. Usually divorce begins from some very small reason, because love has such a sensitive characteristic. Because of love’s sensitivity, it can also conquer everything. Therefore, stay away from fighting about love, because if you start having fights because of love relation-ship you will grow further and further apart from one another.
We hide our most valuable treasure where no one would notice it because there are a lot of people who might steal it. You have to wrap your valuables in a dirty rag which no one would want to examine. That means we must be very careful. We need etiquette, order and all manner of environmental restrictions and protective codes. There should be a border line.
There are certain restrictions to which women must adhere, likewise for men. Through understanding and digesting these norms and regulations, both men and women should be able to travel in and out of both sides freely.
When we speak of world we are referring to heaven and earth-the cosmos. What can bring about the unification of the cosmos? Only true love. We need to have a true love key. Since your couple has the true love key, your family is like a true love vehicle. This key can be used by the mother and father of the family, but children will be able to use it also when they grow up, because they are vertically and horizontally united. Do you understand? If your family establishes an ideal standard of love, you will be trusted by all your relatives and neighbors. They will freely allow you to use their car or anything belonging to them, because they realize the standard of your family.
PEOPLE RESPECT MY HIGH STANDARD
If you move into your home town as a tribal messiah you may be opposed on all sides in the beginning. However, if you continue to live by such a high standard, within ten years people will recognize and respect the value of your life. They will respect your family. Therefore, if you wanted to borrow some-thing from your neighbor you could easily do so because they would trust you, and they would feel free to borrow from your family. This kind of reciprocal relationship can be established.
Since I have manifested such an exemplary public life up until this point, many tycoons from oil-producing countries in the Middle East are offering to invest their money in the bank I have established. They do not really trust other banks. In Uruguay, our bank is the second largest, after the national bank. Usually when any crisis occurs people take their money out of the bank because they feel insecure. However, those who have invested in our bank do not withdraw their money. They trust me and know what kind of person I am. (Applause.)
Another example is a country in Southeast Asia that used to be communist. That country had a national development plan to build a power plant, railroad, resort area and hotels. There was severe competition among international construction conglomerates to get the contract. However, they selected our Korean construction company, Il Sung, not because of the credibility of Il Sung itself but because they trust and believe in me. The contract that 11 Sung won is for $1 billion. (Applause.)
I feel that $1 billion is not so much money. In fact, I spent $1.4 billion on the Washington Times over the past fourteen years. That is just one project. Can you say that I have a lot of money, or not? You may answer either way.
I am developing so many different projects: the University of Bridgeport, Sun Moon University in Korea, huge projects in South America. I am going to establish fifty newspaper companies throughout the different states. Can you imagine doing that by yourself? (No.) If you keep on following in my footsteps for the next ten years, do you imagine you will end up prospering? (Prospering.)
THE CRITICAL TRANSITION PERIOD
The Foundation Day for the Nation of the Unified World was proclaimed by me in 1988, right after the Olympic Games. I explained at that time how the Cold War began in 1950 with the Korean War and went all the way around and finally ended in 1988 with the Seoul Olympic Games. The Cold War began and ended in Korea. The Seoul Olympic Games had the largest number of countries participating. In fact, Kim Il Sung’s regime should have attended, which would have made 161 countries. However, they did not attend.
The athletes at the Seoul Olympics represented the second generation who came from 160 nations and were united in Seoul. This was truly a historical event. Through this event, the youth from the communist world and the youth from the democratic world united. Because of this condition, world communism began to crumble. Therefore, there was no reason for the democratic and communistic blocs to fight anymore. Only the foundation of unification remained. It was like the confrontation between Hebraism and Hellenism.
During the Korean War, sixteen nations sent their soldiers to Korea. Actually the United Nations forces emerged because of the Korean War, because until that point they did not have a United Nations force. Also I spoke in sixteen nations in the South American continental region. Now I am planning to give a worldwide speaking tour to 160 nations. Do you see the connection?
I am declaring here today that the twelve years between 1988 and the year 2000 are the critical transitional period for humankind. If the twelve major nations of the world are united then the entire world can be unified.
CONNECTING 160 FAMILIES TO 160 NATIONS
In the course of this twelve-year period, I declared the tribal messiahship mobilization in 1991. Through the tribal messiah mobilization the Cain and Abel positions were established. Upon this foundation I sent Mother on a speaking tour. Through Mother and the Women’s Federation of World Peace, women’s liberation began. True Parents also declared, “True Parents and the Completed Testament Era.” Through tribal messiahship, the Cain and Abel positions of the children were established.
Based upon the Cain and Abel children united with Mother, the base for me to emerge was established. This happened in 1992 when I declared the liberation of the world’s women. From the unity of these three positions-Mother in the Eve’s position, Cain and Abel-we could restore the original house. Then, Satan’s side turned around 180 degrees toward me. This is the bride’s foundation, the bride’s church, the Christian world. I can connect the tribal messiahs to the worldwide messiah, because I won that position. (Father draws on the board.) House messiah, tribal messiah, national messiah, worldwide messiah. The world opposed the home and the tribe. God and humankind are separated through eight degrees. How can they be connected? There was no way until now.
(Father continues drawing on the board.) God is plus and I am minus. We combine into one and come down as the world-wide messiah, national messiah, tribal messiah, and family messiah are connected into one. Satan invades the world in eight different degrees. Tribal messiahship involves saving 160 families. The tribal messiah connects to the national messiah and worldwide messiah. This large circle represents 160 nations. The small dot in the center represents you as a tribal messiah. The second circle represents 160 homes, the 160 families that you have to restore. The third circle represents 160 nations. Eventually all tribal messiahs have to reach out to 160 nations, through the 160 families that you restore. These 160 homes connect with the nation.
Through this process I can bequeath my foundation of victory to all 160 nations of the world. That is why this year’s motto is, “Let Us Inherit True Parents’ Realm of Victory.” Through Adam’s family we lost the entire world. As True Parents I am bequeathing everything to the entire world. Centering upon God, True Parents reach all the way down here. Then there no more obstacles will remain. Once True Parents have won the victory, it goes back up to God without any resistance. These are the stages (indicating the board) that the blessed couples should accomplish.
In 1992 Mother began her public work. Following this the 30,000 Couples Blessing took place. This year, as you know 360,000 couples were blessed. Our next goal is 3.6 million couples and then 36 million couples. (Wow!) It is no problem. Once we reach that goal, we can eliminate all the family problems in the world, particularly moral degradation, homosexuality, and family disintegration. All this can be eliminated. In the satanic world all these obstacles existed, but centering upon God, True Parents have won the victory at each stage.
We are coming to your level at the bottom, and we will begin going back to God. At each stage we have blessed couples, ideal families. The destruction began at the family level, so must the rebuilding process begin with the family. There are 160 nations, but it is all a matter of stages. We will develop and achieve our goal. Eventually when we attain our goal we will reach God and the place where God can dwell and operate freely.
The family of Adam and Eve was not supposed to go down but rather build the ideal family. Once this level is reached (indicating the board), God can come to our individual level to live freely with us. Without accomplishing our tribal messiahship we cannot reach our goal and God cannot come to our level. Once the family was lost, then the world was lost.
PROVIDENTIAL NATIONS
After World War II, the Christian world as the bride should have welcomed the Messiah as the bridegroom. There are two kinds of husbands. The vertical husband is God, and the horizontal husband is perfected Adam. After Adam and Eve fell, Cain and Abel followed Satan into hell. God could not dwell there. The real husband was chased out.
Unwilling to lose everything, God started the providence of restoration. The family base was lost at the time of Adam and Eve. Jesus’ time was the period of the national base. Jesus died on the cross and later expanded to the worldwide base. The formula is Eve, Abel and Cain. The nation of Israel was in the position of Cain while Judaism was in the position of Abel. The Eve position was Jesus’ bride. Centering on the mother, Cain and Abel were supposed to combine and connect with the husband, the bridegroom. That person was Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the true husband, the horizontal parent, the connection with God the vertical parent. Jesus’ home country was the Abel home, the plus, and the Roman empire was Satan’s home, the minus. How can they unite? Because Satan held the national base, it divided into many nations.
Now the United Nations has 183 nations. Satan expanded that much because he knows that God is looking to restore one nation centered on Eve’s religion. All other religions are arch angel religions. The mother religion and the three archangel religions-the four main religions-were to combine into one and build one world under God. After World War II, the Christian world was connected and heading in the direction of one world under God.
America needs to become one nation under God. America is the bride religion. England represents the Eve nation, and America was born out of England; thus they are in a mother-son relationship. Together with France, those countries were to unite representing one independent, Christian culture under God. Do you understand? The Eve nation, the bride nation, was to embrace Cain and Abel, the secular world and the religious world and connect with me to make one world under God.
Adding seven years to the year 1945 brings us to 1952. If Christianity had welcomed me, within those seven years the world would have been unified through tribal messiahship. The world would have gone into God’s bosom, resulting in one victorious, unified nation and world. Upon that base the Second Advent would have connected.
The Christian world consisted of almost one billion people. That quantity of people could have been blessed into a blessed family system. Maybe even in three years a unified world foundation could have come about. However, everything was lost. How can that be taken back? The Christian world cannot do that. God prepared that kind of victorious fruits for the Lord of the Second Advent. However, once the Lord of the Second Advent was chased out by Christianity, that fruit came under the dominion of the satanic world. God and the Messiah were chased out.
The world base formed one bride foundation. The three nations of England, France and America represented God’s side. Japan, Germany and Italy represented Satan’s side. The Axis nations represented the body, and the Allied nations represented the spirit. Mind and body were split. The fight between God and Satan expanded to the world base during World War II. Why? When True Parents were lost, the false parents appeared and everything went completely opposite to God’s way into hell. People can return to heaven during the Second Advent time. Once the Lord of the Second Advent establishes central ownership, everyone can return to heaven. Heaven is our original home. The Second Advent is the first opportunity for the individual, tribe, nation and world to belong to God. Other-wise there will be no way. This is the mission of the Messiah.
REBUILDING THE FAMILY BASE
The entire world came against me, calling me a heretic. Not only the Christian world, but also the communist world attacked me. Everything was lost. They chased me out into the wilderness. The Lord of the Second Advent is here (indicating on the board). God is here. They are separate. No matter how much I wanted to get there, there was no family base. Therefore, there was no hope. Satan completely invaded this world, including the Christian world, centered upon the family base. How could I begin re-creation? There was no hope. There was no bride, no Eve, representing the center of the world. The Christians came against the Messiah at the Second Advent. All the foundation was completely lost. One family was lost in Adam’s time. This time the worldwide family base was lost again in a fallen situation. How agonizing the situation was!
The worldwide foundation had to be prepared again. Four thousand years of history were lost. How can this be restored? We have to use the same formula of expanding the family base. How can that family formula be taken back again? This was my mission. Almost like a spy, I had to infiltrate and invade all levels of restoration. Everything was against m all religions, all people, all the communists, all the secular people. Satan wanted to expel me forever from the earth, from his kingdom. The satanic world concentrated all its power on hitting Reverend Moon.
That also happened in America. That means America is the worst enemy for me. However, if America were to cast me out, everything which God invested during His long providence would be lost. Thus, no matter how much difficulty I faced, I invested everything. This has been my course in America for the past 21 years.
How can this country be saved? This is the Abel nation. The international Unification Church members are in the position of saving America. You stand in the Abel position to America in the position of Cain. You have to love the American people. Representing Abel, we need to have a more patriotic spirit than the American people have. Do you understand? We must invest and forget. The Unificationists are in the Abel position, and America is in the Cain position. I invested manpower, energy, money, everything into America. America has lost its home. It has lost Jesus’ spiritual home. It has lost the world representative’s home. From now on we are taking back the individual home, tribal home, and national home. This course of unification is my course. I had to go over the individual, family, tribal, national and worldwide levels.
The whole world was against me, especially during Carter’s administration. Carter sounds like “cutter,” meaning to cut down. During Carter’s administration the free world retreated in relation to communism. The top students became communists, and communist ideology invaded all the free world. Communism invaded so many nations during Carter’s administration. They were able to win up to seventy percent, including formation and growth levels. After that it is God’s position. They could not go beyond seventy percent. During World War I and World War II, Satan’s side claimed seventy percent as their national foundation. In World War I, the attack came from Satan’s side. The same thing happened in World War II and World War III.
Since 1984 we have been introducing God’s new ideology to the entire free world. This was the Soviet political strategy for world expansion. I understood that. Gorbachev visited
America, and I created the Washington Times. He was chased out and I became his most fearful enemy. God’s side has to take responsibility, and that is what I did. After that I made friendship with him.
RECLAIMING THE NATIONAL BASE
Satan invaded the individual and family base in Korea through a prepared woman from an underground church. She was taken prisoner by the Japanese, and since I also was working underground, we were supposed to meet in prison through spiritual world guidance. Because she did not accept me, the Christian world was lost. The spiritual world worked against these people, and I began to receive persecution from all sides-from the family and society. Everyone said, “Oh! that Reverend Moon is a beggar.” You do not know about that. Satan’s side branded me the worst kind of person in the world, spreading all manner of bad rumors.
No matter how much people opposed me, I understood my purpose. My mission is not just a national mission or my own mission. In Korea religious people could not meet me, and I did not meet them. Ultimately Satan controlled them and pushed them to oppose me. Do you understand? This was the time of the national base. They hit me, and then I could claim territory. For forty years I was hit. After that people all over the Christian world could begin to change to my side. America also spread all manner of evil rumors about me which came from Korea, but I did not go down. Eventually I rose.
After one week of being taught the Divine Principle, people can completely change. The Divine Principle has become the most fearful armament of truth against the satanic world. The established churches always insisted that their members not come, hear, see or have any give and take with the Divine Principle teaching, but we were open all the time, day and night. They opposed me so much and spread so many bad rumors. If a bad guy is hit one time he goes down. Why don’t I go down after being attacked so much for forty years? It is an abnormal phenomenon. The realization is growing, especially among professors, religious people, journalists, and world leaders, that the only hope for the world is Reverend Moon. (Amen. Applause.)
Satan knows that I have a fearful truth. After forty years no country in the world can eliminate the power of Reverend Moon. In the United States I am powerful. The Washington Times is powerful on Capitol Hill. It exposed the wrongdoings of 77 members of Congress and spurred them to clean up. That kind of power exists. America is proud of its materialistic power. The family decline in this nation is so serious that politicians and even Clinton are taking steps to promote moral values. So many famous professors recognize my contribution.
Former President and Mrs. Bush are asking how they can connect with my wife. How many American presidents have visited the remote areas of Japan? This is a historic event. Do you understand? The nation of Japan was all stirred up. They did not believe that the Bushes would speak in Japan on behalf of Reverend Moon. The media all began fighting to attend once they knew it was true. All of their five senses were frozen when they attended. The national Japanese television reported it all over the country. People were amazed about this phenomenon. The Bushes appeared and spoke about the Unification blessing ceremony. Now Reverend Moon’s church is perceived as not so bad. (Applause.) Not so good, or not so bad?
Now in Japan and all throughout the world, I have no fighting enemy. (Applause.) Whoever steps on Reverend Moon will fall down. In America, Russia, China, Japan, England, etc., all boundaries are being pulled down. We are moving out all over the world now. We are going to the remote countryside of South America. People are asking questions about that. I do so because I want to make friendship and brotherhood. Catholicism and Protestantism are older brother and younger brother. Now that the Parents have appeared on the earth, they should now follow me.
UNITING CAIN AND ABEL
The Old Testament, New Testament and Completed Testament must unite. That is God’s secret. Satan’s secret is how to disunite the world. We must understand this and make it a hundred percent successful. Such phenomena have to take place around the world. I have the realistic concept and the energy to accomplish it under God’s historical guidance. The Christian world does not have a real foundation. The Unification Church has a real foundation, unifying concept and reality.
No matter how much Korea may oppose us, they will be pushed down. No matter how strong America is, if they oppose us they too will be pushed down. I am creating a brotherhood. Do you understand? My position is that of Abel to the Christian world, which is in the position of Cain. The two need to join into one, then the Cain and Abel nations of South America and North America will join into one as the elder brother and younger brother.
When I met with the South American leaders I told them precisely what they must accomplish. I told them I understood their situation, and they listened. I am the champion diplomat also. North and South America should join into one and then combine with the European people, who are in the position of Cain. The Christian world should combine into one. Jesus lost Judaism. The worlds of Islam and Judaism must combine into one and go back to their historical root.
In Adam’s family, Cain and Abel were to connect with the mother. In Jacob’s family, the sons of Leah and Rachel had different spirits; they were Cain and Abel. The world emerged from the family base. Now they must unite into one. Every country is fighting at the worldwide level. The fruit of the Cain-Abel struggle is the North and South American providence. Mind and body began fighting after the fall. The fallen world is controlled by the flesh. Do you understand? We need to recreate men and women through blessed couples. This is rebirth. True Parents are working to recreate the family and return to the original base.
This is the nation of the unified world concept. For something to be widely all over the world, it must go over the national base. Originally God intended to have one nation, one world under God, based on love. Because True Parents and the true love connect every level that is separated, humanity can be reconnected to God.
Satan controlled the world through fallen human beings and expanded it to form hell on earth. This is the reality of modem American society. Children do not know their parents; husbands do not know their wives; brothers and sisters do not know each other. Everything is denied. Satan completely broke up God’s ideal base. God cannot get into this world and the lives of His children, no matter how He hard tries. How-ever, I appeared in one comer. I challenged Satan, and he can only retreat. Satan’s most fearful enemy is Reverend Moon.
In 1992, the liberation of women took place, and 30,000 couples were blessed internationally; this was the worldwide formation stage. The 360,000 Couples’ Blessing was the growth stage. Satan began to scream.
All women are following me like sheep. Is the feeling not so bad or not so good? We almost have reached the goal, passing through the formation and growth stages.
I have been standing here talking to you in English, but God’s side must use the original language. The time has come for everyone to hear the message that the door of the Nation of the Unified World is wide open; every obstacle has now been eliminated by True Parents. Even in the middle of their sleep, people will spring up and ask find where they can find this message. This will now occur.
THE BLESSING DOOR IS OPEN
After we accomplish the 3.6 Million Couples’ Blessing, do you think those who want to get married will go and find their own spouse while everyone else is joining the Unification Church holy wedding? Everyone, including school teachers and parents and policemen, will have to answer questions about the meaning of the 3.6 Million Couple Unification Church holy wedding. Whether they like it or not, they will eventually hear about this and be attracted by this holy wedding concept. Is it a holy wedding or evil wedding? At every village level, if all civic leaders praise this holy wedding ceremony, then who could think of it as anything but holy?
While I was going around America giving this speech, different dignitaries introduced me, and newspaper reporters realized that many of these people had recently received the blessing from Reverend Moon. They were shocked. (Applause.) Some of them might have been so shocked that they wet them-selves! (Laughter.) Please keep on laughing so I can drink some water. (Laughter. Applause.)
You have to be a unified self. This means your mind and body should be in unity. Do you understand clearly? (Yes.) You have to understand logically. You understand that we need unification between husband and wife, and I have demonstrated what kind of unification. It is reasonable that a couple might feel a little distant for a time. After all, how did they meet? Through a picture matching. Therefore, they need some time. Sometimes it only takes two seconds to match two pictures. My record is that in one single day I matched more than 4000 couples. (Applause.) Even if you have to count 8,000 different photos would it be a simple task? (No.) But the matching went like lightening.
There are many miraculous stories among these matched couples. Many of them saw their matched spouse in a dream or vision. Sometimes they remembered exactly the shape of the faces. Then after they were matched they realized their dream had come true. Can you understand that? This happened even when I matched so fast! (Applause.) Parents of our members expressed surprise. They could not imagine how I could do that. I told them that is my authority and no one can interfere with it. If the picture is not the right position, my leg does not move and my hand is pushed away. I am revealing to you some secrets about the power and authority behind the scenes. Even though the satanic world opposes me, still I trust you and so I can reveal this.
For each one of you, I invested so much spiritual power and providential significance in blessing you. Thus, if you consider rejecting the match, separating, or divorcing, you will be punished.
I am an expert liar, right? (NO.) Well, the entire world calls me a liar. They say that I became successful by lying. Today I am telling you to please pack your bags and leave the church. (NO. NEVER.) Never? No.
I AM TRAINING LEADERS
Have you seen me acting like normal Christian ministers, holding the Bible in my hand and visiting someone at their home and welcoming that person? (No.) I do not care whether they come to me. When they do I often speak roughly to them. As a holy minister I sometimes hit or kick women when I speak. (Laughter.) Men can bear some beating but not women. Why don’t some men sit in front here? (Laughter.) If this sister left the community she would criticize the Unification Church and say that while attending service at Belvedere she was hit more than twenty times by Reverend Moon. (Laughter.) She may declare her amazement that people consider me a minister. (Laughter.) She may accuse me of speaking for many hours.
Perhaps I will be accused because people say that members have to leave their homes. However, I know that you stay because the longer I speak, the more exciting it becomes and the more truth is revealed. (Yes. Applause.) Even if you sit here all day long you do not feel pain. You watch me speaking as an an old man who is nearly eighty, but as the hours pass I get even stronger. (Laughter.) Instead of becoming pale and fatigued, my face becomes brighter and my spirit more vigorous, ready to catch even a lion. (Applause.)
Whenever you see the sign written on this banner today, please understand that the victory I have won goes from the individual and family levels all the way up to the cosmic level. Understand that because of the foundation I have laid we now have the privilege to read this proclamation and live in this special time period.
I may have enough influence and power to decide who will become the next president of America or next leader of Korea. (Applause.) When I made such announcements in public right after I came to America, the CIA and FBI became so upset. But now they recognize that whatever I say is right. If there are any FBI or CIA agents present, please report to your boss that on this day Reverend Moon made this kind of comment.
By their own analysis and evaluation, they thought that since I announced that I would bring America and Russia under my wing I would make a quantum leap, as if I could fly to the world just like that. On the contrary, they see me retreating all the way to South America and staying in a small fishing village. It puzzles them. I sent all the Unification Church leaders to their home towns with the title of tribal messiah, to places where I have no foundation. This puzzles them too, However I have such a foundation that no matter where they were sent, if I call them they will come.
Those Japanese women who married American men, raise your hand. Probably in the future the rest of you will have American husbands as well. Prepare yourselves.
Do you think that I am strong or weak? (Strong.) I have physical power. If you truly listen to me and practice what I teach you may become a congresswoman, the wife of a congressman, or even the first lady. To become the first lady of America you have to become an American citizen. But maybe I will be able to change that. (Applause.)
Even though I am almost eighty, I do not have American citizenship, because I do not have any political ambition in America. However, I may be raising up potential leaders of America here and there. Even if you want to run for Congress in this country, you have to have been an American citizen for at least seven years. I am still a green card holder. Therefore, you cannot think that I am seeking political power for myself. My desire is to educate, train and raise up potential leaders of America and of the world so that they may build a better America and a better world. Don’t you want that? (Yes.)
I am a unifier. On the individual, family, national and cosmic levels I have been standing in the forefront, bearing the flag, and winning the victory for forty years. This is the record of my life. I am like a person who conquered Mt. Everest and made handholds and footholds so you could climb up as well. Until I overcame these obstacles I did not need my family. I had to go over them by myself. In other words, I have climbed Mt. Everest and can now give this blessing to the world equally. Satan’s stain will disappear. (Applause.)
ABSOLUTE FAITH, LOVE AND OBEDIENCE
When you receive my words you have to make three major determinations: first, to have absolute faith; second, absolute love; and third, absolute obedience. This is the model you need to always remember. God created the world and Adam and Eve according to these absolute criteria. Absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience is our motto.
God expected Adam’s family to achieve this level of absoluteness. However, they failed and we lost these absolutes. Therefore, Unification Church blessed members should live up to this standard. Do you understand? (Yes.)
God is the subject of these three absolute concepts. God created every creature, including Adam and Eve, upon this foundation of absolute love, absolute obedience and absolute faith. Since Adam and Eve occupied the highest position, they had to follow the same commandments as God. In His absolute love, God wanted them to become His object and love partner. Their personality had to be a complete vacuum to become God’s absolute partner. God invested His absolute power all at one time into an absolute vacuum. The content of the commandment was to actualize absolute faith, absolute love, and absolute obedience.
However, everything was lost. The original home was lost. “Restoration” means to go the opposite way. “Restoration” means to return to the original point and go over it.
This is not my idea. It is God’s original idea. It was God who originally created everything upon those criteria. The restoration providence starts from that point. Restoration means to restore these concepts as husband and wife, parents and children, families and other families, tribes and other tribes, nations and other nations, and finally the world. Otherwise we cannot become one with God.
If we all live up to this standard don’t you think that this would be an ideal world? Between your eyes and nose is there absolute trust, or do they harbor some mistrust? (Absolute trust.) If your brain commands your eyes to do something, do they absolutely obey or do they tell the brain that they need to think about it first? (Laughter.) Do you think that your eyes would say that? (No.) Suppose you are driving along and notice an obstacle ahead of someone. Immediately your eyes will warn your mouth to shout out a warning. But will your mouth refuse to do it? When your brain gives direction to the legs to walk, the left and right legs automatically take turns and move forward. Do you imagine that the legs would have to pay close attention to whose turn it was? No. The movement flows automatically and naturally. Absoluteness dwells in that naturalness.
God is our vertical love brain, and True Parents are our horizontal true love brain. The spiritual brain and physical brain are waiting for a command centering upon true love. Then every action is enjoyable. When you go to see your beloved, do you hesitate? (No.) You can overcome any obstacle and can go to see him or her day and night. You husbands, have you thought about giving your absolute love, faith and obedience to your wives? (Yes.) If there is a limited amount of food, do you try to eat it yourself or give it to your wife first even if you are hungry? (To my wife. Laughter.) After giving your answer you laugh. Therefore, the answer you gave is not true.
THE INFLUENCE I ACHIEVED IN PRISON
Remember, unification only comes on the basis of the three criteria of absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience. My life is based upon absolute faith; thus, no one can influence or sway me. There is no compromise for me. Even during my incarceration, I had absolute faith that something else would be provided through such a trial.
Because of Danbury, I realized even deeper the misery that America is going through and the difficulty of its situation. Therefore, I shed many tears. I saw young men and learned about their parents, their environment, and the kind of influence they left behind. All kinds of stories came up. Through that experience, I truly understood what America was all about. I made a stronger determination to change this kingdom of hell into the Kingdom of God on earth. (Applause.)
After I was in Danbury for a while, I was told that some people there had decided to observe me for three weeks and if I did not meet their expectations of a good person, then they would eliminate me. That can happen in prison. However, they all became my friends. When they went to visit their families for a few days, they would report to me on their return. When good food was sent in for them they would offer it to me. When their wives and parents visited they always wanted to introduce them to me. (Applause.) After six months in prison, if I was proceeding down a hallway, anyone walking that way would stand against the wall and make a path for me to walk comfortably. They showed that kind of respect. You know that I have that kind of power. That is why there was no accident during my stay in prison.
At the end of my term, the prison officials were worried about having too many people at the gate of the prison welcoming me. Therefore, they let me leave through a small rear door so that no one would know when I came out. I was sup-posed leave at 9:00; however, they let me go at 4:00 a.m. and had me wait someplace else until everything was quiet. Within a month of my departure there was a murder among the in-mates, and all kinds of crimes were committed. Later on the prison officials testified how influential I had been and how I caused peace and stability in the prison.
Every Sunday at 5:00 a.m., I said Pledge by myself. Then three inmates joined me; eventually more wanted to join. However, I did not want to cause a commotion so I limited it to the three. Even now, if I send a letter to those inmates they would love to come and see me. However, since they are convicts, you might all run away. Therefore, I do not do that.
Wherever I go my leadership is outstanding, and people accept it. While I was in Hung-nam prison camp, I gained twelve disciples. Among them there were three who had been instructed by the spiritual world to become my followers. When I escaped only three of them were able to come out with me. This cannot be done by force; it has to be done freely. Therefore, I am the most fearful person to the satanic world. In the midst of such difficult opposition, I have been prospering.
This was my secret method for becoming a leader even in the prison. I use these criteria wherever I am. If there is someone younger than me I treat him as a younger brother. Some-one older than I treat as an uncle or elder brother.
THE COMPENSATION OF LOVE
In the darkness when we see a light we are drawn toward it. Love’s light makes such a beautiful atmosphere that no one wants to leave. Love has that kind of revolutionary power. It is most precious. Do you understand? As long as you live up to this standard you will never perish, because God will follow and protect you.
Throughout my entire life I never thought of using anyone for any purpose. I always gave my total trust. As long as my total and complete trust is in people, even when they turn around and betray me still I do not lose, because a much greater compensation will come back to me through some other means. The Unification Church has been cheated, betrayed and abused by so many different people. Our survival is almost a miracle.
If someone whom I trusted a great deal betrays me and leaves with a bad taste, God sends me someone who looks almost exactly the same but who has better qualities; then better results come. Often the new person will be almost identical to the earlier one in behavior and mannerisms, but internally he is a much greater person.
Whenever I have been betrayed by someone, I never curse them. Instead, I feel that they are like my children who are making a mistake and are temporarily away from me. That is the kind of heart I keep. That is why God pays me back with an even greater person. Children may leave their parents be-cause of some upset feeling, but they cannot cut themselves off from their parents. In the same way, those who have experienced a true love relationship with True Parents and leave can never forget me. They never forget that experience. When-ever they happen to meet me again they are in tears, because their original mind is operating. I have stayed up all night, going without food and sleep, to give all kinds of guidance to those who left me. I did not do it for myself. Rather, I invested in them for their own sake and for the sake of this entire world. Their original mind knows this.
Are you hungry? (Laughter.) Since we are hungry let us conclude. Almost four and half hours have passed without me realizing it. Do you understand me this morning? (Yes.) Let’s conclude.
With the heart of this teaching we can unify the entire world. My intention was to give you a detailed historical explanation this morning. However, I am giving you a simple conclusion. I am sorry. I gave a speech in 1988 on this special day. Please find that speech and read it. Each year on this day I gave a special speech. If you can find all eight, please read them. If you know Korean you may be able to read them without difficulty. However, if the speeches are not translated into English you may have difficulty. But go ahead and do it anyway. (Yes, Father.) You do not speak Korean, do you? (No.) I like your determination but there may be no English translation.
During the ceremony at East Garden this morning I told people about this. Now I am telling you here in public this morning. My teachings over the last forty years will be heard by billions of people 24 hours a day, e very day. Eve n if I join the spiritual world, tape s of my speeches will be played and re played throughout the entire world. All the nations will play tape s of my speeches so people will be able to listen 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, all throughout the world. The message is that precious. That time is coming.
Do you truly understand how precious my message is? (Ye s.) Through this message you can pave the way so that God can come down to you. This teaching shows you how to become God’s son and daughter. Do you understand? (Yes.) You must go beyond the three criteria give n by God at the creation of Adam and Eve.
THE CONCLUSION OF LOVE
When you overcome all obstacle s in pursuit of your goal to reach this absolute standard, going beyond the level of the original Adam and Eve, you will meet God face to face for the first time in tears. Do you think it will be a happy experience or a sad one? (Happy.) Will you shed tears of joy or tears of sadness? We lost everything with tears of sadness. Therefore, we have to re store everything back with tears of happiness.
Have you ever felt so moved when you me t me face to face? You should be able to go beyond the level of heart that longs for your parents and achieve that level of heart toward me. Like a son crying out of longing for his parents, you male Unification Church members should experience this heartistic feeling toward me. You have to go beyond that level. Looking at yourselves you can see how far you lag behind.
A son of filial piety makes his parents cry a lot. What kind of tears do such parents shed? The challenge of your life time is how much can you make God cry. Do you understand? In my life, there have been so many times when I made God cry. Do you follow me? (Yes.) The re fore, please, during your lifetime create circumstances that will bring Father and Mother to tears. If there is such a son and daughter in this world, no matter how distant they might be, we will feel like running there anytime, day or night. However, I do not see many children like that. Do you understand me?
In conclusion, we must go beyond the absolute standard which God gave to Adam’s family when He created the m. We have to aim beyond this level. The n we can build the Kingdom of God on Earth as well as in Heaven. To reach that goal we must often be in tears. We have to be able to make God cry. Had Adam and Eve re ache d perfection without falling, God would have come down and embraced the m in endless tears of joy. God is waiting for the day when He can me e t you in such a situation.
When I join the spiritual world, will God will come down from His throne and give me a hug, or will I have to run to hug God? We will hug and kiss in tears of joy and happiness. That is the final goal of a son of God. It is that serious. That is my goal, and I am adjusting everything according to this goal. Whatever problem you may encounter in your life and family, your standard and your solution should always come from God’s point of view. If you always refer to God’s point of view, your conscience will automatically tell you what will make God happy and what will make Him sad. If there is a proper direction, you have to follow it regardless of the obstacle s. Do you understand?
My life has proved this. Because of this absolute faith and conviction, I have been able to do so many great things. Do you understand? (Ye s.) We have to experience this he artistic world. This is restoration through heart. Those who have ab-solute conviction and can make a pledge today to God and me that you will become such a son or daughter and build such families and even the Kingdom of God on Earth, please raise your hands. This should come naturally through exercising true love. Even without thinking, this should come automatically and naturally. God bless you.
