Côte d’Ivoire: Heath Awareness Project
Prepared by WFWP Côte d’Ivoire
On July 24, 2020, WFWP Côte d’Ivoire launched Heath Awareness Project and compliance with barrier measures to stop COVID 19 pandemic in the country.
The program started at 9 am with the national anthem of Côte d’Ivoire, followed by WFWP’s Pledge. The MC, Mrs. KOUAKOU Lydie then invite Mrs. YESSOH Hélène to give the orientations of the day.
Mrs. AKA Agathe, regional Director of WFWP West Africa explained about the aim of the project to “Bring each citizen to be clean in order to live a long time in good and nice area”.
The National Leader BEUGRE Richard and the representative of the Town Hall Mr. DIVO spoke to participants and gave words of encouragements.
After setting up teams, the awareness began by offering hydro alcoholic gel to disinfect hands of everyone, together with a mask and awareness flyer after explaining its content. The flyer contains pictures of the actions to be adopted (wash hands regularly with soap and water or use hydro alcoholic gel, cough into a disposable handkerchief or into the bend of the elbow, wear a mask in public, respect distancing a meter between people) and those to avoid (do not throw garbage in the gutters or on the street, but in a trash can) to stay healthy. We recommended to traders to stick the flyers at the entrance of their stores.
After the market, awareness raising continued in households and ended at 1 p.m on that day. A total of 1400 masks, 400 trash bags and 400 flyers were distributed. The awareness will continue every week until October 20.
