Uganda: CARP Seminar
by CARP Uganda, Kyalo Ivan: We held a CARP seminar on March 5, 2016 at Peace Embassy Uganda under the theme “Understanding Leadership towards Environmental changes in building world peace”.
We had 18 gusts which included representatives from Kampala university, Makerere university, Institute of fisheries, with the hope to create foundation for launching CARP chapters in these universities.
We played a documentary of the two “Sun Hak peace prize winner awards”, then Prof. A.B.T. Byaruhanga Akiiki the Deputy vice chancellor of Kampala university, who is one our Member) gave keynote address basing on the International president’s recent ILC address, followed by an environmental PPT presentation by the education director Uganda, Mr. Gwaku David.
The students were very much inspired by the documentary, keynote address and a presentation on climate change in Uganda.
After that the CARP president Mr. Mukasa Paul took them through group discussion for the way forward.
The participants asked to hold subsequent seminars in their universities where they will mobilize including students not in leadership, to be planned in about two weeks’ time.
As you can see in these pictures: Prof. A.B.T Byaruhanga is giving the keynote address, another one when participants where in group discussion and one group photo. Regarding the banner (top photo), because this time we could not afford to make a new one, we use the old one we had which has no theme.
