Nepal: World Interfaith Harmony Week

On the very occasion of “World Interfaith Harmony Week 2018” there was an event organized by Universal Peace Federation Nepal on Feb 4, 2018 at Nagarjuna Academy, Lalitpur. There were 195 people from different Zone, Districts, community and   from different faith together with youth from colleges.  All were gathered there to continue the similar course of action of world interfaith harmony week.

All spiritual leaders were there to celebrate the occasion and to tell about the interfaith harmony. They gave speeches one by one and prayed together for the holy cause and for the interfaith harmony. After completing the first session of the program there was a debate competition for the students on the topic interfaith harmony and the winners was rewarded.

All the participants of event share knowledge with each other. The motto of celebrating the program was fulfilled and the program was very productive such program helps to maintain social tolerance, social justice and interfaith harmony. On this occasion UPF Nepal awarded 5 VIPs from education sector from the award of Ambassador for Peace.

Feedback of the program was very positive. The event was very effective and fruitful. such program helps to maintain social tolerance and also helps to develop feelings of respect for each other. In our total population 41% are youth and they are the future of nation so, it is necessary to provide such hormonal program to the youth. All gathered together for a holy cause and it was much effective and helpful to remove discrimination with each other in-between different religion. Everyone seemed to enjoy the program.

It is hoped that this initiative will provide a focal point from which all people of goodwill can recognize that the common values they hold far outweigh the differences they have, and thus provide a strong dosage of peace and harmony to their communities.

Guru Damodar Gautam a Hindu religious leader spoke on the value of interfaith harmony and peace while Mr. Binod Dangi addressed the gathering saying UPF is supporting and organizing the World Interfaith Harmony Week in promoting religious harmony and peace in Nepal.

Few people spoke and among them Mr. Narendra Pandey said who stressed on working together as one among all the faiths and there won’t be war in the world and world peace can be create through religious harmony.

Former Member of Parliament Ms. Milan Rajbanshi focused on the vision and mission of Interfaith work centering on founder of UPF Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon and responsibility of social leader as Ambassador for Peace.

Now, the Nagarjuna Academy including few other colleges and the community in Lalitpur wants UPF and interfaith group to bring more character development, peace education and interaction program in future.
