Brazil: Inauguration of HOPE – Youth Ministry
Prepared by FFWPU Brazil
On March 16, 2019, the church of Santo Amaro held the resumption of activities of the Hope Youth ministry, connected group with the ideals and vision of the YSP. The theme was “The role of youth and students in creating a culture of sustainable Peace in our country”. Hope Youth Ministry restructured its activities into three sub-groups:
- Hope Kids – Working with children from 4 to 12 years old
- Hope Teen – Who develops activities with young people from 12 to 17 years old;
- Hope Youth – Who will work with young people from the age of 18.
The inaugural event of this new phase had the theme “Disconnect”.
We note that youth is increasingly focused on social media, cell phones, computers, tablets and less connected with life, with creation, with God. So the purpose of the event was to bring this insight, this call to society and disconnect from the digital world and connect with God.
The event had approximately 400 people, with almost 50% of them being people who were meeting the church for the first time. The Church of Santo Amaro was completely replete in its corridors, additional rooms and stairs given the large proportion that the event took.
The event was attended by the president of the Association of Families of Brazil, the representative of the Continental YSP Mr. Samuel Linhares, special envoy of the Young Reverend Kwon and the patrons of the event representing the church of Santo Amaro and general manager for all activities, Pastor Inowan Almeida and his wife Tung Ja Amanda Belarmino Novais. The event was filled with music, theater, ballet, lecture of the divine principle and a delicious closing cocktail.
All the guests left their contacts and they left very inspired and motivated to become part of this work that will have its continuity weekly.
