Father’ speech to east coast leaders at east garden, on July 20, 1986 which marked the first anniversary of Father’s imprisonment in Danbury, Connecticut. After the Sunday Pledge at 5 a.m., Father took the opportunity to speak to his children for about two hours.
Two years ago today, on July 20, 1984, I departed for Danbury. How many of you were here to see me off? As the world situation turns and changes, Danbury marks an axial point. Danbury is where I bore the cross. I bore all the evil accusation and persecution upon my shoulders by going to Danbury, and I paid indemnity for the sake of the world.
This was the most crucial, extraordinary indemnity, paid to restore the lost 40-year period from August 1945 to August 1985. After my freedom was obtained in August 1985, I totally devoted the following 120-day period to the unification of Christianity; the Unification Church and the other Christian churches came together during these 120 days, centering upon the CAUSA movement.
Because of the fall of man, the separation between mind and body has come about: The world has formed two separate realms, one representing the internal world of spirit and the other the external world of physical reality. The love lost in the Garden of Eden was true, pure love. Satanic love developed a pattern similar to heavenly love, but with an evil content. After the fall, love was laced with deception. Fickleness and betrayal have been part of the history of love in the world ever since.
Satan claimed the body; therefore, the entire ownership of humankind was claimed externally through the body. By claiming the physical body, Satan could also claim the mind and invade the mind through the body. In God’s original pattern of dominion, however, God’s spirit comes in first through the mind, which is occupied by heaven, and then controls the body. That is the logical and natural sequence.
The archangel, who became Satan, transmitted sin to Eve, and Eve transmitted sin to Adam. However, this is also the reverse sequence of God’s original plan, in which true love would have flowed from God to Adam, and then to Eve and their children. When this natural pattern was lost, God’s dominion over the entire created world was lost as well. People in the world today do not realize that they are the inheritors of a satanic lineage. No matter how great an individual may be-whether a governor, a president, or even a saint-he cannot remove himself from the satanic lineage. All are dwelling in the same satanic realm.
As a person grows, the mind and body develop and start to grow closer together. When the time comes for the mind and body to unite into one, the love of God can enter in. God’s love should have been transmitted to Adam during this point in his growth; at that moment he would have become the inheritor of the full love of God.
WOMEN SHOULD FOLLOW MEN
Men are built to be masculine and to take a bold and initiating role. God created women to be feminine and take a passive, objective role so that they can follow men. This was God’s plan of creation. So you can easily imagine that Eve was smaller than Adam. When you look at the universe, you will see that anything that is large, powerful, and masculine always plays a central role. When you go to the mountains you see a lot of trees and bushes, but what does your eye pick out as the central point of the landscape? The pine tree. It is gigantic and powerful-looking and spreads out its branches very firmly, towering over the others. That pine is the center.
Here in the United States people talk about equality between men and women a great deal. Adam and Eve were created to be different, but centered upon what were they equal? They were equal as the recipients of the love of God. American people do not know this. American women sometimes say to Father, “Oh, Father is always on the side of the man; he always gives women a hard time’.’ But that is not true.
Suppose a man and a woman are walking down a path on a very dark night. All of a sudden a huge beast appears out of the bushes, threatening their lives. Would the man push the woman in front of him and hide behind her? No, the woman would automatically hide behind the man. She wouldn’t wait to be asked.
Men have broad shoulders. Women are meant to hide behind them; that is why they are built smaller. Women are meant to be protected by men. This is not Rev. Moon’s law, but the law of nature. The role of the center or subject is to protect all the objects. The first obligation of the subject is to protect, the second is to lead. Men should not follow after women; women are supposed to follow after men.
Because of the fall of man that chain of order and command has been completely reversed, and now men follow behind women, particularly with regard to love affairs. Men have become so helpless, and women always take command.
If it hadn’t been for the fall, when boys and girls grew up they would learn about their respective roles through the classroom of nature, through watching the animals. Look at cats or dogs or wild animals. When their babies are born their parents take delight in their offspring and want to protect them. Particularly the mother animal plays a close protective role. The female of every species is more interested in taking care of their young than the male. When we look at the way children play, we see this, too: Boys play with tanks, guns, and cowboy hats, and girls play at feeding and clothing their dolls.
THE SEED OF LIFE
Women are supposed to be in a position to receive, to be filled up, like a container. God built women that way. The man is the giver, the provider. Within him is the seed of life. The man, in the position of God or heaven, plants the seed into the woman, in the position of the soil or earth, who receives the seed and lets it grow. God is the duality of male and female; however, the original seed is related to the male portion of God.
God’s original seed, which of course is spiritual, is made into the physical seed in the body of man, who represents the male portion of God. Thus this seed becomes united with the flesh and is then planted in the fertile soil, which is woman. When the two are united and the seed is planted, that is what we call love. You must think, “From my father I received my bone, from my mother I received my flesh. Combined, they made me. My father’s love and my mother’s love united and at that point my life began’.’ The seed is transmitted through the giving of love; therefore, the person who has the seed plays the subject role in a love affair. As Adam and Eve grew, Adam should have taken the initiative, awakened the love within Eve, and moved toward Eve. This was natural and would not have constituted the fall.
Some might think, ‘All right, the male seed is inside of Adam, but there should be a female seed inside of Eve-that would only be fair’.’ But it is not so. Within God are dual essentialities; within Adam’s seed are both male and female potentialities. Look at my own children. Mother is small, but our daughters are bigger than Mother because they don’t just take after Mother-they take after me. Their seed comes from the father. God is the origin of both man and woman; likewise, Adam, in the position of God, contains both seeds, one for female and one for male. Thus the father is the subject of dual essentialities. [Editor’s note: In human genetics, ii is only the male sex cell that has both X and Y (sex-determining) chromosomes.] These are the laws of nature, not my own laws. We were all born according to universal principles, and we cannot go beyond them but must stay within them.
TRUE HUMAN RIGHTS
Today men and women have nothing to do with each other. A woman goes in her direction and holds onto her own rope of life, and the man goes in his direction and holds onto his own rope of life. How can we bring men and women together into one unified rope, the rope of true, original love? As men and women you must realize very clearly you are not just here to eat, sleep, and survive. You are here to hold onto the rope of love. Men and women must march forward together with the rope between them, guiding them. Satan wants to deny that very truth. Now, at the end of the world, especially here in America, women are saying, “Oh, we don’t need men;’ and men are saying, “Oh, we don’t need women’.’ Men have relationships with men, and women with women. They say they are practicing their human rights.
What kind of human rights is that? That which is destructive to human existence-is that human rights? Today there is rampant homosexuality, sodomy, and child pornography, all practices which deny the dignity of human existence. Human rights have to be harmonizing, unifying rights to promote the survival and continued existence of civilization.
Therefore, human rights must surround the rope of true love so that men and women can come together and latch onto it. Without this rope of love, men and women become very alienated and unhappy. Neither of them can find happiness. Men and women must take turns holding onto this rope, and thus success will be guaranteed all the way to the end. You have to be hanging onto the rope of love, which guarantees true human rights and provides the standard for the right way to live. That rope comes down from the parents and must be balanced by the man and the woman. Without two, the rope would be unbalanced. This is the power of love. The individual, family, nation, and world must all move in harmony with that rope.
God created a man’s physical shape for the sake of women; for what other reason would he have created men like that? Philosophers do not know why men and women were created. They were born for the sake of each other. Actually, it is difficult and inconvenient for a woman to carry around a large bosom and to have big hips. But they are there not for their own convenience. A lighter body would be much easier, but God gave this standard equipment to all women. A woman is born for the sake of her husband and her children. A child, when he touches his mothers’ bosom or hips, is showing a sign of love.
FROM HEAVEN TO EARTH
When a man and a woman show their love and affection, they start with kissing. This is the upper portion of the body, the head, which represents heaven. When a woman responds to a man’s kiss, that means she approves of his love. Then their display of love moves down to the central area, the bosom, then to the lower part of the body. A child is born from the mother’s womb, which is the lower portion; then the child drinks his mother’s milk from her breast, the center portion where love flows out; then the child starts to kiss his mother and learns to speak with his mouth, the upper portion. A child uses his parents as a jumping board, springing out of their bodies and going on to live for the sake of God. Children spring out of the love of God.
Love comes down from heaven; thus love is expressed between a man and woman starting from the upper portion and moving to the lower portion. In a reverse way, a child is born from the lower portion and expresses love upward, going toward heaven. This was God’s plan. No father objects that his child was born from a woman’s sexual organs. That is where you have sexual intercourse, and that is where you give birth to new life. No father would say to his child, “Don’t touch your mother’s bosom, that’s mine. Don’t drink that milk’.’ Or, “Don’t kiss your mommy, she belongs to me’.’
Parents’ love is giving, and they give the most precious thing they have to their child. This is how God wants to teach the world. How exciting it was when God gave birth to Adam and Eve! This was an incredible love affair for God and He wanted to show mankind His love.
As a baby grows he must have absolute supervision from the parents; otherwise he can’t survive. When Adam and Eve grew into teenagers God gave them a commandment in order to give them their freedom. Under this commandment God said in essence, “You are free. You’re on your own’.’ The entire problem of sin began during the teenage period. That is why problems among teenagers in our society have become so rampant. You must know that this is a signal that the end of the world is at hand. Adolescence was the time when sin originated, and that is how sin must be restored-through teenagers. At harvest time, the field was lost. Teenage problems are becoming worldwide problems today. Tradition, morality, value systems-everything is breaking down among teenagers. They deny discipline, and a logical chain of command.
Our society is fast becoming animal-like in its moral standard. Among animals, for instance, once baby cats or dogs grow up, they can have intercourse with their own parents or grandparents; it doesn’t matter. If humanity loses human morality and takes on animal morality, that will be the end of humanity. In America today rape and incest are rampant. There are millions of victims among teenagers today. Girls are assaulted by their own fathers, brothers, uncles, or grandfathers. With the right channel of love in the home there would be no way a grandfather could commit this kind of act with his own granddaughter.
The most vulnerable people in our society today are women. They are in a position to be victimized. Women have been utilized as instruments more than men. The men who follow after these women are also in the position to be victimized, so evil increases. Men must be principled men whom women can follow, and then they can be restored from their victimized position. This is not Rev. Moon’s word, but the word of the Principle.
So in conclusion, women must follow men. This is the most important thing. Why? Because only from a man can a woman receive true love. The same is true for a man-he can only receive true love from a woman.
In the West, only during prayer time in a church do people ever kneel down, but in the Orient people normally kneel down in daily life, particularly women, in order to show symbolically the subordinate position.
LEADING THROUGH TRUE LOVE
Since women took the major role in the fall, women must also take the leading role in the process of restoration. As women suffer more, and pay indemnity more, more divine, virtuous women appear. In Biblical history when nations were invaded by barbarian enemies, they always killed off all the men and took the women and children into captivity as slaves, servants, etc. This has certain historical implications.
American women-from how many men would you like to receive the seed for your child? (One.) Is that everybody’s answer out there? That is the only answer that will come out of a Moonie woman’s mouth. Suppose a woman bears a child by one man here, one man there, and one man over there-how miserable it will be for that woman and for her children as well. If one women serves many men and lives in different houses she will never be able to create a harmonious atmosphere anywhere, but only one that is hostile and tense. If her child is in a home with another woman’s children, she would have to somehow make incredible, secret maneuvers just to meet with her child. Is that happiness?
Love is more precious than life. This is the reason why in the Orient, especially in Korea, a women’s purity is the highest virtue. If someone acts with evil intent and forces a woman to give up her love, she would rather give up her life than to have to give up her virtue, because she doesn’t want to receive any more than one love.
Why is love stronger than life? Because your life is conceived in love. The origin of your life is love. Love always goes before life. When you have one husband whom you dearly love, how can you have illicit love with someone else? The Kingdom of Heaven is a place you enter as a family unit. When one woman has children from more than one man, then in the spirit world all her children will accuse her and say, “What kind of mess you created! We are all victimized because of your illicit actions and false love’.’ This is the most terrible thing in the spirit world.
Children want to live under one absolute set of parents-one father and one mother. They don’t want any more than that. Only a family with a standard of true parenthood can bring true brotherhood. When parents create an atmosphere of true love in the home, the children will become true brothers and sisters. It has taken many millions of years to untie the wrongdoing that has occurred. The knot cannot easily be untied.
True Parents are the center of true love, and only people of true love can communicate with them. How can men and women born out of illicit love and living under a false tradition ever encounter the True Parents? The dispensational process is one of engrafting. Engraft yourselves to the true tree and become a new seed and a new branch. Do you want to become a new tree of life?
True Parents’ thought, language, and way of life should be at the center of your own life. God knows that it is not easy for you to overcome your cultural habits, and He is taking great pains to try to bring about cultural harmony, unity and heavenly tradition, centering on True Parents. He is planning to accomplish this within three generations.

Your Blessing represents the Old Testament era; your children’s Blessing will represent the New Testament era; and your grandchildren’s Blessing will represent the Completed Testament era. The third generation will follow heavenly tradition one hundred percent. The present culture which is influencing the entire world-American culture as well as communist culture-will perish. A new, heavenly culture must emerge; otherwise you Moonies will not be respected or treated well in the future. I came and suffered here in America in order to bequeath the unified tradition to the Christian culture, which is ripe and ready to be harvested after its 2,000-year history. The new tradition must be planted in this country by bringing unity among Christian people.
In order to create the tradition of a new culture based on heavenly love, do you really think I should discuss matters with you? Adam and Eve, who were destined to become True Parents, had only God to consult with. The True Parents can only turn to God for advice.
Democracy is based on the ideal of brotherhood, but the ideology and system of government based on that ideal is not sufficient to bring unity between east and west, north and south. The original “ism” is Godism or “parentism” -not “brotherism’.’ “Parentism” is the ideal and ideology of true love, coming down vertically in a heavenly line and bringing men and women together. Man is like the right hand and woman is like the left; Adam, representing God’s love, unites with Eve. The sexual organs of man and woman can receive each other, harmonize, and become united, so that their two bodies can become one. Convex and concave components fit together as one and are immovable; their union is fixed and anchored. Love brings two bodies into one; therefore, love should be a vertical move ment, like a piston and a cylinder working up and down. They have to fit, and there is only one place the piston should fit-not two.
THE DECLINE OF AMERICA
There is no piston which ideally can fit everywhere. One piston and one cylinder must be uniquely harmonized so that the piston, moving up and down in constant churning motion, can produce energy. For example, without a perfect fit between piston and cylinder, an automobile couldn’t move. Symbolically speaking, the American culture today is trying to pull the piston up and forcefully and indiscriminately fit it into any cylinder anywhere. Everywhere today, even in the Congress and the White House, the problems of homosexuality, sodomy, and incest are being discussed. These are unnatural lusts, which undermine morality and pervert the culture. They are terrible in the sight of God. From the heavenly point of view, extreme perversions are choking up American life.
American young people are living in and becoming indoctrinated to accept this sort of culture. The environment is such muck! How can young people possibly think in a logical, pure, and healthy way? There is no unchanging principle, so their thinking and behavior are very changeable. There is no right or wrong, just the feelings of the moment. The American way of life is full of jokes and careless humor; laughing, Americans take their problems very lightly. “Oh, don’t worry, they will go away;’ they say. They just don’t want to look a problem in the face. As leaders you must understand that America’s problems will not simply “go away’.’
Knowing the will of Heaven, you must understand that now, no matter how hard America tries, it will fall way behind Oriental countries. The success of Japan today is the heavenly direction. History is moving from one area of the globe to another. The United States has enjoyed its golden era, but you are losing your heritage; so the blessing is quickly moving away. All the power and tax money of America cannot stop the corruption and moral decay here. You must become the recipients of Father’s tradition. How can you receive me? You have to be in the lowest position.
At Danbury I got a close look at the convicts: Thirty percent or more come right back to prison, and the percentage is growing each year. Even though your society is becoming more and more sinful, you somehow try to protect it-by having more lawyers, for example. This country is a lawyer’s heaven; they can create their own cases! Most of them do not act altruistically, but out of greed. They prolong their cases and make them more and more involved so that they can squeeze more money out of their clients. There are so many more lawyers here in America than there are in Japan! You Americans cannot easily see the failure of this country, but the person coming from outside can perceive its decline clearly.
When I created The Washington Times and The World & I magazine, I met with incredible opposition, stemming from arrogant and prejudiced attitudes. The American people did not like the fact that an Oriental was working so strongly in their country; they wanted me to stay away and not bother them. I had to take on extra suffering because of such attitudes.
Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the Soviet dissident who came here, was so totally disappointed in American society that he is now looking to Japan for permanent residence. After witnessing the incredible blunders and decline of his native Russia, he does not want to suffer through a similar failure in this society. He is placing his hopes in Asia.
MODELS OF FATHER
When I give the providential mission to Japanese people, they go straight forward-like the bamboo; but when I give the mission to American people, they zig-zag and flounder around, going this way and that. That is why democracy can easily be utilized by Satan, even more than by God. Compare yourselves with the Japanese and their tradition. They are different, aren’t they? Everything in America is the opposite of what they know-food, shelter, language, lifestyle-and very inconvenient for them. Their mission here is many times more difficult than yours, but still they are trying hard to move ahead. Put yourself in their position: Could you do the same in Japan or Korea? Also, we created the Unification Theological Seminary here in America. After ten years, where are the five hundred graduates? If we had created that school in Japan or Korea, the result would have been entirely different. The Korean theological seminary will begin its operation this year.
You may think that as long as the Japanese and Koreans are here in your country, you should not follow them and they should follow you instead; but you are wrong. They are not just “Japanese” and “Koreans”; they are models of Father through which Father’s tradition must be transmitted.
I am speaking to you quite frankly now because I would like to see you change your attitude and behavior. You are not quite adults in the heavenly sense. The term “adult” means that you have fulfilled the responsibility given you by Heaven; when you fulfill it, God grants you the right to adulthood. When have you completed your responsibility, centered upon the true love of God? Can you show me? No one has matured and grown into full adulthood.
Your wedding blessing was conditional; it was a contract with certain contingencies. You must fulfill the necessary, remaining conditions. You may think, because you are blessed and have a leadership position, that all you have to do is listen to my words. That is not so. When you were blessed you were restored to the position of Adam and Eve just before they fell; from that point on you must pass through the seven-year process of completion, or perfection. During those seven years, only through your hard work and good deeds can you fully embrace True Parents and unite with heavenly love, so that God can trust you. Only on that foundation can you become one with True Parents’ ideology and way of life-their ideal and truth and love.
FULFILL YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
No matter where I go, Satan can never accuse me. If I enter Satan’s cage, his own home ground, he will immediately recognize me and have no more business there. Even if I hold Satan’s hand and dance around, it is not because I am fallen, subject to be killed and sent to hell, but because I must save Satan! I am totally free. If I march into a bar or house of prostitution, Satan can do nothing because I go there for one righteous purpose only-the salvation of humanity. Are you at the same level now? No, because you have not fulfilled your portion of responsibility.
You have been given the right to be perfected, but to actualize that right, God requires that you fulfill your human responsibility. It is because you have not done it that Satan hasn’t written you off, yet; he is still holding you with his hooks. In order to fulfill man’s portion of responsibility, I established Parents’ Day, Children’s Day, Day of All Things, and God’s Day; these days mark victories centered on absolute truth which Heaven can recognize. Beginning at the individual level in Korea, and travelling a very arduous road, I moved up from the family to the tribal, clan, national and worldwide levels. Now victory is secured and perfected on the global level-so all you have to do is grab onto me! Become one person with me.
Man’s responsibility is to restore true love on the individual, family, tribal, clan, national, worldwide and cosmic levels. Therefore, you should follow the person whose own responsibility is done, like the engine of a locomotive. If you hold on tight and become one with me, you will go to the same place. You have your own wheel on the locomotive, but you are running on the same rail. As long as you run along my rail, you will be all right. Since my own responsibility is done, I am now trying to teach you as individuals and families how to restore the God-centered tribe and nation, for the sake of the world.
Once you are completely rejected in this world, there is no way to begin again except as a beggar. There is actually a quality of humility, nobility, and altruism in the actions of a beggar, and when the big wheels in society really perceive it in you, they will want you as sons and daughters of their own, despite your status. That is the way the world should see you Moonies. However, this course is not easy, especially for Americans. Within a few years, the American leaders get completely knocked out.
Why did I go to Danbury? Simply to lay the rail, to show the path of the victorious Adam, so that you can follow. I don’t need anything for myself, but East Garden and all that we have built in America will stand as part of the correct inheritance to be given to those who deserve it. That is supposed to be you. Are you really ready to receive it? From the other side of the hill of Calvary, I am pulling on a rope, fishing for you still. Don’t ever think that you are fulfilling your leadership roles satisfactorily: You must do more than Jesus who bore the cross; you must go beyond Calvary.
THE SPIRIT OF DANBURY
While I suffered in Danbury for 13 months, you Americans should have done ten times, a hundred times more than before. When I entered the prison, none of those criminals -some of whom were murderers-sympathized with me; but when I left, they were converted in a way. Nearly everyone bid me farewell, some with tears. While I was there I analyzed clearly and correctly how the secular American culture is hurting God’s worldwide crusade. I could not really afford to spend even one minute inside that prison from the dispensational point of view. Just imagine how pitiful God’s situation is!
I opened a door by going victoriously through Danbury. Now we are facing the final hill, the final battle. In Korea it has taken forty years to come this far; Japan has a twenty-year history, and America has a 14-year history in the dispensation. In this next seven years, the wrestling will be completely over. The United States government simply will not be able to deny Rev. Moon’s contribution. The White House and the State Department will not be able to deny the validity and power of the CAUSA ideology, because it contains a clear plan to save America.
When I pass over that final hill, it will not be easy for all of you to follow me. Will you walk back down the hill? That is not Father’s way. Go to the top of the hill and take off! Ascend into heaven. The spirit of Danbury can take us everywhere.
[Father begins to speak in English.) During this time, you represent all the American Moonies. You must clearly realize your responsibility and duty. You are in the position of the heavenly archangel, and from that position you must influence others. Can’t you see how serious I am? No one has really helped me. I’ve done everything all by myself. You cannot imagine how lonely my life is. It hasn’t been easy, but now I have achieved respect everywhere. You must protect me. I cannot discuss these serious matters in detail. True Parents are the only ones in their position in this world. This was God’s plan-to have only one set of True Parents, not two-whereas on the side of the satanic archangel there are many relative ideas and voices of authority.
For 6,000 years Satan has built up his foundation. An uncountable number of lives has been lost. All throughout this long, long history, Satan has continuously accused God, because He could not control His people. God cannot control Satan, either. This situation never should have been. Finally, the Messiah came on earth. He is only one man, not two; there is only one man to build the new foundation. I did it first, and now I must teach you the Father’s way. No one helps me. You may follow behind, but you don’t fully understand the providential purpose. True Parents represent mankind, and as Unification Church members, you must come to realize who they are.
I have made the foundation in Korea and Japan, and I have come back here in order to explain seriously how you can do the same in America. We are involved in the fight at the ford of Jabbok, and we must achieve the title of Israel. These are not just my words; they are the words of the Principle; this is the providential view. God knows it clearly, and Satan knows it, also.
You must really consider the American situation, and your own situation. You say, “We need Father, but we want him to do things the American way’.’ This is wrong. You have to correct the situation here; otherwise you cannot survive. There are no excuses, and I cannot accept any.
The world is rapidly changing. For the Soviets, the biggest problem is Rev. Moon. Now the Soviets are educating KGB agents to understand the Principle. They know America’s problems, and they know that you are capable of denying the principled way, even after following the True Parents for many years. When they come to question you, will your faith remain strong? Also many professors throughout the world are studying the Principle and listening to tapes of my sermons. They remember everything, because they are so impressed. How about you? How is your faith and position? I know very clearly.
No matter how difficult our situation is, we must undertake this final quest. You must decide your purpose. Because I have had to work in America, I have remained here, even after Danbury. But I must go to Korea soon. You must know my situation during this time clearly. Two years ago today I entered Danbury. Make up your minds; there will be no other chance.
REALIZE YOUR PURPOSE
As Americans, what is your purpose? It is to create God’s original ideal world, the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. That is America’s purpose, Christianity’s purpose-and the Unification purpose. When these three groups come to unite and work together, the whole world can change overnight! In forty years we will easily be able to educate four billion people through the television networks. Nowadays, in a split second you can be connected to anyone in any corner of the globe.
Who prepared this foundation? God did, not man. Why? Because the Messiah is here. This entire worldwide foundation has been prepared for this one short time period. And through whom will God complete this foundation? As Moonies you must realize your purpose and responsibility. Go to the churches, the schools, and the policymakers. Stop the American people from chasing God away. We must make the whole country welcome God, and reject secular humanism and materialism.
Both God and man seek true love. That is what True Parents bring. To express such love we must go the way of sacrifice, service, and education. That is the course of restoration, in which much indemnity is needed to solve the existing problems. We can stand on God’s side only on the foundation of sacrifice. We all must make our foundation of indemnity through the three levels of growth, and from the individual to the world levels. In the past, the tribes of Joseph and Zechariah, in the position of Cain and Abel respectively, could not unite; therefore, Jesus could not receive the Blessing as the representative of God. You received the Blessing, but Father made the foundation. Will you continue to stand only on the condition of Father’s foundation? You need to make your own foundation. I have been teaching you very clearly the way to go, and that is through home church.

You must make the tribal level Cain and Abel foundation, and if you open this door you will stand in the position of parents to your ancestors and be automatically connected to the national and world levels. You must start at the level of individual messiah, then grow to the level of family messiah, national messiah, world messiah, and finally universal messiah. I want to give this opportunity to you. I built the basement; the house and the rest of the property go to you-the next generation.
The only problem is, you don’t have the foundation of home church. No matter how much you may be struggling right now, you must create that base of home church. Without it, you cannot connect to the nation and the world through my foundation. This is clear. Jesus didn’t receive the Blessing, but you did.
I am making a foundation of indemnity on the world level. Who guides me? No one but God. God leads me; let me lead you. Listen and follow my advice carefully, so that you may follow God’s providential course.
I don’t like to see so many cultures in human society. I only want to see one culture, one nation, one lineage. This is the original concept of God. God has endured and suffered the longest in this world. God gave Himself completely to prepare the original ideal society. Through one original ancestor He wanted to create one culture and thus one ideal world. This seems like a simple and clear concept, but only Moonies know and care about this.
I lead the Korean people the same way I do the Americans. Koreans also go their own way and don’t like to follow the Unification Church way. The Unification Church holds mass weddings, but at a typical Korean wedding usually just one couple is married. Unification Church members live for the sake of the world, but most Korean people live only for the sake of their own family. All of society’s established traditions go contrary to the Moonie way.
Where do Moonies go? To the most miserable, cold, dark places. There, one by one, they influence the atmosphere and widen the path so that it is not narrow anymore. This is the path of growth of the Unification Church.
Our movement may have a lot of money now, but you must understand where the money has come from, what kind of historical suffering is behind it. For 40 years I concentrated on building a heavenly tradition in the midst of Satan’s world. I found inspiration even in the most miserable situations. I can never forget those times. People in the physical world easily forget about the suffering of others who went before them, but people in the spirit world, who are waiting desperately for the Lord, can never forget.
This is Satan’s world, and the Unification Church took on a heavy historical burden by fighting against Satan’s accusation. I have continually received miserable persecution, but I survived nonetheless.
Adam and Eve were supposed to be the True Parents-the king and queen of the universe, but they lost their palace forever. After 4,000 years Israel established the foundation to receive the Messiah, but Jesus did not take a bride or restore Israel’s national sovereignty. So True Parents still had to come into this world. The Bible says that Jesus is the bridegroom. A bridegroom needs first of all a bride, not necessarily lots and lots of people. When the Messiah finds a bride, that is the point when mankind’s physical rebirth can begin.
Even though the descendants of Adam are fallen, God cannot just destroy them all. They must be reborn and thus restore the original world of true love. If you do not participate in this process of rebirth you cannot connect to true love. God and True Parents stand at the center point and connect to all four directions. The Messiah wants you to inherit this love through 360 degrees.
Your root is from Satan, but the True Parents’ root is from God. If you engraft yourself to the True Parents’ tree, you will be able to make new fruit. That means you will become true parents yourselves and be able to bear sinless children.
Are you confident about bearing a sinless child? You don’t have a clear concept of what that actually means, do you? Are you as parents in a state of sinlessness? No. That’s why you have to teach your children how True Parents have lived their life. You have to teach them their tradition of indemnity and how they opened the way for these children to be born not as part of the fallen world but without sin. If the parents don’t have a clear concept of what this means, how will the children ever know?
After the fall, the world was occupied by sin. All people are stained with Satan’s blood. No one can escape that. The only way to get out of that realm is to go the way of indemnity. Satan must be restored on an individual, family, tribal, national, global, and universal level. This can be done only by the True Parents, who have created the true blood lineage.
You know the Principle clearly. You are small messiahs. You do not belong to Satan’s lineage but to God’s lineage. Original love has now been passed from God through the True Parents to you. You are on God’s side, but you still must consistently cut away Satan’s influence-even after being engrafted to True Parents. Your thinking must be True Parents’ thinking. Every one of your branches and leaves must have the same feeling as True Parents.
Through primary school, high school, and college you were educated in fallen concepts. But now you must erase these concepts. Do you still think of the old days and past lovers? Do you see their faces in your dreams? If you keep remembering their names, this is a condition of sin. No matter how connected to them you were, don’t think about those relationships again. They were false lovers. The only reality is the path of the True Parents. This is the true, historical way. I don’t want you to be concerned with your past. You are surrounded by the fallen reality everywhere. Isn’t that enough?
Stand in front of a mirror and read your own face. Are you spiritually clear? When you pass into the spirit world you will go to where your mind already is. If you have bad thoughts, you will see what they look like around you. This is the point at which you will start your spiritual life. You yourself decided this course; God cannot send help. There is no guarantee that Unification Church members will be able to be with me in the spirit world.
People often make excuses when things don’t turn out right. They say, “I didn’t do it! It was somebody else.” However, you must realize that you are already standing in a very bad place-Satan’s place. Satan controls the whole universe. I am the first one to have escaped Satan’s world. You also have to break out of Satan’s world by making your mind subject. With your own mind you must establish a flow of give and take with True Parents’ spirit. This will create joy in your life.
Tragically, East and West and North and South have been divided throughout history. And there have been great differences in wealth among peoples. Such divisions are the agony of history.
First all Abel-type people must be united. Unity between rich and poor can also be achieved-not by power but by love. What kind of love are we talking about? Altruistic, serving, giving, unselfish love.
East and West, Asians and Occidentals, black and white, white and yellow, yellow and black-all these historical gaps must be mended and made whole. That is the plan for recreating the world.
Centering upon God, 120 nations should be united as one so that a heavenly United States of the World can be born. Your names shall be recorded as the citizens of one Kingdom of God. How can this world come about? First the United States must become unified and then this country must make unity with the Soviet Union.
When I was testifying before Senator Hatch and the constitutional committee, I was asked a question about the separation between religion and the state. My answer was that religion is in the mind position and the state in the body position. In your own life, certainly, if the body tries to control the mind, you will perish. The mind must control the body. In essence they are one; there should not even be separation between them. You have to educate others in this concept, but unless you have this oneness within yourself, you will not influence anyone else.
So far, my time has been spent raising the Unification Church leadership and members. From now on I will concentrate on my principled duty to teach my own children.
This morning I came down from upstairs rather late because after pledge service I gave a sermon to my children. I told them they are to be the elder brothers and sisters to humanity, and that I wanted them to develop the guts to deal with anyone, even very important people.
Even though my children are younger than you, they will be in the position to serve as elder sons and daughters to the movement because they are the only people who have received the actual flesh and bones of the True Parents. No matter how old you are, you are in the younger brother’s position to them. They are in a position to protect you. Each of them is responsible for one of the 12 pearl gates of the spirit world, and all people will be divided into 12 tribes under them.
Before when my children went to Korea, Korean immigration treated them scornfully. Now the situation is completely changed: “Oh, Rev. Moon’s children! Let me see them! They’re such special, beautiful children! They can have a special pass’.’ Many people even in the movement used to think, “I’m so glad I’m not one of Father’s children’.’ But now everybody wishes he or she could be a child of Rev. Moon.
Now is the most ideal time in history-when the younger brother and the elder brother can be united in loyalty. This has to be achieved while the True Parents are on earth. Unless we accomplish that level we will still have homework to do and our children’s generation will not turn out well. You know where to go. Your destiny is absolutely clear.
