Congo Brazzaville: Peace Road 2019

On Sunday, August 4, 2019, the first Sunday of the month, Congo Brazzaville organized the peace road “Peace Road” under the theme “Connect the Congo to the world through peace”.
This was the 5th year to hold Peace Road event in Congo Brazzaville. The event took place in the city of Pointe-Noire in the presence of the prefect of Pointe-Noire, Mr. Alexandre Honoré Paka (Ambassador for Peace) accompanied by mayors of boroughs as well as other authorities of the Department of Pointe-Noire and Kouilou.
We had 700 participants included local elected officials, ambassadors for peace, the police, businessmen and women, civil society, members of the UPF, FFWPU, WFWP, YSP and Tong Il Moo. Participants walked a distance of 5km from the Prefecture of Pointe-Noire to the Mayor of Mvoumvou under the cadence of the fanfares. Water distribution points along the route were planned to supply water.
The event began in the morning around 7:00 with a prayer offered by Monsignor Emmanuel Dicka (Ambassador for Peace). In his opening remarks, the Chairman of Pointe-Noire, Mr. Victor Matondo, recalled the life of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his fight to build peace in the world.
And just after the opening speech, the pigeons for peace were released followed by the launch of the march by the Prefect. The walkers were preceded by cyclists.
On arrival, Bishop Gilbert Mienandi thanked Heavenly Parent with a prayer. The Mayor of Mvoumvou was very satisfied, thanked the UPF for this great event in favor of peace.
UPF Secretary General Tsana Clement explained the importance of the road to peace and spoke about the vision of True Parents. After the testimony of Monsignor Emmanuel Dicka, there was the sports demonstration by Tong Il Moo Do.
The prefect of Pointe Noire, Honore Paka, closed the series of speeches thanking the Rev. Dr. Moon and his wife and to reaffirm his commitment and support for the UPF.
The event ended with the signing of a resolution and this was followed by a group photo taken.
