Bulgaria: Celebrating Children and Families

By FFWPU Bulgaria, Edina Zsolcsak-Dimitrova

November 1st, is the Day of the Christian Family in Bulgaria. We combined it with the Universal Children’s Day (20 November) and organized an event celebrating children and families on November 20, 2016, in the Embassy of Peace in Sofia. It was the first one of the activities that we planned during the special 100-day period for a successful Fourth Anniversary of Foundation Day. Our purpose is to bring together friends and contacts with our blessed families and socialize with them in a free and joyful environment, advertising our ideals, goals and activities.

Some guests and members gathered together in a pleasant atmosphere. To begin with, we sang some songs in different languages and played introduction icebreaker and self- awareness games. It was fun for both children and adults, and interesting even for those who had already known each other. After that we formulated our views on the family and we created a montage from these small definitions and drawings.

The children prepared a short play with Rumiana Russeva, based on a tale she herself had written about the dream of a small child, with the Sun, the Moon and the wind.

After the organized program was finished, children kept playing together for a long time, while the adults were talking. Our next similar gathering will be for Christmas.
