USA: Seminar on True Parents’ Vision for Cheon Il Guk

By FFWPU USA: On November 20, 2015 the National Ministry Team held their monthly meeting and welcomed three guest speakers from Korea to present on the topic of “World Missions Strategy of Peace for the Substantialization of Cheon Il Guk”. Mrs. Wonju McDevitt, Chief of Staff for True Mother’s Secretariat, FFWPU International; Dr. Young Ho Yoon, Director for the Office of True Mother’s Secretariat, FFWPU International; and Dr. Jin Choon Kim, Vice Chairman of the Cheon Il Guk Supreme Council, all shared timely and insightful messages on True Parents’ vision for Cheon Il Guk (God’s kingdom), True Mother’s current plans and the providence today.

Miilhan Stephens, Vice President of FFWPU USA, emceed the event. He welcomed Dr. Michael Balcomb, FFWPU USA President, to open the morning with a Hoon Dok Hwe (scripture) reading. Wonju McDevitt then spoke, extending True Mother’s love and confidence in the Unification family and leaders in America.

“True Mother has recently been very serious and invested in bringing the work begun by True Father to greater fruition,” she said. “She is also reassuring us that though issues are arising today she is grateful they occurred while she is still with us, so she can deal with and resolve them.”

Mrs. McDevitt detailed True Mother’s framework for building Cheon Il Guk, including the global Tribal Messiahship movement and True Mother’s focus on educating the next generation through the Wonmo Foundation scholarships, the Universal Peace Academy and Cranes Club. She also reported on the Autumn Great Works Festival’s successful Heaven G. Burger event. Upon reminiscing of the early days of the movement, True Mother created the recipe for the Heaven G. Burger as way to connect back to the spirit of that time, when burgers were a quick and easy meal that accommodated True Parents’ busy schedules. Mrs. McDevitt closed with an anecdote illustrating the difference between believing with words and believing with actions, and encouraged everyone to invest, move and act.

Dr. Young Ho Yoon presented an outline of the main strategy of FFWPU International.

“Cheon Il Guk is not just something we talk about; it’s substantial,” he said. “True Mother is establishing various organizations, reorganizing international headquarters, and creating new departments for future leader development, human resources, policy planning, public relations and auditing.”

Dr. Yoon proceeded to share an analysis of what it means, concretely, to restore a nation and inherit the mission of True Parents. He outlined three pillars for achieving national restoration: witnessing, creating an environment conducive to witnessing, and raising talented future leaders. He went into depth for each of the three pillars, listing related issues, goals and focus points. He also outlined the goals of each department of FFWPU International.

Dr. Jin Choon Kim presented True Mother’s life course as God’s only begotten daughter, sharing quotes from the Cham Bumo Gyeong to illustrate the significance of True Parents’ life history, focusing on True Mother.

Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, Continental Chair of FFWPU North America, shared some closing words. He thanked the speakers for their moving presentations and for delivering substantial, action-based guidance for the FFWPU American leadership to work toward Vision 2020. He also announced that 3,000 copies of the Cham Bumo Gyeong in English have just been shipped to the United States and will be available in time for Christmas. You can pre-order your copy here.

After the morning meeting’s conclusion, everyone was invited to share a lunch of Heaven G. Burgers on behalf of True Mother, and then gathered for a final presentation in which Dr. Jin Choon Kim went into further detail on the Cheon Il Guk strategy and constitution.

The National Ministry Team is excited to hear directly from True Mother’s representatives and gain more insight into Vision 2020, how it connects to the goals and mission of FFWPU USA, and how we can create and fulfill concrete goals in America.
