Zambia: Peace Road 2019

The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) in conjunction with the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), Youth and Students for Peace (YSP) and Tong-Il Moo do Zambia Chapter held a Peace March Road on Saturday 10th August, 2019 in Lusaka.
The Peace Road March started from the Civic Center with a flag off by Rt, Gen. Hon. Malimba Nathiel Masheke, Former Prime Minister and Chairman of UPF Zambia Chapter.
We had more than 350 participants in attendance among them some notable one’s. Former Minister of Community Development and Member of Parliament, Hon. Emerine Kabanshi, Bishop John Mambo, IAPD Vice Chairman, the Grand Mufti of Islamic Council of Zambia Sheik Assadullah Mwale, Mr. Warran Hamusanga President of the University of Zambia Students Union, students, marketeers and many Ambassadors for Peace.
The march was decorated with cyclists Club of Zambia, the beautiful performance of Majorette made it more colourful with their uniforms, live performance by Tongil Moodo Zambia as well as by the Brass Band of the United Church of Zambia Boy’s Brigade of St. Paul’s Congregation, , members of United Church of Zambia of Lilayi Congregation and Mission in Partners Works, as well as Zambia police traffic seven officers escorted their marchers up to freedom Statue.
After arriving at the Freedom Statue, the Master of Ceremony, Mr. Andrico Tshaba, invited the brass band to play the National Anthem prior to the commencement of the main event speech. Thereafter he welcomed the IAPD Coordinator, Pastor Erick Kashala Mutewa, to give his welcoming remarks. Later on, Rev. Rudolf Faerber explaining the background and the Peace road which is super high way starting from Cape of Good Hope in south Africa, connect to London, New York.
Rev. Rudolf Faerber started by explaining the initiation and the history of the Peace Road on the concept and the philosophy of the founders who are Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his wife Dr. Hak Ja Moon. He said that the Peace Road which begins from South Africa is intended to link all parts of the nations in the world to realize true peace and live under one God as a family.
After welcoming remarks, the MC, Mr. Andrico Tshaba, he invited Rev Rudolf Faerber to introduce the UPF Chairman, Gen. Malimba Nathaniel Masheke. In his remarks, he reminded youth present about how peace is vital in the world.
Mr. Soondo Mutewa, representing Youth and Students for Peace encouraged the youth to cultivate peace. Finally, he said for Zambia to be at peace, the peace must start with me.
Later on, Mrs. Sheila Chanda Mwenda, President of WFWP Zambia Chapter emphasized on the importance of peace play as women.
Hon. Emerine Kabansh as the guest of honor thanked the organizers and encouraged to continue with spirit of promoting peace. She further urged participants to cultivate dignity in the country. She finally stated that the Peace Road is not only physical but also spiritual.
Rev. David Isaac Phiri started his speech by informing the audience that peace must begin with each individual. Everyone is responsible to contribute to the propagation of peace in the world. In order to have peace in the world first each of us should have peace within ourselves. Before conquering the world, we must conquer ourselves.
Rev. Phiri elaborated that we all belong to one family and we should go beyond our religion. In the closing remarks, Rev. Rudolf Faerber thanked all for attending the event and said that we all want to see peace in Zambia, Africa and the entire world. Then he wished all the blessings and peace of God upon all participants.
The event came to the end after participants sang Zambia National Anthem and a closing prayer was given by Sheik Assadullah Mwale.
After the closing prayer refreshments were served to all participants.
