Georgia: Universal Values and Healthy Families

Striving to realize Vision 2020, as well as create a model community where social problems are solved with the help of the Blessing and programs aimed at strengthening the institution of the family, on June 1st in Georgia, in the city of Bolnisi, a conference was organized by the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification and the Universal Peace Federation together with the municipality of Bolnisi.
The theme of the conference was “Universal Values and Healthy Families as the Basis of Peace and Development”. The conference was attended by 60 people, including the Deputy Mayor of Bolnisi. The mayor himself was not able to attend, but sent greetings to the conference participants. Also, the municipality provided a hall for the forum, transportation, and invited to the meeting heads of villages and school principals.
The conference can rightfully be called international, since it was attended by participants from Armenia – leaders of NGOs and FSEM, 15 people from ethnically Azerbaijani villages participated.
The speakers included Dr. Katsumi Otsuka, President of UPF Europe, who presented the participants a report of UPF activities in the area of the family, Mr. Jack Corley, President of the FFWPU Eastern Europe, who spoke about the basic principles of spiritual and moral education. Deputy Mayor of Bolnisi, participants from Armenia talked about different aspects of the family issue.
The head of the FFWPU Georgia, Maka Abugbaya, spoke about Family Festivals as one of the tools for solving contemporary problems in the family, and Khatia Khalichava spoke about youth programs aimed at strengthening morality. The speeches were in Georgian, English and Russian.
Within the framework of the conference, one couple received the Blessing, and three families were awarded Diplomas “Exemplary Family”.
In general, the conference made a good impression on all participants. It was agreed to hold the Family Festival in the Bolnisi district.
