France: 25th Anniversary Celebration of WFWP
By Brigitte Wada, WFWP France
On the 12th of November, WFWP France celebrated the 25th anniversary of the WFWP in Paris at l’ Espace Barrault. More than 60 people were present for our celebration.
The program was divided into two parts: the first was ceremonial and the second festive.
Mrs. Brigitte Wada, president of WFWP-France gave welcoming remarks recalling the vision and the objectives of WFWP. She remarked that without the sacrificial commitment of Japanese women volunteers in 1994, WFWP could not have developed in more than 160 countries in the world. Then a short film especially made for the 25the anniversary of WFWP International was shown.
She then introduced the former presidents of WFWP in France present at this event: Mrs. Brigitte Sillitoe (1995-2001) and Mrs. Kathrin Plane (2004-2008) who both shared a nice testimony and words of gratitude.
After a short slide show was shown, a retrospective of the activities of the WFWP in France from 1992 until today. It was a tribute to all those who contributed to our development in France. Afterwards certificates of recognition were presented to some of the participants.
The time then came to sing the birthday song and to cut the nicely- decorated cake with red fruits.
After a thirty-minute break, we started the second part of our program presented by Young Soon Cordasso. She introduced the various artistic performances: a Brazilian song performed by 4 young Brazilians, a Japanese song performed by a group of Japanese women, an instrumental duet (flute and piano), a song about Mother and 3 songs of the group “X Japan” performed with instruments and sang by Mr. Teruyuki Wada. Everyone was feeling so happy that other people also wished to offer something like a poem or a song. We concluded the program by singing together in Korean the song “Urie “and in French “Vivre pour l’unité”.
