Nicaragua: Recent Development

1. On February 23, 2017, an event was held in the main auditorium of the UISPA, that brought together the presidents and representatives of 14 private universities in Nicaragua. Dr. Chang Shik Yang, Secretary General of UPF International, participated as a special observer and a guest of honor.
Dr. Yang gave a powerful speech, promoting the work and ideas of the UPF and its founders. After that, all the representatives of the universities together with Dr. Yang signed a letter of cooperation in alliance with the UPF in the areas of values and culture of peace, to raise the level of education of the universities of Nicaragua.
Several Nicaraguan broadcasting and news agencies covered the event.
2. The Forum of Presiding Officers of Legislative Assemblies of Central America and the Caribbean Basin, (FOPREL) invited Dr. Yang as a special guest and international observer to their meeting which was held from February 23 to 25, 2017, to empower the new directors. The event took place in the main hall of Crowne Plaza Hotel of Managua Nicaragua.
Hon. Gustavo Porras, President of National Assembly and some congressmen, around 40 delegates from different countries participated.
During the assembly, we had a chance for a video presentation of UPF activities. And Dr. Yang gave an explanation of UPF works for peace around the world as well.
The FOPREL members are Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Honduras and Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Mexico.
