Slovakia: World Summit Report in the Hussite Church
By Barbara Grabner, UPF Slovakia
On April 9, 2019 the facilities of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church in Bratislava were the site of a profound report about the World Summit in Korea.
Since the meeting was called “Interreligious Dialogue – Religions, Faiths and their Responsibility for Peace” the guests came from various religious backgrounds. To begin with Bishop Jan Hradil welcomed the guests with a message quoting the Bible. Next UPF Secretary General Milos Klas introduced the two guest speakers who had come from Prague.
Pastor Mikulas Vymetal from the Evangelical Church of the Czech Brethren had been a speaker at the IAPD session in Seoul. He described his personal impressions from interactions with leaders from around the world and the general program, all very comprehensive and partly witty. His account was complemented with some additions from Dr. Juraj Lajda who spoke also about the World Scripture study meetings in Prague. Both delighted the audience with their lively reports.
Finally, among the over 30 listeners and the speakers a lively discussion evolved. Everyone received a copy of the recent UPF Europe Newsletter.
