Russia: Third Conference for Society’s Leaders
Prepared by FFWPU/UPF Russia
On Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, the third international conference “Universal Values and Healthy Families as a Basis for Peace and Development” took place in the Peace Embassy in Moscow.
The conference, which was organized jointly by FFWPU, Universal Peace Federation and Women’s Federation for World Peace, was attended by representatives of public and religious organizations of Russia and Armenia.
The conference organizers set two main goals: to emphasize the seriousness of social problems related to the crisis of family values, and to convey the need for all society leaders to work together to solve these problems.
The uniqueness of this conference was that for the first time two families were awarded with diplomas for being a “Model Family” and a roundtable to find a joint solution for social problems in society was held.
Existing projects were presented to participants, who also had an opportunity to create new projects and present them to the others. As a result, a group called “Ideas and Materials” (https://vk.com/clubidey2020) was created on the social network VKontakte.
Another important outcome of the conference was the confirmation of a conference in Georgia on June 1 for community leaders of Georgia and Armenia, as well as a decision to carry out a similar program together with the Public Chamber of the St. Petersburg region on June 10 and 11 in the town of Tikhvin.
At the conference, much was said about the importance of building a model settlement as a joint solution for basic social problems of families and young people. As a result, certain areas of Russia were proposed as having the greatest potential for the beginning of this work.
