Andorra: Peace Road 2017

By Lluis Babi, FFWPU Andora

Andorra joined the Global Event of Peace Road 2017 with the theme of “Connecting the World through Peace” on 12 August 2017.

We had a Peace Road March through 2 main important Parishes of Andorra connecting the old Historical Building of the Capitol, “Casa de La Valls” which was the Andorran Parliament for few hundred years and “Caldeas” which is the new modern building of Wellness Hot Springs Building and is the symbol of Escaldes- Engordany Parish.

It was a very beautiful day of blue sky and sunshine, fifteen of us started our march in front of the Andorra’s Parliament, which is in the Capitol of Andorra and walked through the Andorra la Vella church and Central Park. It was about two Kms through the main streets to reach the Escaldes-Engordany Parish.

We felt we were really connecting the world through Peace because we were walking along the main street which were displayed the 16 Patriotic Caramels Sculptures of the famous French Sculptor, Laurence Jenkell. The sculptures were his iconic collection of Plexiglass Candy Sculptures of 2.5 meters high of 16 nations display along the Vivand Pedestrian Mall in Escaldes –Engardany Parish during summer 2017.

It was a very joyful time with united hearts and good experiences for all of us to participate in this Peace Road to let people know about this Peace project. After the long walk in hot the sunshine, we concluded our activity with love, laugh and delicious ice cream!
