Lithuania: Peace Bridge
By Aram and Roma Karagezian, UPF Lithuania
UPF Lithuania representatives participate in a Polish culture festival held in Panevezys, at the special school for deaf children, and organized a Bridge of Peace ceremony between Polish and Lithuanian people on November 3 2018.
Director of this school, UPF Peace Ambassador Danute Krisciuniene invited us to support her event. UPF Chairman Raimondas Urbonas proposed the Peace Bridge idea, which was enthusiastically received. We undertook to provide small Lithuanian and Polish flags, 100 of each, so that participants can hold them and come to greet each other in Peace ceremony. Both countries this year also celebrate 100 years of their restored independence.
The event was well organized. Our Peace Ambassador introduced UPF and FFWPU as event supporters and invited representatives to say a few words. R.Urbonas greeted all guests from UPF and emphasized importance of peace and friendship; among guests were Consul and Vice-Consul of Polish Embassy in Lithuania, Panevezys City Mayor, Head of Education and Youth Department, Head of Panevezys bicycle club and other social activists, five musical ensembles from Poland.
Representing FFWPU Aram Karagezian stressed the need to cherish and constantly invest in relationships and invited participants to stand up and greet each other. It was exciting to see, how this hall full of people suddenly all started moving, everybody was so inspired to greet, to hug each other, to take photos together!
We felt we succeeded to be a good partner for other organization, and with very small investment and by our presence could earn quite a few points as reliable, trustworthy people, and also made more new contacts.
