All the preparation were done by the President of the WFWP Togo, Mrs. Flore Antonio and the Ambassador for Peace, Christine Agnélé MENSAH-ATOEME.
During the event, Mrs. Antonio spoke about the WFWP and its activities around the world and set the framework for the day’s meeting. The Ambassador for Peace spoke about the women rights of women, the different types of violence against women and the legal provisions to protect women in relation to succession, when husband in the family pass away. Because sometimes members of the husband’s family disinherit the wife and take all the property owned by the husband and kick the children and wife out or push them to divorce etc.
Mrs. Antonio focused on women’s responsibilities to avoid violence against her because often the failure to fulfill responsibilities as wife and mother leads to conflicts, which lead to violence. She also urged women to avoid verbal violence, because some women insulted their husbands in front of their children and neighbors. She asked them to make efforts to love their husbands, and children, in order to create peace and harmony within the family.
She also emphasized that women must ensure the education of their children and clothing especially for girls as they expose their bodies by wearing short skirts, showing off their bodies.
During the debate and the Q&A session, participants asked interesting questions, about the relationship between husband and wife, about the infidelity of the husband. They wanted to know the attitude to be taken towards an unfaithful husband who maintains another woman and does not take care of her family. And Ambassadors for Peace and the members of the WFWP Togo offered satisfactory answers. During this time, many experiences have been shared by Ambassadors for Peace to further inform women.
