Peace Road 2016 in Czech Republic
By UPF Czech Republic, Juraj Lajda
Based on the launching of the Peace Road project 2016 in Korea on 15th February this year we organized a Peace Road in the Czech Republic. This was already the third time to organize such a project. Each year participants came with their children demonstrating the fact that the families are important in the unification process.
This year we chose for the destination of the Peace Road a historical place in the city of Brandýs. The tour was leading from a small city of Čelákovice near Prague to the royal garden near a historical castle in the city of Brandýs. The castle commemorates the rule of the Habsburg family in Europe. Not far from the castle there is another historical place which is a national pilgrimage site – the place where the first Czech saint and king saint Wenceslas was assassinated by his brother in the 10th century.
Over 50 people participated this year in the Peace Road. The road was 24 kilometers long and 7 kilometers long for the walking participants.
The official kick off was at 11:30 a.m. on the 19th June 2016 in Čelákovice where we made a commemorative picture. Mrs. Martine Masnerová, FFWPU president in the Czech Republic opened the Peace Road. After 3 and half hours the bikers came to the destination. The route was winding in a beautiful scenery alongside the Labe river. A beautiful and colorful nature was a lively inspiration for the bikers.
Many children were happy to participate together with their parents.
After arriving to the destination a small refreshment was waiting for the participants. Afterwards Dr. Juraj Lajda, UPF secretary general in the Czech Republic made a speech reminding the true meaning, purpose and significance of the Peace Road.
„Peace Road is not an ordinary touring or some sports activity. It has an important content and deep meaning and it carries a special message – a message for creating a peaceful world. This year we want to commemorate the 4th anniversary of the Seonghwa of the Revered Sun Myung Moon, who was a great patriot and fighter for world peace. He dedicated his whole life for creating a peaceful world and specially to bring the reunification on the Korean peninsula, “said Dr. Lajda in his speech.
After the speech three white doves were sent off to the blue sky as a symbol of peace, freedom and wishing for the peaceful reunification on the Korean peninsula. The official program was concluded by singing two Korean songs. Through this event we connected and contributed to the fulfillment of the legacy of Reverend Sun Myung Moon for peaceful reunification of North and South Korea and promoting peace in the world.
The Peace Road 2016 in the Czech Republic was organized by Universal Peace Federation and Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. One member of the Czech Parliament who participated in the Peace Road 2016 launching in Korea last February at the DMZ was informed about this event.
All the participants want to come next year and join the Peace Rod 2017 together with their guests, friends and other participants.
