Moldova: Family Festival with the Support from Village
By Sabina Nadejdin, FFWPU Moldova
On Sunday, June 30, 2019, members living in Moldova’s Ialoveni District held a Family Festival in the village of Văsieni.
It is a small village, but preparations were done very carefully and responsibly. The event was held with the support of the local administration and two local initiative groups: the Club of Active Women and the Youth Council. As a result, among the participants were 33 couples, of whom 30 couples of different ages passed through three ceremonies.
The head of the village welcomed our initiative; he was present at the event along with his pregnant wife, whom he brought to sit in the first row as an example for other families. In his speech, he expressed his desire for other Family Festivals to follow.
The next step was the opening of the Family Club. We look forward to receiving feedback and suggestions from the participants. Some of them have told us that the festival has given new hope to their village that its problems can be solved.
