Switzerland: Annual International Charity Bazaar
By Michel Reymond, UPF Switzerland
UPF Representatives attended and supported the 2017 International Charity Bazaar organized every year in Geneva by the United Nations Women’s Guild www.unwg.ch , Mrs Bilqueece Alimohamed, member of the organizing committee invited me to attend and make a retrospective video of their main annual event: The International Charity Bazaar is an effort to support major fundraiser for projects benefiting disadvantaged children across the globe.
During one day, the United Nations Palace in Geneva is transformed in a giant exhibition fair where 60 nations (selected every year by lottery among the 193 UN member states) have the chance to display their national colors with their typical food and product, allowing the 6’000 expected visitors to taste and buy local products from all over the world, as well as participating the the UNWG Bric-à-brac, Charity Lottery, Christmas gift exchange, etc.. in an effort to support major fundraiser for projects benefiting disadvantaged children across the globe. In 2016, around CHF 300’000.- were collected during the Bazaar day of the UNWG! you will discover on the pictures and video the rich intercultural and international experience that is when the world meets in one place during one day, an amazing experience made possible in Geneva.
Not only filming, but I was able to make numerous friendly contact, including with some Geneva officials, also the Ambassador of Oman, a very open Muslim country who accept the concept of pluralism development and progress, and potential many new Ambassador for Peace that only wait an invitation from us ! My camera and photo skills are opening many doors to outreach and promote the vision of UPF, through service to them.
