Russia: Buddhist Clan Ceremony and Blessing
Prepared by FFWPU Russia
On Sunday, February 24, 2019, one hundred twenty ethnic Kalmyks gathered in the Moscow Peace Embassy for a Buddhist purification ceremony followed by a Unificationist Marriage Blessing Ceremony.
The Buddhist Lama Sanal conducted the rite of purification of karma—ridding the family of the consequences of their ancestors’ mistakes. The rite consisted of offering and burning foods, and jointly reading special mantras. After that, Lama Sanal gave an educational talk to all who had gathered.
In the second part of the program, Alexey and Olga Saveliev, heads of the Academy of Heavenly Tribal Messiahship of Eastern Europe, officiated a marriage rededication ceremony. Everyone gathered from the very beginning knew about the upcoming ceremony. This time, five couples received the Marriage Blessing.
Lama Sanal and his wife, Saglaroy, received the Blessing in August 2018 in Korea. Lama Sanal is a non- system lama. He has followers in both the Russian republic of Kalmykia and Moscow, and he actively uses social networks to stay in contact with followers in other cities of Russia.
The lama and his wife are actively cooperating with our movement. Encouraging their followers to receive the Blessing, they seamlessly combine Buddhist traditions with the teachings of the True Parents. An important point in their testimony is that they especially emphasize the importance of the 40-day separation period after the Blessing, followed by the three-day ceremony. For Buddhists, the number 49 is very important, so in the manuals the emphasis is on 49 days, not 40.
Our members, together with Lama Sanal, are developing programs for the further education of families who have received the Blessing.
