Russia: Moscow Marathon
Prepared by UPF Russia
The Moscow International Marathon is held annually in late September. This year the date of the Marathon became September 23rd. It’s already the second year that the active participants of the Peace Road project ran the distance of the most prestigious Russian marathon. Some of them practiced a long time to show high results, others simply ran in T-shirts with the emblem “Peace Road” in support of this project, guided by the principle, “The main thing is not victory, but participation.”
It is nice that the beautiful logo and the bright inscription “Peace Road” attracted attention of not only the fellow runners on the distance, but also of the photo reporters. Despite the rain and autumn coolness, the sporting results of the peacemakers were quite high.
The head of the NGO Universal Peace Federation, the main enthusiast of the Peace Road project in Moscow, Dmitry Samko, covered 10 km in 52 minutes. Evgeny Mirzyanov, who came from Nizhny Novgorod to support the “Highway of the World” project, showed excellent results and ran a full marathon of 42.2 km in 3 hours and 14 minutes. All participants received commemorative medals and a lot of unforgettable impressions, making their small but bright contribution to the promotion of the Peace Road project.
