Zambia: Youth Cleaning Service

The Zambia Tong-Il Moo-Do Federation in collaboration with the Youth and Students for Peace held a Cleaning campaign, Peace Activity (Cleaning Service) on Saturday 23rd February 2019. The event took place at the Barlastone Park in Lusaka. A Total of 25 Youths participated to the Cleaning Activity. Zambian government has introduced a national cleaning day to be held every last Saturday of the month. The exercise is part of the “Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign” initiative, which President Edgar Lungu re-launched in a bid to raise cleanness levels in Zambia.
Generally, it was a platform for the youths to express their heart of service and taking responsibility for their own environment but specifically it was a call and an awareness to the surrounding people to understand that living in a healthy, safe and pleasant environment is a key for all development.
After the cleaning, the team felt happy looking at the work well done.
During lunch time, the team was able to reflection and discussion about the importance of keeping our environment clean and safe for a better life and make better plan for the next venue of Service.
At the end, the youths discovered that this type of Activity lay a platform for them to express their heart and take responsibility to engage themselves in the development of their Community. They finally realized that being a Martial Artist is not only to learn on how to kick and punch but also to learn how to use our creativity and resources to build a pleasant and living environment.
Finally, youths pledged take upon this activity every month and to continue in whole town and Zambia.
